Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
GENERAL BEAU (1) Left nothing to chance when winning last time around here and having second run today. Should prove hard to beat. VINLAGO (8) Initial appearance for Richard Griffiths 2yo by I Am Invincible. Should give this a shake. EXCELA BELLA (10) Exceed And Excel 2yo on debut for trainer Adrian Bott & Gai Waterhouse. Can’t leave out of your calculations. FAKE LOVE (11) Ciaron Maher and David Eustace 2yo first starter by I Am Invincible. Place claims at least today.

Race 2:
SEPTEMBER RUN (8) Won last run around here and third up. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Expect to go close. MINHAAJ (7) Spaced the field to win three runs back at this track and likely to race off the speed. Can give this a shake. VALAQUENTA (2) Having second run back from a break. Game effort to win two runs back at Caulfield but up in class. This field suits. PORTLAND SKY (5) Left nothing to chance when winning two runs back at Ballarat and can find a nice position from the draw. Has the ability to figure.

Race 3:
BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER (4) Was average finishing 13th last time at Caulfield. Expecting improvement today and proven performer at this distance in the past. Shows good early pace. Will be in the finish. FASCINO (10) Having second run back from a spell. Went out at $9 and finished 7th last time at Caulfield but displays good finishing speed. Appears well in this. MUNITIONS (8) Back after spell of more than 1 year. Ended up almost 11l from the winner at Deauville last time on a good surface. Should be suited and likely to race off the speed. Exotics chance. LEGIONNAIRE (12) Flashed home late into 3rd last time at Caulfield and third up from a break. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Could run into the money.

Race 4:
TOFANE (4) Races well second up winning 2 from 3 runs. Game effort to win two runs back at Randwick and gets a nice run behind the speed. Can dominate and win. SANTA ANA LANE (6) Snuck in a place when 2nd three runs back at Randwick and displays very good finishing speed. Must respect in this event. ZOUTORI (2) Got the upper hand late when winning last time here and always seems to find the line well. Winning chance in what appears a suitable race. THE INEVITABLE (5) Goes well second up with 2 wins from 3 starts. Rocketed home into 2nd three runs back here and should get going late. Has to be included.

Race 5:
SUCCEED INDEED (5) Winner last time at Sandown and shows good finishing speed. Could take beating. THERMOSPHERE (1) Showed a good turn of foot when 2nd three runs back at Randwick. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Could go well. MISS GUGGENHEIM (11) Having second run back from a spell. Brave effort to win last start at Geelong but up in class. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Could sneak a place. QUEEN OF ROCKS (3) Did a good job when winning two runs back at Ballarat but facing a stronger class. Capable of a place and a good chance.

Race 6:
SCHABAU (12) Snuck in a place when 3rd last start at the track and shows good early pace. Capable of getting into the money. SHARED AMBITION (2) Flew home into 2nd last time at Randwick but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Will be trying to topple them late. Respect. STEEL PRINCE (4) Stormed home when 3rd last start at Caulfield and should get going late. Can’t knock. LORD BELVEDERE (5) Second up from a spell. Brave effort to win last run at the track and has a positive barrier. Respect.

Race 7:
VERRY ELLEEGANT (9) Races well third up winning 3 from 4 attempts. Brave effort to win two runs back at Randwick and displays good closing speed. Worth strong consideration. SURPRISE BABY (3) Solid win three runs back at this venue and shows very good finishing speed. Strong claims. SUPERSTORM (14) Snuck in a place when 2nd three runs back at Caulfield and always seems to find the line well. Marginal hopes. MASTER OF WINE (6) Got going late when 4th last start at this course and third up from a spell. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Better hope.

Race 8:
PERFECT JEWEL (6) Racing for the second time this week. Did a good job when winning three runs back at Caulfield. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value. MADAM ROUGE (5) Nice effort to run into 2nd three runs back at Eagle Farm and having third run back from a break. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Warrants a bet. RUBISAKI (2) Got the upper hand late when winning two runs back at Randwick and shows good finishing speed. Winning hope. PRETTY BRAZEN (3) Really dug deep when winning two runs back here but goes up in weight. Always seems to find the line well. Must respect.

