NRL Round 5 Preview and Tips – Saturday Fixtures

SATURDAY

Warriors v Sydney Roosters
Mt Smart Stadium, 5:30pm

The Roosters found their confidence last week and will be looking to prove to themselves that they are up there with the top sides by making it back to back wins. It will be the same situation for the Warriors who chalked up their maiden victory last week. This should be a good, genuine contest all over the park, especially between the halves Maloney (Warriors) and Pearce (Roosters). The Warriors only need Mateo to improve on his poor showing last week to be a major threat.

Cronulla Sharks v Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
Toyota Stadium, 7:30pm

What was shaping to be a ground shaking battle of the forwards was quelled through the week when Manly’s Anthony Watmough and Terence Seu Seu were given a week’s suspension for bad behaviour off field. Steve Matai returns from his suspension and look for him to have a big game off the back of Kieran Foran who is on fire at the moment. Despite losing last week, the Sharks still played a great game with Wade Graham finding plenty of room down the left hand side in attack.

Get ready for a close finish.

Penrith Panthers v Canberra Raiders
Centrebet Stadium Penrith, 7:30pm

The Raiders are struggling. Their halfback Matt Orford is really struggling to find form and this game could be make or break for him in the NRL. Even with how poor both these sides, it’s hard to pick a winner. I’m going to lean towards Penrith on the return of their halfback Luke Walsh.
