Race 8: 1, 2, 3, 8
Race 9: 5, 8, 10, 11

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
SPEED: 3, 4 from 6, 7 with 2, 8, 12, 15 capable of being handy, 13 next? BEL SONIC has real fresh form and a big finish on him! VAINSTREAM was beaten in good time here. He beat Flying Murty at 1200m prior and that horse then won here. SUN QUAN ran quickest first 400m of the day fresh, still gave a nice kick and beat all bar a smart one. WRITTEN CHOICE was a soft winner that same day and has beaten Bel Sonic when they clashed at 1000m. WASSERGEIST ran over EXELTARA fresh and he then ran well in the Sun Quan race.
Selections 3 4 1 5

Race 7:
SPEED 3, 8, 9, 13 from 2, 12. 10 handy. 6,5 next? MURPHY’S REWARD comes back to 84 grade and back to 1100m. He beat WISE HERO (narrowly) when they last clashed but Wise Hero is a good fresh horse. In fact, he had excuses his only top-two miss. URBAN RULER trialled okay but 1100m? GIBBON likes wet and has been on heels of Quilista. INN KEEPER is four for four on wet ground and the Jaws of Steel form is good. MANOLO BLAHNIQ is probably the best horse here but gate 1, wet ground are queries. SIR DONALD drops to 1100m but beat home Maximus latest. PRINCETON SPIRIT has Maximus form, and upside!
Selections 3 8 2 11

Race 8:
SPEED: 5,10 with 2, 6, 7, 11, 14 capable of being up there. Em 15, 16, 17, 18 handy if here. A few of these are eyeing off the Brisbane carnival. It looks a strong race, this! MAHAMEDEIS flew over Temple of Bel and Street Sheik here second up. That form ties in OKOTOKS (blinkers on), who then ran well behind Think Bleue and Sheezdashing, both terrific in a G1 Oaks last week. FURRION could be anything. He thrashed Weapon two back and that horse has run well behind Leicester and Think Bleue. MIESZKO was super last week but flopped only go on heavy. LUCKY FOR ALL looks handy. KUGELBLITZ a hope.
Selections 15 2 1 11

Race 9:
SPEED: 3, 8 may lead 10, 14. Add 15 if here. 1, 4, 5, 7 can be handy, 2, 13 next? MONGOLIAN WOLF was beaten by a good one at Warrnambool. His previous wet-track run he won the Frank Packer Plate in Sydney at 2000m. HURSLEY and NOUMEA come through a similar race here. Hursley perhaps has more scope inside the prep but there’s little between them. OUR PEAKY BLINDERS is going super and the Lipstick Lover form reads well now. That form ties in the gallant SUNDAY PRAY but 2000m? LIKE THE CLAPPERS was beaten by Furrion (ran earlier) second up and yes 2000m/wet.
Selections 2 5 1 11

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
SUN QUAN (3) Racing well and has good claims here. Looks a winning hope. VAINSTREAM (2) Will take a lot of beating today and has many positives going into this race. BOOM CHICKA BOOM (7) Form good enough for this field and has found its right type of race. Include in chances. WRITTEN CHOICE (4) Fair type who meets more depth to this field. Would like to see betting push before considering.
Selections: 3 2 7 4

Race 7:
MANOLO BLAHNIQ (11) Well in this on past runs and looks a worthwhile proposition today. Rates a winning chance. PRINCETON SPIRIT (12) Will derive benefit from previous run and should be prominent throughout. Can give this a shake. WISE HERO (3) Continues to improve and looks very well suited here. Each way prospects. INN KEEPER (8) Progressing well this prep and this trip appeals. Should be in the finish.
Selections: 11 12 3 8

Race 8:
FURRION (2) Good looking horse who has a strong action and cannot see many coming close to today. The horse that beats it wins. INSPIRANTE (4) Looks an improver who comes here much fitter. Could go well. LUCKY FOR ALL (3) Racing well and has good claims here. Looks a winning hope. MAHAMEDEIS (1) Don’t dismiss this runner. Should be competitive in this race at a bit of odds.
Selections: 2 4 3 1

