New Zealand Breakers

Last Round- Brisbane wowed and Brisbane shocked, as they caused absolute chaos in their tight 87-80 victory over Sydney last round. This was their 7th win of the season and in turn, leaves them in 7th place. They are only a win of a finals spot now. Their key Q for them was the 2nd, they won that 27-16. Magnay had 23PTS, 14REB, 1AST, 1STL and 2BL. Patterson had 15PTS and 3AST as he converted three from three-point range. Sobey had 12PTS, 5REB, 3AST and 1STL. Cadee also had 8PTS + 4AST against his old side, among his other stats.

With the clock winding down, who else but Scotty Hopson to hit the insane winner for NZ??? He was absolutely clutch in his sides two-point, 91-89 win over the Hawks last round. The much-needed win leaves NZ currently occupying 8th spot with six wins to their name. But now they’re only two wins of an improbable finals berth. Their key Q was the 1st, which they won 23-17. Hopson had 21PTS, 8REB and 5AST. Henry had 21PTS, 2REB, 5AST and 3STL. Loe had 13PTS, 2REB, 1AST and 1BL.

Key Battle- Patterson vs Hopson. These two star players both play for bad teams. However, both can individually define the outcome of a game of their own doings. They’ll keep this match competitive for their two sides respectively.

Betting tip: Pick Brisbane to win at $1.55 (UniBet, BetEasy)

Perth Wildcats

Last Round- Sydney are 1st with a record of 13W’s and 10L’s. This comes after their 110-98 victory over SEM last round. The key Q for Sydney was the 2nd, which they won 30-20. Of the starters, both Newley with 16PTS and Tate with 14 scored in double-figures. But it was their bench players who won them this one. Among Cooks other stats he had 9PTS and 9REB. Kickert had 18PTS, 2REB and 1AST as he went a perfect 4/4 from deep. Taylor had 15PTS, 1REB, 1AST and 1STL. Bruce had 12PTS, 2REB and a nice 5AST.

Perth are currently 2nd with a record of 12W’S and 6L’s next to their name. Their last game was an upset 87-74 defeat to Melbourne. Them losing the 3rd Q 22-14 was crucial in the context of them being defeated. Cotton had 15PTS, 2REB, 3AST and 3STL. White had 14PTS, 2REB and 3AST. He converted 66.7% of his two-point attempts. Kay had 11PTS, 5REB, 2AST and 2STL. He on the other-hand, shot a terrible 30% on his two-point attempts.

Key Battle- Ware vs Cotton. Two of the best PG’s go head-to-head in this top of the table clash. This is surely a game you won’t want to miss!!!

Illawarra Hawks

Last Round- SEM found it tough playing away from home last round as they went down to the ladder-leading Kings 110-98. SEM put a ounce of respectability back on the score-line as they won the 4th, 27-22. The result leaves them in 6th, one win of a finals spot. Roberson had 25PTS, 1REB and 5AST. Adnam went wild against his ex-team posting stats of 24PTS, 1REB, 5AST and 1STL. Creek had 16PTS, 12REB, 2AST and 3STL.

Hopson broke the Hawks hearts last round as he hit the late shot to hand them a 91-89 defeat. The Hawks are currently rooted at the bottom of the table with a disappointing 12 losses from 16 match’s played. Crucially for Illawarra, they lost Q1 23-17. Key Battle- Roberson vs Dech. Neither are the star players of their teams, but both are very good shooters. When they’re on, oh boy are they on! They’ll both make solid if not great contributions to their sides in this one.

New Zealand Breakers

Last Round- Adelaide are currently 5th with a record of 8W’s and 9L’s on the season. Their last match was a poor 94-86 defeat against Cairns. The 1st Q saw them lose by 14 points, 31-17. And McVeigh had 10 + 2REB.

The Breakers through 16 match’s played have 6W’s and 10L’s. However, they seemed to have turned around their season as of late and are edging closer and closer to a shock finals berth. They opened last round with a 90-84 victory over SEM. They crucially won Q3, 26-19. Hopson had 24PTS, 9REB, 3AST and 1BL. Henry had 17PTS, 2REB, 4AST and 1STL. Abercrombie had 15PTS, 1REB, 1AST and 1STL. He shot a very nice 6/9 from the court.

What Should Happen- Johnson vs Abercrombie. Two frustratingly inconsistent players. Two players who are both also crucial to their sides pursuit of W’s. They polarize opinions, but they’ll need to be good on the court to give their side a chance of a victory in this encounter.

Betting tip: Pick Adelaide to win at $1.50 (BlueBet, Bet365, UniBet)

Key Battle- Barlow vs Braun. Barlow’s been quite a handy contributor to Melbourne this season. Braun on the other-hand has been, well, Bullets fans aren’t happy with him that’s for sure. But Brisbane need their best, marquee men to step up and he is one of them. Only time will tell though. Barlow’s good for a decent effort though.

What Should Happen- Blanchfield vs Newley. Both can score large amounts of PPG. Both are Forwards and at various points should be matched up on one another. Whether they”re hot or cold will be an interesting factor to look out for in this game.