Race 9:
YOUNG WERTHER (14) Winner last start at Geelong and fitter for debut run. Worth a ticket. WISE COUNSEL (4) Won narrowly last time at Caulfield but up against stronger competition. Definite claims. ALCYONE (3) Second up from a break. Landed the spoils when winning two runs back at this track and will appreciate the drop in grade. Could be a value selection. LUNAR FOX (1) Backs up quickly today. Ended up 4.2l behind the winner at Moonee Valley last run on a soft surface but looks well graded. Some place claims.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
NOTE: Rail is 7m. Was 4m here Sept 23 and there was no pattern evident. Of the raced here, GENERAL BEAU had a clear margin over FINANCE TYCOON and GUMMY BEAR on debut. The rest are all on debut: NAPLES ran much quicker time than stablemate CLOUDY at the Flemington jumpouts 25/9. ENUFF ALREADY was close up behind Cloudy. VINLAGO looks sharp. FAKE LOVE’s latest jumpout was lovely work to my eye.
Selections: 1. General Beau (top tip), 11. Fake Love, 12. Naples, 8. Vinlago

Race 2:
SEPTEMBER RUN produced a big last 600m figure to win here (ridden colder!). In fact, her 32.24 last 600m was the fastest all day by around half a second (say 3L). She beat Swats That, who won very well last Friday night. MINHAAJ was close up in that same race and only 1st-up that day. VALAQUENTA returned gelded at Caulfield and just missed but did beat FOREVER FREE, with PORTLAND SKY the hard-luck story. That race rated well also. PIONEER RIVER jumped out well before wide/forgive run that same race.
Selections: 8. September Run (top tip), 2. Valaquenta, 5. Portland Sky, 7. Minhaaj

Race 3:
Good speed: 4 leads 5. 6,12 handy. FASCINO jumped out well before the fresh run but had no luck! She looked to be bolting to my eye! 2nd up last prep she crossed line with Pretty Brazen in the Kewney despite having little luck that day also. LEGIONNAIRE was run off his feet staying at 1200m 2nd-up in a fast race. Love the way he found the line. He won 3rd up last prep beating Tenley, who was fourth behind Pretty Brazen/Fashion in that same Kewney Stakes. BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER can win this on his G1 Memsie run, where he led at fierce speed and held on well. They took a sit latest: forgive!
Selections: 12. Legionnaire (top tip), 10. Fascino, 4. Begood Toya Mother, 8. Munitions

Race 4:
ZOUTORI was tough winning the Bobbie Lewis here fresh beating TOFANE and THE INEVITABLE. He’s just as effective second up but I do think Tofane can turn the tables on him here. She was race-fastest 400m-to-200m that day then fifth-fastest home so fancy she peaked on her run with 58kg. She carries that same weight here but meets the other two 3kg and 2.5kg better, respectively. DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR was right with them then ran a great race in G1 Rupert Clarke. SANTA ANA LANE always runs well fresh but is better second up. KEMENTARI is, well, in the ”please yourself” basket. Nice trial.
Selections: 4. Tofane (Best of the Day), 2. Zoutori, 5. The Inevitable, 7. Kementari

Race 5:
SPEED: 8, 10 may lead 6. 9 & 1 can be handy but they all draw out. 13, 14 up there. 7 if jumps? THERMOSPHERE was back/wide against pattern two back yet ran on well then was too wide last time, 1600m an unknown. SUCCEED INDEED is proven at the 1600m having run strong closing figures to win a BM70 last start. SILHOUETTE ($14 early, value?) blew the start in the Moloney Stakes then ran home nicely. She sits closer if she jumps today. YES BABY YES held on well that same race. CHICA FUERTA was beaten by Cambourne latest. He just ran well in Guineas lead-up. STARELLE improves here with blinkers on!
Selections: 1. Thermosphere (top tip), 7. Silhouette, 5. Succeed Indeed, 8. Chica Fuerte

Race 6:
SPEED: 10 leads 3, 8, 13 but others can be handy. SHARED AMBITION had the better of CREEDENCE last spring and looks ready to win if they’re here. Creedence beat DABIYR (luckily) last time and that horse was no match for a few of these in a fast Naturalism. IN GOOD HEALTH worked early in that race and ran enormous. $26 early looks crazy talk. STEEL PRINCE beat her home but draws wide today. LORD BELVEDERE ran down PERSAN and SCHABAU here and was 10 weeks between runs. Schabau peaks now? Ready to win! KINANE might be a ”Flemington horse” but we are going to see other people now …
Selections: 2. Shared Ambition (top tip), 10. In Good Health, 12. Schabau, 4. Steel Prince