Race 9:
OUR PEAKY BLINDERS (5) Continues to race honestly and is a strong chance in this race. Worth consideration. HURSLEY (1) This race looks very suitable and expect this runner to assert their authority at value odds. HE EKSCELS (10) Open race and is right in contention. Every chance in this field so watch the finish. NOUMEA (11) Racing in fair form and is a chance here. Might be one for the placings.
Selections: 5 1 10 11

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 6:
SUN QUAN couldn’t hold on and just missed last start at Caulfield when fresh, commands respect. WRITTEN CHOICE led throughout for a dominant win last start at Caulfield and yet to miss the placegetters, sneaky chance. VAINSTREAM yet to miss the placegetters and won all previous races as a favourite, don’t treat lightly. WASSERGEIST and came on strong to win last start at Pakenham Park when first up and won all previous races as a favourite, could threaten.

Race 7:
WISE HERO resumes after a spell of 16 weeks and winner of two when first-up including ran second at Pakenham Park last go, genuine contender. PRINCETON SPIRIT won last start at Sandown and will likely lead/box seat, in with a chance. INN KEEPER winner of last two at Warrnambool and Terang, place hope. MANOLO BLAHNIQ let-up for 12 weeks and placed in last trial at Cranbourne, quinella.

Race 8:
Impossible to go past the top pick. FURRION unbeaten in all three runs and won all previous races as a favourite, the testing material. RENEGADE on a seven day back-up. Winner at Benalla and placed three times this campaign, place chance. LUCKY FOR ALL winner of last two at Warrnambool and Terang, place hope. MAHAMEDEIS won at big odds last start at Caulfield and is up in journey, chance to place.
Win

Race 9:
There is a clear cut top pick. OUR PEAKY BLINDERS won last start at Morphettville and two wins from six attempts this campaign, key chance. SUNDAY PRAY faded from front position to finish just off the winner last start at Caulfield and rises in distance, place best. NOUMEA came on strong when just beaten last start at Caulfield and has two placings from three runs this prep, capable of getting into the money. HE EKSCELS 2 wins from five attempts this campaign and two of three wins have come from dry ground, place hope.

Race 8, No.12, IN HER TIME

Palmerbet – Racing Team Preview:

1. REDZEL, 2. Impending, 3. In Her Time, 4. Le Romain

Neds – Suggested Runners:

Runners are listed in number order, not order of preference.

Race 6: 1, 4, 13, 14
Race 7: 1, 5, 9, 14
Race 8: 1 Redzel, 9 Thronum, 13 English, 14 Houtzen
Race 9: 1, 2, 8, 15

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
Oneness & Perast go forward & set the speed with Warranty close handy from the good draw. MARSUPIAL accounted for many of these here last start after scoring a perfect run in the race, he draws to race in a similar spot this time around however I’m happy to suggest a couple can turn the tables. SNITZ goes on top, worked into that race from well before the home turn wide out & did a good job, if Lloyd can slot him in & produce a little later this time he’ll be tougher to hold out. Noted MISHANI BULLIT hitting the line well very late in the same race, well worth including.
Selections 1 3 4 13

Race 7:
Speed map difficult to assess as most of these fillies are on a path to the Oaks & step out to this 2000m trip for the first time suggesting they may settle a lot further forward than at their previous starts, Joyfilly Ours does appear the leader on paper though. Here’s my longshot of the day LA SCOPA who will jump from a wide gate & give most a decent start, only lightly raced she was terrific in a sprint home at the Sunshine Coast before having little luck here a fortnight back behind TORVIL when held up, clear very late she closed off encouragingly, 2000m – ideal! TORVIL the hardest to beat.
Selections 9 1 5 14

