First of the really big ones this time for the 3yo’s where there really doesn’t appear to be much in the way of early pace, Whypeeo likely to cross & lead from wide out, nos.1, 9 & the two emergencies 17 & 18 the only other on paced runners on paper. Cannot tip away from the favourite PIERATA who can box seat from the inside gate, Corey Brown just needs to have him in the open ready to go early enough in the straight & he’ll do the rest. Respecting SASSO CORBARO, lightly raced & looked good winning last time out with plenty of further improvement to come. SHOGUN SUN will be running on late.

Race 8:
They’re running for in excess of 1.2 million first prize in the 2yo feature which is the days highlight. Speed map has Ef Troop burning over from his wide gate looking to do a 2018 version of Houtzen, there’s plenty of pace drawn to his inside though suggesting the sparks will fly early on. I’m sticking with SUNLIGHT, she’s been super impressive both wins here setting a solid speed before dropping her rivals in the straight, she can camp behind the pace & launch when given her cue. NOMATHAJ has me concerned, beat SUNLIGHT on debut, drawn & trialled well. Certainly no knock JONKER.

Race 7:
PIERATA has been running well this campaign winning twice and placing in all other outings, hard to go past. WHYPEEO winner at Doomben and placed once this campaign, the real danger in the race. SASSO CORBARO winner of three in a row after last start win at Randwick and a big drop in weight, each-way claims. I AM IMPINGE ran four lengths back from the winner last start at Doomben and won two of five as a favourite, chance to place.
Race 8:
Backmarkers should get their chance in a good speed race. SUNLIGHT winner of last two at Gold Coast and has multiple wins at the track, a winning chance. JONKER has won both races so far, in with a chance. EF TROOP unbeaten in both runs and has the speed to overcome a very wide draw, looks threatening. MERYL won last start to break maiden at Doomben when fresh and Christian Reith a bonus, place best.
