Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 4:
NATURE STRIP (2) Resuming. Previously trained by D K Weir. Wasn’t far away in Open company at Caulfield first-up last campaign. Has a good record over this trip. The one to beat. VOODOO LAD (1) Returning from let-up. Reliable gelding. Timed run to perfection to score at Ascot last start. Loves this track/distance. Strong claims. TAVISAN (8) Resuming. Rough chance for minors.
Selections: 2 Nature Strip, 1 Voodoo Lad, 8 Tavisan, 3 Jungle Edge

Race 6:
BROOKLYN HUSTLE (6) Back from a let-up. Winner at only start. Include among the better chances. CATCH ME (1) Undefeated galloper. Quickened smartly to score here first-up. Will only be fitter. Drawn well. Can play a key role. ATHIRI (5) Returning from let-up. Saluted at debut and will be greatly improved by the experience. Can’t be taken lightly.
Selections: 6 Brooklyn Hustle, 1 Catch Me, 5 Athiri, 4 Lankan Star

Race 7:
RINGADINGDING (1) First-up. Formerly with D K Weir. Handy galloper. Nice gate. Worth some thought. GOOD ‘N’ FAST (3) First-up. Has come up with a horror draw. Could sneak a place at odds. DEALMAKER (5) Worked home solidly to place at Randwick first-up. Strips fitter. Can figure.
Selections: 1 Ringadingding, 3 Good ‘N’ Fast, 5 Dealmaker, 2 Aramayo

Race 8:
WHISPERING BROOK (16) Previously trained by D K Weir. Shooting for 4 wins in a row. Quickened smartly to score at Moonee Valley last outing. Keep in mind. KEMENTARI (4) First-up. Wasn’t far away in G2 company at Randwick first-up last campaign. Suited over this distance. Drawn favourably. Rates highly. BRAVE SMASH (1) Formerly with D K Weir. Just battled home in same class at Moonee Valley at latest. Place makes best appeal.
Selections: 16 Whispering Brook, 4 Kementari, 1 Brave Smash, 2 Redkirk Warrior

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 4:
SPEED: 2, 3 can go hard. 8 just off those. NATURE STRIP is the best horse in this country up to 1100m in my humble opinion. As we saw in the Moir Stakes though, he is not unbeatable if he fails to harness that energy/talent early. VOODOO LAD is a ripper. He’ll be sitting back hoping they overcook things up front and will be charging. He loves Caulfield/1100m. TAVISAN is trialling well.
Selections: 2. Nature Strip, 1. Voodoo Lad, 8. Tavisan, 3. Jungle Edge

Race 6:
Up to five newbies here. All have shown ability but will need to be smart to win this as a few of the raced brigade have shown elite-level talent. BROOKLYN HUSTLE resumes and her recent trial was was excellent. The debut win was outstanding, her last 600m split of 33.1 some 9.5 lengths above the overall average. ATHIRI also resumes. She thrashed Accession on debut. That two-year-old then won brilliantly at Rosehill and ran time. Athiri’s recent trial win was a beauty! CATCH ME sat deep here in Preview yet was too stoing. Doubt she’s wide here from gate 3. 1100m suits. LYRE next best for mine.
Selections: 6. Brooklyn Hustle, 5. Athiri, 1. Catch Me, 8. Lyre

Race 7:
Speed? Maybe 9 leads 10. 7, 4 take sits. 5, 11 next? DEALMAKER was a good thing beaten fresh at Randwick against older horses. They ran time. He flew late second up last prep (beat home The Autumn Sun). RINGERDINGDING came of age last prep. At start of that campaign he rushed home in Rosebud at 1100m. This trip suits. ARAMAYO is a good horse with no poor runs on his CV: suited 1400m fresh also. SOCIAL SPIN is match-fit and flying. He beat Long Leaf two back, which ties in with pointy-end G1 3YOs. DECLARES WAR could be anything. HAWKSHOT could be 5 from 7 with more luck (and race sense!).
Selections: 5. Dealmaker, 7. Hawkshot, 4. Social Spin, 1. Ringerdingding

Race 8:
SPEED: 3, 9 can lead 11, 13 with 1, 16 off them. KEMENTARI was winless last prep but his Memsie run here was enormous and his fresh run to kickoff that campaign was a cracker, in fast time, and he arguably should have won. Loving his trials! D’ARGENTO sat wide yet beat home Kementari when first up last prep and was only 3L off Winx that day. Wish he’d gone through the line better in his latest trial is all. LAND OF PLENTY was terrific first up. All his runs last prep were fabulous. WHISPERING BROOK, BEST OF DAYS, REDKIRK WARRIOR and FIFTY STARS all hopes!
Selections: 4. Kementari, 6. D’argento, 7. Land Of Plenty, 16. Whispering Brook

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 4:
NATURE STRIP Has an impressive record with eight wins from 12 starts including the McEwan Stakes at Moonee Valley during the Spring. Resumes for a new trainer and would only have to be in the same form to be the one to beat. VOODOO LAD Hasn’t raced for 10-weeks since winning the Winterbottom Stakes during the Perth Carnival. Is another that has had a change of stables but all things being equal will be more than competitive here. ILLUSTRIOUS LAD Finished runner-up at Sale last start and although this is harder deserves consideration with a 4kg weight drop. JUNGLE EDGE Rates a place chance on dry ground but would come right into play if there is any rain about.