Race 8:
The big one of the day is the 10,000 where the early pace will come from Thronum, Monsieur Gustave & Redzel nearer the inside with the flying Houtzen charging over to find a spot from her car park draw. From the reasonable gate Kerrin McEvoy shold be able to park the Everest winner REDZEL in the right spot, his record is outstanding, he won this race last year & any cut in the ground won’t worry him at all. Expecting IN HER TIME to be rattling home at the end, she’s races off the pace & needs luck in her races, can’t say she’s had much of late. CARE TO THINK should be closing in late.
Selections 1 Redzel, 12 In Her Time, 4 Care To Think 13 English

Race 9:
Terrific race the last which is one of the final lead ups to the Derby, not much speed on paper however again many are stepping up in distance for the first time, map suggests Dark Dream & the emergency Madison Point the two most likely. Going with CALIFORNIA TURBO who had no luck whatsoever here a fortnight ago when checked twice in the run losing plenty of ground in the process, he’ll race well here & go onto be a force in the Derby. The obvious danger is DARK DREAM who if able to slot over easily from his wide draw will take a ton of running down, step up in trip plays into his hands.
Selections 5 8 13 15

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
MARSUPIAL (4) Capable of another strong showing and is very well suited here. Respect. SNITZ (1) Honest and reliable type of competitor who you can never fault for effort. WARRANTY (13) No surprise to see a win here so don’t leave out of trifectas. Worth keeping safe. MISHANI BULLITT (3) Worth considering in this class so don’t disrespect here. Watch market moves.
Selections: 4 1 13 3

Race 7:
TORVILL (1) Can finish intently and should be highly competitive here. One of the better chances. YOUNGSTAR (14) Coming into fitness now and rates highly here in this event. Can get the job done for the punters. SNOGGING (3) Has the form to feature and is serious race horse. Has claims. ANOTHER DOLLAR (5) Previous form handy. Chance in this field so include in exotics.
Selections: 1 14 3 5

Race 8:
IN HER TIME (12) Flashed home in the TJ after having no favours in the run. Expecting a bold effort. REDZEL (1) Proven Group 1 performer that rates highly against these. Key player. IMPENDING (2) Ran home very strongly to win last start and looks to have come back firing this preparation. Hard to dismiss. THRONUM (9) Will be right up on the speed again and can win this if the pace suits.
Selections: 12 In Her Time, 1 Redzel, 2 Impending, 9 Thronum

Race 9:
HIGHER GROUND (2) Suited in this grade today and can test this field. Looks the one here. DARK DREAM (8) Rates as one of the key chances who can figure in this. Big chance here. OMINECA (13) May find this difficult but is on the way up. Needs some luck and is an each way suggestion. LUCKY FOR ALL (15) Needs to find a few lengths and not out of this. Place chance.
Selections: 2 8 13 15

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 6:
MARSUPIAL Is looking for a hat trick after successive wins at Warwick Farm and this track and distance last start. Has the same weight under the set-weight conditions and has to be the one to beat again. SNITZ Won successive races at Doomben and Grafton earlier in the preparation and was a solid last start third at Doomben. Rates as one of the key chances again. WARRANTY Was a Kensington winner two back and not sure the change of tactics to lead in the Hawkesbury Guineas last start was to his advantage. Reckon she looks for a trail here and can bounce back. FEMME FIREBALL Has been close-up in both runs this preparation and as a winner at the track and distance rates as one of the key chances peaking third-up.

Race 7:
ANOTHER DOLLAR Is a Chris Waller-trained filly who hasn’t missed a place in her five starts to date. Chased home Torvill in the Bracelet last start and did cover ground in the run. Looks a great chance to turn the tables. TORVILL Was placed in the Group I Surround Stakes earlier in the preparation and was too classy in the Bracelet last start. Just needs even luck in running from the wide gate to be the one to beat again. YOUNGSTAR Looks to have some upside for the Chris Waller stable after successive wins at Hawkesbury and Newcastle. Faces a significant rise in grade but I wouldn’t be under-estimating her. LA SCOPA Won successive races at Grafton and Ipswich earlier in the preparation and didn’t get the clearest of runs in the Bracelet last start. Can be in the finish with even luck in running.

