NRL Round 7 Preview and Tips – Friday Fixtures

THE LONG HARD LOOK WITH MIKE WILSON

NRL ROUND 7 PREVIEW

Sadly, it has been another week marred by poor player behaviour. It looks like it will have an effect on the Roosters side, but for the most part we will try and stay away from the controversial aspects of the game and focus on the footy!

FRIDAY

Manly Sea Eagles v Penrith Panthers
Brookvale Oval, 7:35pm

Well once again Brett Stewart has been named for a return to the Manly side but we’ll have to wait and see if he actually takes the field or not. I certainly don’t think that Penrith are without a hope here, but playing in front of the Brookvale crowd makes Manly big favourites.

Wests Tigers v Brisbane Broncos
Sydney Football Stadium, 7:35pm

If the Broncos keep up their excellent defensive record they will be on target to break some records. They travel to Sydney again to take on the Tigers who crashed and burned after leading 14 – nil last week. The good news for the Tigers is that Chris Heighington successfully had his grade 2 careless high tackle charge downgraded at the judiciary and will take his place in the side. Mackinnon is out and Moltzen will move to fullback with Robert Lui taking his place back in the no. 7. It’s a tough one to pick with the Broncos taking excellent defensive form into the game, but the Tigers have bounced back twice successfully after losses this season.