Race 6:
CATCH ME Won the Gimcrack Stakes on debut at Randwick in her only first preparation run and was too strong in the Preview resuming last start. Still has plenty of scope for improvement and is the testing material again. ATHIRI Was an impressive debut winner at Rosehill last December. Hasn’t raced for 10-weeks but has won a Rosehill trial in the interim and the James McDonald booking looks a significant lead. PELICAN Was a Morphettville Parks winner at his only race start. Resumes without a trial with a set of winkers for the first time and will be respecting betting moves with the Hayes and Dabernig polish. BROOKLYN HUSTLE Was ultra-impressive winning at Moonee Valley on debut. If she can replicate that effort here, she would be right in the finish.

Race 7:
SOCIAL SPIN Is chasing a hat trick of wins after successive victories at Flemington and Caulfield. Is yet another that has changed stables and only needs to have settled into the new surroundings to be winning again. HAWKSHOT Was a Sandown Lakeside winner two back before finishing runner-up at Moonee Valley last start. Running out a strong 1400m looks the only concern. ARAMAYO Resumes and has the benefit of a trial. Was placed at Kembla resuming last time in and isn’t without place prospects fresh here. RINGERDINGDING Won successive races at Flemington and Sandown Hillside before spelling. No trial to guide us and a change of stable but all things being equal is more than capable of being in the finish.

Race 8:
LAND OF PLENTY Will be having his first start for a new stable after hitting the line strongly when third in the Australia Stakes resuming last start. There is a distinct spike in his ratings second-up and if he is in the same form with the change of stables will take a power of beating. REDKIRK WARRIOR Hit the line strongly when just over two-lengths from the winner in the Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley resuming last start. Has won four from seven second-up and is right in play. FIFTY STARS Looked a potential Group I horse winning successive races at Flemington and Sandown Hillside to make it six wins from nine starts. Hit the line solidly finishing on the placegetters heels in the Australia Stakes resuming and is right in this fitter second-up stepping up to 1400m WHISPERING BROOK Has won three on the trot including the Group II Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley last start. Will be right on the speed and will be in the race for a long way.

Alassio (3 stars)
Takookacod (3 stars)

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
EGYPTIAN SYMBOL (3) Freshened. Overall record sound. Ridden patiently and let down smartly to salute at Gold Coast first-up. Can’t be taken lightly. COOL PASSION (2) Resuming. Has a good first up record. This trip suits. Drawn to effect. Can play a role. CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES (4) Talented mare. Let down strongly from back half to place at Flemington first-up. Fitter. Drawn well.
Selections: 3 Egyptian Symbol, 2 Cool Passion, 4 Champagne Cuddles, 5 White Moss

Unibet – From the Trader’s Desk:

Race 6 – #4 Champagne Cuddles – LAY BET – bet against this horse with Betfair
Race 8 – #5 Tangled – BEST BET
Race 9 – #10 Matowi – VALUE BET

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
9 and 5 can lead 2 and 4. EGYPTIAN SYMBOL has been runner-up in this the last two years (to In Her Time in 2017, Prompt Response last year), both times as favourite and both times coming back from competing on Magic Millions day. Her win up there this year would indicate she is going as well as ever. CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES should just land in a perfect trailing spot and that advantage may be crucial. EGYPTIAN tends to get back but the likes of NETTOYER and TAKOOKACOD will be beyond her here. Drawing outside though, she will need some things to fall her way to ensure she is not posted and doing it tough throughout.
Selections: 3. Egyptian Symbol, 4. Champagne Cuddles, 2. Cool Passion, 9. Alassio

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 6:
CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES chased well to fall just short last start at Flemington when first up and carries a lot less weight, key chance. COOL PASSION let-up for 12 weeks. Can’t knock the form winning two in a row at Sandown and Flemington, dangerous. ALASSIO rates well on a softer track and goes down in weight, not without each-way claims. EGYPTIAN SYMBOL won at big odds last start at Gold Coast when first up and won four of nine as a favourite, place only.