Race 8:
REDZEL Was run down in the T.J. Smith last start but the winner Trapeze Artist is going places. His previous form was superb and did win this race last year. Expecting him to bounce back. ENGLISH Was placed in the Galaxy two back before having excuses in the T.J. Smith last start. Looked to be back to her best winning a recent Randwick trial and she is a definite player here. HOUTZEN Has been solid in three runs this preparation at Randwick including a win in the P.J. Bell two back. Has the early speed to overcome the wide draw and expecting her to give plenty of cheek. THRONUM Was run down late when runner-up in the Group I William Reid at Moonee Valley last start. Hasn’t raced for 50-days but runs his best races on the fresh side and will be in this for a long way.

Race 9:
DARK DREAM Hasn’t finished worse than second in seven starts and twice a winner. Has been beaten in close photo finishes at last two starts in the South Pacific Classic at Randwick two back and the Gunsynd Classic at Doomben last start. Has to rate as one of the key chances again. ASTORIA Has struggled over longer trips at last couple of runs but her close second in the Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill three runs back was a solid pointer for this and expecting her to bounce back over the shorter journey. LUCKY FOR ALL Looks to have some upside for the Darren Weir stable winning last two at Terang and Warrnambool. This is a significant class rise but have to respect the stable’s ability to find the right races. HIGHER GROUND Has hit his straps this preparation winning successive races including the Frank Packer Plate this trip last start at Randwick. There is nothing to suggest he isn’t a winninning chance again.

Race 8 #1 Desert Lashes

Palmerbet – Racing Team Preview:

Race 7:
1. TANGLED, 2. Leicester, 3. Runaway, 4. High Sherrif

Neds – Suggested Runners:

Runners are listed in number order, not order of preference.

Race 5: 1, 2, 3, 5
Race 6: 2, 4, 5, 18
Race 7: 1 Tangled, 2 Money Maher, 3 Leicester, 13 High ‘n’ Dry
Race 8: 1, 4, 22, 23

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 5:
PEACEFUL STATE charged home from the tail of the field to take out the Nitschke last start. The step up to a mile won’t worry him. SIRCCONI will be fitter for two runs back from a break. He lines up against his own age group after running fourth behind Lizard Island at Caulfield. DEBT COLLECTOR is only lightly raced and shows promise. He hit the line well here last time. DANGER DEAL raced as though in need of further last start, so perhaps looking for the mile now. SMOOTH LANDING and OVER EXPOSURE are others with claims for multiples.
Selections 1 2 5 6

Race 6:
BERTWHISTLE has been racing in good form of late. She was having her first run for 5 weeks when third to Lipstick Lover at Flemington last Saturday. DR DEPENDABLE has been close up in the finish in two runs back from a spell. He’ll be fitter again and gets out to a more suitable trip. GRACENA finished out of the placings for the first time here two starts ago. Efforts either side of that have been sound, there were excuses for her last time. Others that are worth including in multiples are ALL BAR TWO, ENKI, GOING GAGA and MORE THAN FABULOUS.
Selections 4 13 5 6

Race 7:
HIGH ‘N’ DRY has hit the line hard at his past two outings. He just needs some luck here from the wide gate and he can go one better today. SHERRIF has been racing well in New Zealand and is bred to appreciate the longer trip. LEICESTER covered ground in the Port Adelaide Guineas and stuck on well to finish fourth. He made amends with a win in the Chairmans a fortnight ago. TANGLED was beaten in a photo finish in the Frank Packer Plate last time. Perth galloper MONEY MAHER is not without claims. REZEALIENT and RUNAWAY ran the quinella in the VRC St Leger on Anzac day.
Selections 13 High ‘n’ Dry, 6 Sherrif, 3 Leicester, 1 Tangled

