Pick of the week

The pick of the week is English (Randwick Race 7, No.4). Two sources list this as their best pick, while The Betfair Insider is recommending a 10 unit bet on this runner and Ladbrokes have written “ENGLISH resumes and has won both her trials leading into this. Impressive winning the Challenge first-up last preparation. Has the potential to be a star of the Spring and this looks an ideal way to start the preparation.”

Randwick Race 6 – George Main Stakes

Important note: Le Romain and Tosen Stardom have been scratched

William Hill – The Wolf:

The Wolf’s Top 5
1. Winx
2. Spiritjim
3. Hauraki
4. It’s Somewhat
5. Vanbrugh

Mad Bookie – Dan Mielecki:

8. WINX from 1, 2, 6

Ladbrokes race comments:

WINX Australia’s best chasing 11 straight. Would be an upset of monumental proportions if she was to be beaten here. LE ROMAIN runner-up both runs this time in. Peaks third-up and looks the quinella horse from the inside gate. HAURAKI impressive return in the Tramway. Placed in the Chipping Norton second-up last preparation and a place hope again. IT’S SOMEWHAT nice return in the Tramway finishing on the placegetters heels. Won the Ajax second-up last preparation and one of the quinella contenders here.

The Betfair Insider:

BACK (PLACE) Tosen Stardom – 5 units (THIS HORSE HAS BEEN SCRATCHED)

Unibet – Stewart Croker:

1. Winx

2. Hauraki

3. Le Romain (THIS HORSE HAS BEEN SCRATCHED)

Palmerbet – The Early Crow’s Top Tips:

WINX

Naturalism Stakes (Caulfield Race 8)

William Hill – The Wolf:

Tom Melbourne (13) – 3.5 star bet

Mad Bookie – Dan Mielecki:

6. JAMEKA from 13, 4, 7

Ladbrokes race comments:

REAL LOVE should have finished closer first-up where she was held up. Even better suited out to the longer trip, she’ll take some holding out. TOM MELBOURNE only has to settle better to be the one to get past. He’s open to a stack of improvement on his fresh run. JAMEKA will race much closer here off a luckless run last start and this trip is ideal. EXCESS KNOWLEDGE could be the value runner from the good gate and SET SQUARE launches late but the wide gate hurts.

Sportsbet – @GarryLegg:

Best:
1 – Jameka
2 – Second Bullet
3 – Tom Melbourne

Value:
Set Square

The Betfair Insider:

BACK (WIN) Tom Melbourne – 4 units at $4 or more.
BACK (WIN) Jameka – 4 units at $5 or more.

Palmerbet – The Early Crow’s Top Tips:

REAL LOVE

Heritage Stakes (Randwick Race 3)

William Hill – The Wolf:

Six last start winners and of the other six, five finished in the placings. Not sure where to look. Russian Revolution is the ultimate professional and looking to maintain his unbeaten record. Tango Rain smashed Thronum two back before splitting Star Turn and Kentucky Miss. Both have franked that form since in a big way. Guard Of Honour is untapped but has to prove he is more than a flash trialler. Spirit And Fire also has a stack of potential. And Hair Trigger fits into the puzzle through Tango Rain. After all that, Tango Rain on top.

Mad Bookie – Dan Mielecki:

8. GUARD OF HONOUR from 1, 2, 10

Ladbrokes race comments:

LEGERITY resumes on the back of a Warwick farm trial win defeating RUSSIAN REVOLUTION. Didn’t miss a place in four runs last preparation including a Rosehill win. Definite market watch fresh. RUSSIAN REVOLUTION unbeaten and five weeks between runs since winning the Vain Stakes at Caulfield. Kept up to the mark with a Warwick Farm trial runner-up finish. Concedes weight to all his rivals under SWP conditions but hard to knock the winning form. HAIR TRIGGER eight weeks between runs but has won a recent trial at Randwick. Placed at Canterbury before the break in a strong form race. Right in this from a good gate. MOUNT PANORAMA 35-days since being well beaten in the San Domenico resuming but runner-up in a recent Randwick trial. Placed in G3 in three of his four runs in his first preparation

Tea Rose Stakes (Randwick Race 4)

William Hill – The Wolf:

Foxplay was a dominant winner of the Furious Stakes first-up and is a deserved favourite. Global Glamour hung out badly at Randwick before picking herself up to run third. It was a monster effort and The Wolf thinks she can turn the tables. Awoke is much better than her Furious run. Forget she ever ran. You’d need to be very forgiving to take the current $8.50 though. The one from right field is Sezanne. Bowman jumps off to ride Foxplay but don’t underestimate this filly.

Mad Bookie – Dan Mielecki:

1. FOXPLAY from 8, 4, 6

Ladbrokes race comments:

FOXPLAY ultra-impressive return in the Furious. Easy winner second-up last preparation over 1350m. Nothing to suggest she won’t be winning again here.GLOBAL GLAMOUR impressive Kembla winner only run in her first preparation. Handled the turn awkwardly but got going again when placed in the Furious resuming. Right in this from an ideal gate. AWOKE Unbeaten in two runs in her first preparation at Newcastle Beaumont and Rosehill. Had genuine excuses when a beaten favourite in the Furious resuming. Set to improve sharply on a drier track. BACARELLA next best.

The Betfair Insider:

BACK (WIN) Foxplay at $2.65+ (1.5 units)
BACK (WIN) Skylight Glow at $7+ (0.6 units)

Bill Ritchie Handicap (Randwick Race 8)

William Hill – The Wolf:

Handfast was very good fresh and he drops 5kg from the run. This is harder but The Wolf can’t get his previous Randwick win out of his head. He towelled up the likes of Santa Ana Lane there. His stablemate Federal also looks to be ticking over nicely with an encouraging second over 1000m. Tsaritsa’s first-up run was forgettable. She is much more dynamic than that and can bounce back. The inside draw is not ideal for her though. Testashadow the blowout. Happy to risk Happy Clapper with the weight and staying at 1400m.

Mad Bookie – Dan Mielecki:

6. LADY LE FAY from 1, 11, 8

Ladbrokes race comments:

HANDFAST just a run short when placed at Rosehill resuming. Won the South Pacific Classic this track and distance in the Autumn and the one to beat here with the first-up run under his belt. TSARITSA promising mare who didn’t have the race run to suit when placed at Randwick resuming. Hopefully more early speed here and if that’s the case she will be right in the finish. TORGERSEN held up at a vital time before finishing runner-up over 1400m here last start. Placed in the G2 Tulloch as a three-year-old and ready to win here. HAPPY CLAPPER did enough in the Tramway resuming. Fitter here. Won’t be at his peak until next start but still one of the main players here.

The Betfair Insider:

BACK (WIN) Handfast at $5+ (1 unit)
BACK (WIN) Federal at $5+ (0.3 units)
BACK – SAVE (WIN) Sons Of John at $10+ (0.2 units)