Race 7:
SPEED: 11, 12, 5 likely settle first three. 6, 9 take trail. VERRY ELLEEGANT was outstanding winning fresh then less dynamic last time but fancy that was the effect of such a big effort first up, rather than the fact the track was firm? She is so well weighted in this race and desperate for 2000m. The last time MASTER OF WINE was at 2000m he was 2L off Verry Elleegant in a hot Queen Elizabeth despite a wide run. He meets her 1kg better this scale. VOW AND DECLARE ran well in Makybe with plenty against. DALASAN was genuine. SURPRISE BABY a hope. FINCHE rolls forward/has a case. SUPERSTORM 1400-to-2000m?
Selections: 9. Verry Elleegant (top tip), 6. Master Of Wine, 12. Finche, 14. Superstorm

Race 8:
Speed looks genuine: 1, 13, 16 go forward from wide. 10 handy (if jumps) with 4, 14, 15, 8. MADAM ROUGE has drawn the carpark both runs back and savaged the line, suspect she’s flying and she draws a gate. PRETTY BRAZEN beat her home in G1 Rupert Clarke against males and beat Arcadia Queen before that, she is also flying! SAVATIANO disappointed last time. She can have an off day. RUBISAKI never has them so that fresh run was a head-scratcher. PERFECT JEWEL beat Madam Rouge/Pretty Brazen in the Cockram and was excellent last Friday night.
Selections: 5. Madam Rouge (top tip), 6. Perfect Jewel, 3. Pretty Brazen, 1. Savatiano

Race 9:
Not sure what to do here!? Many different formlines and some of them are very suspect (moderate times/blanket finishes). LUNAR FOX and ALCYONE come through the best race. Lunar Fox was honest whilst Alcyone only warmed up late. ALBARADO beat Alcyone on debut, he and THE BRUMBY ran on well here at 1400m in a race dominated closer to the speed. KHOEKHOE covered ground here last time. He looked gone but came again late (last 200m only 4/100ths off that of Cherry Tortoni). To 1800m/the value? No shock DEEPSTRIKE gets blinkers on!
Selections: 2. Khoekhoe (value bet), 9. The Brumby, 6. Albarado, 3. Alcyone

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
DISCHARGED (2) Solid effort when winning last run around here and should be going forward early. Racing consistently this campaign. Sure to be competitive and must include. OPACITY (5) Fought on well to win three runs back around here and always seems to find the line well. Could pose a threat and expected to go very close. LAURE ME IN (9) Second up. Dashed home into 2nd three runs back at Rosehill and suited by the weight drop. Quite a few boxes are ticked and looks value at generous odds. BETCHA FLYING (11) Managed to run 3rd last run at Canterbury and dropping weight today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Worth entertaining from a place and exotics perspective.

Race 2:
ENTHAAR (4) 2yo first starter for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace by Written Tycoon. Strong claims. TOTAL BABE (12) On debut for Adrian Bott & Gai Waterhouse 2yo by I Am Invincible. Definite contender. VACCINE (13) Adrian Bott & Gai Waterhouse trained 2yo by Not A Single Doubt having first race appearance. Looking to each way betting at the price. AUTHENTIC JEWEL (1) Having first start for Chris Waller 2yo by I Am Invincible. Can’t back with any confidence.

Race 3:
KALASHNIKOV (6) On debut for Peter Snowden & Paul Snowden 2yo by Capitalist. Expected to be competitive. CONSTRUCT (4) Peter Snowden & Paul Snowden trained 2yo by I Am Invincible having first race start and drawn nicely. Worth a serious look. SHAQUERO (12) Chris Waller 2yo runner on debut by Shalaa. Will not be far away. RETRIEVAL (11) Medaglia D’oro 2yo trained by James Cummings having first race appearance. Can’t leave out of your calculations.

Race 4:
VERRY ELLEEGANT (11) Fought on gamely when winning two runs back at this course and possesses good finishing speed. Worth an investment. FIERCE IMPACT (1) Fought on well to win last run at Flemington and displays very good finishing speed. Should be in the finish. KOLDING (2) Game effort to win last time at the track and drops back to a suitable class. Should be very competitive and is a genuine threat. AVILIUS (3) Proven record when third up with 3 wins from 6 starts. Made considerable ground when 3rd three runs back at Rosehill and looks well graded. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Worth consideration.