Race 8:
SPLIT LIP came from a long way back to score here at her second run back from a break. She’s meeting a similar lineup today and drops 2kg in weight. DESERT LASHES is much better than her effort in the McKay last week suggests. Have to forgive that and give her another go. BRYAN won well at Oakbank in March then had excuses at Warrnambool last week. He won’t know himself here with the 5.5kg drop in weight. MILITARY FORCES looked good winning at Murray Bridge first up and the step up to 1100m suits. Other hopes: STRAGUN, JACKPOT JOHNNY, ASCENDANCE and SO YOU TOO.
Selections 4 1 9 11

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 5:
PEACEFUL STATE (1) Racing well. Can show a good turn of foot and can figure in this. OVER EXPOSURE (3) Promising chance who is capable of giving a sight. Has the ability to figure. DEBT COLLECTOR (5) This class suits so don’t discard here. Must come into consideration. SMOOTH LANDING (10) One in a race of many hopes. Capable of improving and races as a progressive type.
Selections: 1 3 5 10

Race 6:
BERTWHISTLE (4) Gets a chance to win based on best figures. Genuine contender and likely to be first past the post. GRACENA (5) Is a consistent trier who will be close and can win a tightly contested race. GOING GAGA (11) Keeps improving with racing and can’t be ignored. Exotics chance. ENKI (2) Honest and reliable type of competitor who you can never fault for effort.
Selections: 4 5 11 2

Race 7:
LEICESTER (3) Last start was impressive and no reason to think it can’t win again today. Top selection. HIGH ‘N’ DRY (13) Looks to possess plenty of upside and a strong pace will ensure it is there at the business end. Each way. TANGLED (1) Appears ready to peak on this run, no problems recommending its chances in this. Keen watch. SHERRIF (6) Horse that could spiral up in the ratings. Knockout chance in this.
Selections: 3 Leicester, 13 High ‘n’ Dry, 1 Tangled, 6 Sherrif

Race 8:
SPLIT LIP (4) This class suits well. Going good enough to win this and a clear top pick. DESERT LASHES (1) Look for better showing here and has a definite chance. MILITARY FORCES (11) Mixed form however shown promise on its best efforts. Not without claims. STRAGUN (8) Honest enough runner who is by no means out of this. Multiples chance.
Selections: 4 1 11 8

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 5:
PEACEFUL STATE made ground late to win last start at Morphettville and placed in the Australian Guineas this campaign, big chance. OVER EXPOSURE a track specialist winning twice at Morphettville and two wins from four attempts this campaign, could upset. SIRCCONI expected to settle on speed and all wins have come when faced with dry ground, not the worst. DEBT COLLECTOR won two of three as a favourite and both wins have come in the dry, place chance.

Race 6:
GRACENA 3 wins from six attempts this campaign and running 4.5kg lighter than last start, has solid claims. BERTWHISTLE on a seven day back-up and in strong form with four wins from 10 attempts this campaign, don’t dismiss. LYNCH MOB has two placings from three runs this prep and chased well to fall just short last start at Gawler, the real danger in the race. ENKI gave nothing else a chance to win last start at Strathalbyn and drops in weight, could upset.

Race 7:
LEICESTER 3 wins from seven attempts this campaign and coming off a win at Morphettville, genuine contender. TANGLED placed in the Rosehill Guineas and Australian Derby this campaign, cannot be ruled out. HIGH ‘N’ DRY winner at Sandown and placed twice this campaign, don’t dismiss. MONEY MAHER in strong form with two wins from five attempts this campaign and blinkers come off, quinella.

