Ipswich Race 7: No. 4 Boomsara and No. 5 Pennino

Belmont

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 5:
The exciting CHANTREA will be red figures to stretch her unbeaten sequence to six in the feature Belmont Classic. In a tactical Belmont Oaks, with Pike forced to make an early three-wide move, this filly was challenged but showed her class late to draw clear for a convincing triumph. With no real tempo engaged, gate one is a query, but if “The Wizard” does his job Chantrea should be winning. CAMBIST has been mighty in the Belmont Guineas and Oaks, and is capable of exposing any chinks in the favourite’s armour. MAROCCHINO and EURASIA in a high-rating Aquanita Stakes were both rock-solid.
Selections: 6. Chantrea (top tip), 5. Cambist, 3. Marocchino, 2. Eurasia

Ipswich

Unibet – The Professor:

Race 7: Pennino
Race 9: Jami Lady

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 7:
BOOMSARA (4) Having second run back from a break. Boxed on gamely when 4th last start at Grafton. Expecting improvement today but won’t be far away during the run. Rates a winning chance. MR BELLAGIO (9) Found another gear when winning last run at Gold Coast and tracking very well this campaign. Could go well. DEEP IMAGE (1) Worked hard to place 3rd two runs back at Eagle Farm and let up. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. No surprise to see a forward showing and one of the main hopes in this race. PENNINO (5) Ran on strongly when 3rd last start at Eagle Farm. Must respect in this event.

Race 9:
JAMI LADY (4) Bold effort to win last start at Eagle Farm and expecting to settle positively. Ultra competitive this preparation with 2 wins from 2 starts. Could take beating. MULTAJA (2) Was $4 and ran 6th last start at Eagle Farm but dropping in grade. Displays good finishing speed. Expected to fight out the finish. SOLAR STAR (9) Solid effort when winning two runs back at Eagle Farm and dropping weight today. Shows good early pace. Won’t be far away and represents an each way player. RIVER RACER (5) Racing for the second time this week. Kept finding the line when 3rd last run at Sunshine Coast but will have to carry extra weight today. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Must come into consideration.

Race 7:
Like most Eye-Liner’s there is very good speed here and there will be horses bursting through everywhere the last 100m for a blanket finish. PENNINO was wide the trip last start and still good through the line at Listed level. The start before that she was a good thing beaten in easier grade. Looks to map midfield and if the gaps come at the right time she can win. BANDIPUR has been good without a lot of luck this prep also. He has been up for a while and he is another who will need luck in the straight as he’s likely to get back. Not convinced BOOMSARA is in his very best form but the Ramornie run looks a fair pointer for this and can strip fitter. MR BELLAGIO is 54 days between runs and comes here off career best form. Fradd takes the ride, he’s another who gets back and might just need some breaks like the others mentioned.
Selections: 5. Pennino, 2. Bandipur, 4. Boomsara, 9. Mr Bellagio

Race 9:
Another race where there will be good speed and may be another blanket finish. JAMI LADY has come back a stronger horse this time in work and was a dominant Listed winner last start against a lot of these. She can jump to the front and then just decide what she wants to do. I’d say they probably decide to box seat and give her every chance to run out a strong 1350m. PERSAUDER meets all of these better off at the weights from that last run. She was three wide the trip there and just peaked late. She will improve but the gate is a bit of a hurdle. SHALWA also has the wide gate and she will have to work to get across. If she can get at least one cheap sectional she can be hard to run down. RIVER RACER is just a good quality mare on the backup and she is more than up to this grade. Her and SHALWA look the ones over the odds both at double figures.
Selections: 6. Shalwa, 4. Jami Lady, 5. River Racer, 10. Persuader

Race 7:
The Listed Eye Liner is always a very competitive race & this year looks no different. Tarzan should be able to hold them out from the pole draw, he’ll be tested though with nos.1, 7 &14 the most likely, 4, 6, 10, & possibly 9 all up there also. Going to stick with PENNINO who was a good thing beaten two back then raced wide all the way in an unsuitably run race last time, this is her right trip & she can be strong late with a decent run. BOOMSARA maps well enough to win, just not sure if he’s the same horse we saw in his earlier days? SHARPE HUSTLER a knockout chance from the back.
Selections: 5. Pennino (top tip), 4. Boomsara, 11. Sharpe Hussler, 3. Tarzan

Race 9:
The Listed Gai Waterhouse rounds out the big day & there’s one given here & that’s a strong tempo, nos.1, 4, 6, 7, 9, 16 & 17 all race on the lead or on pace. Class rise for AMACITIA however she’s way down in the weights & is unbeaten here, held up last start I still thought she was beaten fair & square late, keep in mind that was behind Star Of Michelin though who is certainly no slouch. MULTAJA hasn’t won beyond 1200m, this looks suitable though particularly should the leaders go nuts early. Her latest run was good against the tempo, cannot overlook her. JAMI LADY box seat? AKAGE a roughie.
Selections: 14. Amicitia (top tip), 2. Multaja, 4. Jami Lady, 5. River Racer

Morphettville

Race 5:
INSTANT CELEBRITY (8) Solid effort when winning last start at this venue and fitter for debut run. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Could prove hard to beat. SUPER STRIKER (2) Won narrowly last run at Murray Bridge but up in grade. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this campaign. Right in this. KAHAYLAAN (4) Spaced the field to win two runs back at Gawler and can save some energy from the barrier. Serious player. FOXGOSSIP (1) Was very impressive when winning last run at Sale and will try to take advantage of the gate. Can’t be left out of trifectas.

bet365 – Suggested Play:

Race 5: The Brumby and The Krone

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 5:
A good lineup here, six of the 12 are last start winners. SUPER STRIKER pulled out plenty to score at Murray Bridge a fortnight ago. His form prior to that was good and he’s bred to handle the longer trip. FOXGOSSIP led all the way to win a Sale maiden at his third outing. He has drawn favourably here in gate 2. KAHAYLAAN was a bit one paced in the run to the line at Balaklava last time, indicating that the step up to 1400m will suit. ANOTHER AWARD has been close up in the finish at her past two outings. THE BRUMBY and INSTANT CELEBRITY are others with claims.
Selections: 2. Super Striker (top tip), 1. Foxgossip, 4. Kahaylaan, 9. Another Award

Randwick