Race 5:
DAME GISELLE (1) Got the upper hand late when winning last start here and drawn beautifully. Flying this preparation with 3 wins from 3 starts. Sure to be competitive and must include. HUNGRY HEART (2) Put in a competitive run when placing 2nd last run at the track and having third run back from a break. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. Take beating. MONTEFILIA (4) Bold effort to win two runs back at Rosehill but facing a stronger grade today. Looks a good chance of finishing in the money. JOVIALITY (5) Solid effort when winning last time at Warwick Farm but rising in class. Place wouldn’t shock.

Race 6:
NATURE STRIP (1) Did a good job when winning two runs back at the track and expecting to settle positively. Looks the one. CLASSIQUE LEGEND (2) Having second run back from a spell. Showed promise when winning last run around here and will be trying to topple them late. Looks a strong bet for punters. STANDOUT (4) Second up from a break. Bold effort when 5th last start at this track. No surprise to see a win. LIBERTINI (8) Fresh from a spell. Ran on strongly when 3rd three runs back at Flemington but goes up in weight today. One for the trifectas and first fours in this race.

Race 7:
STAR OF THE SEAS (3) Nice show placing 2nd last time here and displays good finishing speed. Winning chance in this line up. PROBABEEL (11) Strong form third up winning 2 from 3 starts. Solid effort when winning last run at the track and gets a reduction in weight. Has to be included. ROCK (13) Third up from a break. Dominant winner last time at Newcastle and gets some weight taken off today. Betting is the best guide and has each way claims. FUNSTAR (12) Snuck in a place when 2nd last start at Rosehill but prefers to settle towards the tail. Minor claims.

Race 8:
MUGATOO (2) Handy enough when winning last start at Newcastle but facing a stronger grade today. Should just about get the run of the race. Flying this preparation with 3 wins from 3 runs. Winning claims. SHARED AMBITION (7) Charged home into 2nd last run at this venue. Shows good closing speed. Can make a claim. BRIMHAM ROCKS (8) Good win three runs back at Eagle Farm and third up from a break. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Can figure in the finish. HUSH WRITER (9) Having third run back from a spell. Worked hard to finish 2nd last run at Newcastle and gets a reduction in weight. Good prospect for the exotics at least.

Race 9:
HILO (4) Kept finding the line when 2nd last start at Rosehill and second up from a spell. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Major player. ATHIRI (6) Solid win last time around here but rises in weight today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Sure to be thereabouts again. BURNING CROWN (8) Brave effort to win two runs back at Scone and won’t be far away during the run. One of the chances. ASHARANI (5) Forgive the run when 14th at Rosehill. Expecting improvement today and shows very good closing speed. Could sneak a place.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
A 3 metre rail for the first of four consecutive Saturdays at Randwick. This was once Sydney’s biggest spring meeting but times have changed. Regardless, it is always a meeting get excited about and excited we certainly are. Conditions were rated Good 4 on Wednesday morning and should remain so. We begin with a BM88 over the mile. DISCHARGED finds the front easily enough and has controlled his latest two. I thought BETCHA FLYING could try to be handy from out wide. Gets a 5 kilo swing against DISCHARGED from 12/9 and was solid in a much-better-than-average midweek event last time. OPACITY looks poised to peak 3rd-up and has a weight swing vs DISCHARGED as well. PANCHO has a victory over Russian Camelot but what has he done for us lately.
Selections: 2. Discharged (top tip), 5. Opacity, 11. Betcha Flying, 4. Matowi

Race 2:
The first of the Sydney babies step out here and this field includes a filly that was a standout at the trials. ENTHAAR recorded fastest time in the September 21 session and looks much more forward than you could expect an early girl to be. Perhaps a touch of class about her as well. She’ll have to be favourite here I would think and perhaps quite short? TOTAL BABE was rock-solid on the same morning and she draws to see every chance. Number 13 isn’t exactly the sort of VACCINE the world has been waiting for but the cleverly named filly will win her share her races. Awkwardly drawn here though.
Selections: 4. Enthaar (top tip), 12. Total Babe, 1. Authentic Jewel, 13. Vaccine

Race 3:
Here are the male 2YOs having their first go. For mine I thought the Snowdens had a grip on the race with three worthy entrants. KALASHNIKOV draws deep but jumped away most professionally in his 21/9 hitout. Cruised on to win by 5L and looked very impressive. CONSTRUCT drew widest in his hitout and settled a clear last. You had to like the strength of his running on and he gets a low draw here to work from. Stablemate ASTROLOGER is the only one drawn underneath him in fact and I would think he could use that draw to be prominent. SHAQUERO was rock-solid at the end of his trial as well and looks to have many races to win.
Selections: 6. Kalashnikov (top tip), 4. Construct, 2. Astrologer, 12. Shaquero