Race 8:
DESERT LASHES goes well at Morphettville and a winner at first outing this prep, well placed. SPLIT LIP and came on strong to win last start at Morphettville and has multiple wins at the track, could upset. AZAZEL ran two lengths back from the winner last start at Morphettville when fresh and gets a nice run behind a genuine tempo, in with a chance. INVISIBLE GIRL generally strong second-up and came on to finish midfield last start at Morphettville when resuming, strong place chance.

Race 8: 1, 3, 11, 12

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 5:
6, 7 and 16 also accepted here on Friday. Solid speed as you’d expect with these numbers. FALERINA recorded 1-03.04 when she won here back in Feb and that sort of time will take her along way, even in this better company. Don’t mind where she’s drawn either, right there in the middle. Presume she has a little trail in front half and can finish off from there. SASSO CORBARO ($6 in a G2 before a freshen up) and DEMERARA represent some quality in the race. IN GOOD TIME has rewarded favourite backers five out of five times. This obviously her toughest test but I’m loath to knock her.
Selections 3 1 5

Race 6:
Speed not clearly defined. I guess 6 (even 1st-up at 1300m) and 4 could head up front. LE ROMAIN also drew wide in the Doomben 10,000 and it remains to be seen whether he wants to take on that race over this. If they choose this lesser option I am happy to support the decision by backing him though. Every thing he’s offered his prep indicates he’s still that genuine high grade galloper we know and respect. OSBORNE BULLS is creating an impression in Benchmark races and his finish last start did scream ‘back me next start’ to all who saw it. THE MONSTAR had a great prep last time around (for only one win). Look for more of the same from him.
Selections 1 10 6 4

Race 7:
5 and 7 to lead out. DYSLEXIC should find herself in a lovely spot and she’s made some leaps and bounds already this prep. GHISONI has blinkers applied for the first time but does jump out of a wide draw. Find some cover will be her first aim in the race. 3rd-up she’s ready to peak. SIREN’S FURY pulled out a lovely win on resumption but runs the risk of getting ‘buried’ from the inside gate. DANISH TWIST is the only girl in the field that has raced at Scone before. She won this race two years ago but hasn’t saluted since and looks below her best of late.
Selections 10 1 12 8

Race 8:
This is a ripper race to close proceedings, although we may lose a couple as 9, 10, 12 and 15 are dual acceptors. GLENALL and SPENDING TO WIN had a spirited duel at Hawkesbury and reconvene here at a track where neither have previously raced. TERRAVISTA may not be in the conversation for ‘world’s best sprinter’ these days but he did produce a G1 2nd to Redzel only three starts ago. Hard to rule out then, 61 and all. QUATRONIC won this last year (beating Deploy, Dothraki, Nieta) but form before and since a break doesn’t indicate a repeat.
Selections 3 11 1 8

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 5:
DEMERARA (1) Consistent animal. Racing in good fashion and a definite winning chance in what appears a suitable race. SHEIKHA (4) Sure to figure prominently and appears a value chance. Worth an each way bet in this. SASSO CORBARO (3) Has the talent to figure and presents solid claims in this. Consider an each way bet. SHE KNOWS (5) No need to be put off this runner by the market. The race looks open to an upset and this runner could cause it.
Selections: 1 4 3 5

Race 6:
OSBORNE BULLS (10) A horse that appeals in all areas to punters. This horse has a fantastic opportunity to deliver in this race. LE ROMAIN (1) Improvement looks assured and is worth another throw at the stumps. Could sneak a place. FIRSTHAND (11) Keeps improving with racing and can’t be ignored. Exotics chance. INVINCIBLE GEM (4) Only fair of late however can make amends here. One at a bit of odds.
Selections: 10 1 11 4

Race 7:
GHISONI (1) This class suits well. Going good enough to win this and a clear top pick. DYSLEXIC (10) Reliable type who gets the ideal position for this latest opportunity. Will take some beating today. SCHISM (7) Previous form handy. Chance in this field so include in exotics. NANCY (2) Can feature on best ratings. May need to find that to figure here and could easily threaten.
Selections: 1 10 7 2
