Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Manchester City

Back Man City in the head-to-head at 1.26 (Unibet)

Despite the short odds I’m still prepared to back Manchester City. They have gone 16-2-1 away from home over the last 12 months, with their 16 from 19 result equating to fair odds of 1.1875. Even with Kevin De Bruyne out, Man City are still worth backing given their enviable squad depth. Last week they thrashed Huddersfield 6-1 away from home. Wolverhampton came into the league with high expectations but were held to a 2-2 home draw with Everton and were defeated 2-0 away against Leicester City. Of Man City’s 16 away wins, only 9 were by 2+ goals, equating to fair odds of 2.11, so I’m not prepared to back them in the -1.5 Asian Handicap at 1.75. I will instead take them in the head-to-head.

Huddersfield vs. Cardiff City

Back under 2.5 goals at 1.54 (Betfair)

Goals have been hard to come by for both teams, who will be desperate to avoid defeat against a fellow relegation rival. Huddersfield have scored just four goals in their last 12 EPL fixtures, with no more than one goal in any of those fixtures. Cardiff City have yet to score since being promoted, but Neil Warnock has been setting them up to be hard to break down, as showcased by their 0-0 draw with Newcastle. In Gameweek 1 Cardiff lost 2-0 to Bournemouth, who field a stronger attacking threat than Huddersfield, so a sub 2.5-goal game looks likely.

Bournemouth vs. Everton

Back Bournemouth +0.5 at 1.55 (Betfair)

Bournemouth have gone 7-4-1 as the home favourite over the last 12 months and 2-1-0 at home against Everton since earning promotion. Spanning this season and the last, they bring a four-game winning streak into this clash. Everton have started solidly with an away draw against Wolves and a win over Southampton, but they have a poor 3-6-10 away record over the last 12 months and have gone 2-5-10 as the away underdog.

Arsenal vs. West Ham

Back Arsenal in the head-to-head at 1.38 (Unibet)
Back Arsenal -1.5 at 2.00 (bet365)

Both sides have failed to pick up a point in the opening two rounds, but Arsenal have looked the more convincing of the two. They were unlucky not to have picked up a point at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea last week, while West Ham slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth. Arsenal have won 6 of their last 7 at home against West Ham, with 5 of those wins coming by 2+ goal margins and 4 coming by 3+ goal margins. Arsenal have gone 14-0-1 as the home favourite over the last 12 months.

Back over 2.5 goals at 1.45 (TopBetta)

Eleven of the last 14 meetings between the two resulted in more than 2.5 goals. With Arsenal still adjusting to Unai Emery’s desire for them to play from the back, they continue to cough up the ball in dangerous areas, while West Ham have conceded 6 goals in their two games this season. Arsenal scored at least 3 goals in 4 of their last 5 home fixtures against West Ham.

Liverpool vs. Brighton

Back Liverpool to win to nil at 1.92 (Neds)

Liverpool strengthened during the summer with a focus on defensive acquisitions and they have started the season with two clean sheets. Nine of their 12 home wins last season were to nil and they beat Brighton 4-0 at Anfield in May.

Back Liverpool -1.5 at 1.46 (Mad Bookie)

Ten of Liverpool’s 12 home wins last season were by 2+ goals, with 9 coming by 3+ goals. They beat Brighton by 4-goal margins in both meetings last season. Of Brighton’s 12 away defeats last season, 9 were by 2+ goal margins.

Man Utd vs. Tottenham

Back Man Utd +0.5 at 1.44 (bet365)
Back Man Utd in the head-to-head at 2.65 (Unibet)

Man Utd have gone 13-2-1 as the home favourite over the last 12 months and 6-1-0 on the back of a defeat. They have won 6 of their last 8 home games against Tottenham. Tottenham have gone 1-1-3 as the away underdog over the last 12 months.

Back Man Utd to win by 1 goal at 4.10 (BetEasy)
Back Man Utd to win 1-0 at 9.00 (bet365)

The last three meetings between the two at Old Trafford resulted in 1-0 wins to Manchester United.