Race 4:
A few of these have accepted for other assignments so I’m predicting the field will be reduced. Waller duo VERRY ELLEEGANT and FINCHE are in the Turnbull in Melbourne and stablemate KOLDING is topweight for the Epsom (and JUST THINKIN’ first emergency). So….let’s expect change and possibly a field much reduced. I’m sure Chris will make a call pretty early with the plans, probably Wednesday (but after this preview deadline). With field intact, I would expect 10 could lead 1, 2 and 4. I am taken with FINCHE. He’s on his way to a third Melbourne Cup I’m sure but he has never run poorly in Australia and won well 2nd-up last prep over 2000m.
Selections: 4. Finche (value bet – SCRATCHED), 1. Fierce Impact, 11. Verry Elleegant (SCRATCHED), 2. Kolding

Race 5:
VANGELIC to lead out again. Is it wild speculation on my part that HUNGRY HEART could perhaps try to cross with her and sit close-up today? At a mile, I don’t think it would be a bad plan but maybe it brings her out of her comfort zone early in the race. Still, she should be trying for 1-1 at worst I think. Clearly there’s not much between HEART and DAME so we’ll see where the odds sit. Winners keep winning…….often but not always. All of them are first time to the mile but MONTEFILIA has gone closest and I think has been wanting this distance more than any other. That brings her well into play.
Selections: 2. Hungry Heart (top tip), 1. Dame Giselle, 4. Montefilia, 3. Vangelic

Race 6:
NATURE STRIP was off the speed in that latest trial of his but that was just a stranglehold run around and he will be back to his old self here, leading out for sure. I don’t see anything pestering him in the run (possibly FASIKA to cross up closest) and from there he should be in control and kicking on strong. A reminder though that NATURE STRIP started $21 in last year’s Everest and that was coming off a G1 win. (That little doubt of him running a strong 1200m was still a well held theory at that stage.) CLASSIQUE LEGEND finished 1.2L behind him in the Everest but was unlucky not to beat him home. He was awesome fresh and might be able to run NATURE down here. Which would make him fave for the big race in a fortnight.
Selections: 2. Classique Legend (top tip), 1. Nature Strip, 4. Standout, 7. Fasika

Race 7:
RIODINI has been strongly backed in both runs out here and while this is a deeper pool he dives into he can be our leader. KOLDING to cross up from way out there?? 6 box-seats, 3 two pairs back on the fence? And gun run for 9. I’m not sure you would say STAR OF THE SEAS is blessed with the inside draw (I would much prefer he drew midfield) but he could settle in a handier spot and if he sees clear he will be hard to hold out. PROBABEEL and KOLDING draw deep but that is not necessarily a problem for either (even if KOLDING goes back a little). Including WILD PLANET high up as he sees such a pretty run here.
Selections: 3. Star Of The Seas (top tip), 11. Probabeel, 1. Kolding (SCRATCHED), 9. Wild Planet

Race 8:
Pace from 9 and 4. 20 handy if she gets a run and 10 could be sitting nicely not too far away. MUGATOO was emphatic at Newcastle and comes into this having had a perfect prep. 57 he has to carry but I fancy we have enough evidence to say he is worthy of it. It’s easy to see him trailing similarly to last start as well, nicely at midfield and unimpeded. SHARED AMBITION draws to get well back again. Has a winning hope but it won’t be an easy job to complete from back near last. BRIMHAM ROCKS might be able to slot over for a marginally friendlier run and there wasn’t a lot between them last time. HUSH WRITER must be factored in as well, with a last start 2nd to the fave.
Selections: 2. Mugatoo (Best of the Day), 8. Brimham Rocks, 9. Hush Writer, 7. Shared Ambition (SCRATCHED)

Race 9:
7 could lead 8, 9 and 1 in the last. HILO (winkers first time) has the right sort of quality about him to sit back and launch here. Split Fituese and Masked Crusader first-up and even though one of those has failed badly since I still have some faith it is the right form for this. Stablemate ATHIRI was stunning last start. She has been a worthy contestant in stakes races as a filly and that last start you could really see it. STELLAR PAULINE (winkers again) drops away from fillies features herself and this could be more her style for now. HANDLE THE TRUTH has bigger fish to fry in a fortnight (so might BURNING CROWN??) but will make his presence felt.
Selections: 4. Hilo (top tip), 6. Athiri, 10. Stellar Pauline, 1. Handle The Truth
