Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
AYSAR (3) Fought on gamely when winning three runs back at Sandown and going down in class. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Looks the one. ENDANGER (2) Third up today. Game effort to win last run at Caulfield but facing a stronger class. Can have an impact. CROSSHAVEN (1) Good win two runs back at Caulfield and should race on the speed. Racing consistently since returning from a break. Deserves consideration. EMBOLISM (4) Shot away to win last start at Caulfield but up in grade. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Strong form this campaign winning 2 from 3 attempts. Will be there at the finish.

Race 2:
PERSONAL (1) Came on strongly to finish 2nd last run at Caulfield. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Has been a model of consistency since returning from a break. Can go on with it. VICTORIA QUAY (9) Winner two runs back at Balaklava but up against stronger competition today. Possesses good finishing speed. Include in all exotics. AGREEABLE (4) Strong effort when 5th last time at Caulfield and gets the perfect barrier. Displays good finishing speed. Winning chance in this line up. MIRAVALLE (8) Should bounce back from the last run when 6th at Randwick. Should bounce back and looks well graded. Always seems to find the line well. Capable of getting into the money.

Race 3:
OCTANE (9) Displayed potential when winning three runs back at the track and gets some weight taken off today. Has been a model of consistency since coming back from a break. Looks to be in good shape and must go close today. BANQUO (6) Let up. Flew home into 2nd two runs back at this course but hoping that the added weight won’t hurt. Expect to go close. KEMALPASA (4) Couldn’t maintain the momentum going throughout when 3rd last time at the track and looks well graded. Shows good early pace. Must respect in this event. BLAZEJOWSKI (5) First up specialist with 3 wins from 4 starts. Won narrowly last time at this track but rises in weight today. Should just about get the run of the race. Races well in these conditions so do not discard.

Race 4:
ASHRUN (1) Tidy effort when 2nd two runs back at Deauville and going well this preparation. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Looks a winning hope. SCHABAU (10) Good run placing 3rd two runs back at the track. Big chance. ADMIRE ROBSON (11) Jumped at $10 and finished 2.3l behind the winner around here last time on a good surface but third up. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Should take beating. SOUND (5) Kept finding the line when 2nd two runs back at this course and should race just behind the speed. Can threaten if right today.

Race 5:
ODEUM (12) Chimed in with a win last start in the Thousand Guineas and dropping weight today. Very tidy this preparation winning 3 from 4 starts. Is in good order and can run well. MYSTIC JOURNEY (1) Got the upper hand late when winning last start in the Stocks Stakes and suited at this trip historically. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Good chance and wouldn’t be surprised to see it pick up a win. MADAM ROUGE (3) Really dug deep when winning last time in the Tristarc Stakes. Should get going late. Stays under notice. CHAILLOT (11) Was fighting out the finish when winning two runs back in the Rokon Plate but might be ridden for luck. One of the hopes.

Race 6:
SEPTEMBER RUN (14) Nice effort when winning last time in the Poseidon Stakes but rising in grade. Going well this preparation. Can figure. FARNAN (1) Was first to greet the judge when winning two runs back in the Golden Slipper and should race on the speed. Can feature. WILD RULER (2) Displayed potential when winning last time in the Roman Consul Stakes and third up from a break. Going well this preparation winning 2 from as many attempts. Looks promising in this race. SWATS THAT (12) Winner last start in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes but up in class. Chance in this field so include in exotics.

Race 7:
YOUNG WERTHER (5) Handy enough when winning two runs back and now going up in distance. Can go on with it. CHERRY TORTONI (1) Got the upper hand late when winning last time in the Moonee Valley Vase and racing again inside a week. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Has run into the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. Could go well. ALBARADO (2) Game effort to win last start in the Caulfield Classic and can go through the gears. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. Can get the job done. LET’S KARAKA DEEL (4) Did a good job when winning three runs back and displays good tactical speed. Has run into the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. Include.

Race 8:
MR QUICKIE (2) Bold effort to win last start in the Toorak Handicap. Should be right in the finish. BUFFALO RIVER (13) Landed the spoils when winning three runs back and should come to hand quickly. Chance to break through and a could give a show. FIFTY STARS (1) Third up specialist with 4 wins from 5 attempts. Won narrowly three runs back in the Australian Cup but likely to get back in the run. Place wouldn’t shock. YULONG PRINCE (5) Third up. Charged home into 2nd two runs back in the Chelmsford Stakes. Meeting a good field and you can take on trust.

Race 9:
DIAMOND EFFORT (3) Really dug deep when winning three runs back at Caulfield and suited at this trip historically. Suited. FITUESE (8) Having third run back from a spell. Fought on gamely when winning two runs back at Rosehill and hard to fault at the distance. Better claims. CALIFORNIA ZIMBOL (4) Third up. Won narrowly last run at Caulfield and proven runner at this distance. Major hope. FIESTA (2) Scored a victory last run at Caulfield and third up from a break. Possesses very good finishing speed. Up to these.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
NOTE: Rail is true. Was 7m here October 3 when strong winds made it tough for on-pace runners and those facing the breeze in circle races. Straight races were fast (wind-assisted). SPEED: 1, 8 leads 4, 6? AYSAR can trail those from the good draw. He beat home CROSSHAVEN in G1 Caulfield Guineas and meets him 1.5kg better. Crosshaven was wide/no cover and ran very well though. Third in the Guineas was Grandslam and EMBOLISM ran well against him before a dominant win last time. SO LET’S TOAST may well have beaten ENDANGER with even luck at Caulfield. They look suited at 1600m.
Selections: 3. Aysar (top tip), 1. Crosshaven, 7. So Let’s Toast, 4. Embolism

Race 2:
No mad speed on paper. Maybe 14, 7 lead 6, 13? Trusting the Thousand Guineas form here. The race rated highly. PERSONAL was under pressure a way out but kept closing and the 2000m looks ideal now. AGREEABLE was alongside her mid-race but didn’t quicken (race ranking splits for final 3 x 200m tell the story: 10th/7th/1st) so yeah, she was race-fastest home. 2000m the big tick for her! The left-fielder is VICTORIA QUAY, who stormed home off a fast pace in Adelaide at just start three. Winner there was an early VRC Derby fave! SUCCEED INDEED and STARELLE live hopes.
Selections: 1. Personal (top tip), 4. Agreeable, 9. Victoria Quay, 3. Succeed Indeed

Race 3:
4, 6 look leaders. BANQUO was beaten narrowly in Bobbie Lewis this track/trip two back and had the measure of BOLD STAR there. Bold Star was then OK at WFA in Schillaci but OCTANE was better. Back to a handicap here is a big tick for Octane and he won his only straight-track run beating Rock Prophet, who was beaten 2.5L in that Bobbie Lewis. CORUSCATE is flying! TACTICAL ADVANTAGE has had plenty against him of late and won here last year. KEMALPASA won this last year beating ORDER OF COMMAND. They both jump up in weights this year. Wish RICH CHARM had drawn wider.
Selections: 6. Banquo (top tip), 9. Octane, 4. Kemalpasa, 2. Tactical Advantage

Race 4:
SPEED: 3 looks leader from 2, 8, 9 with 10 next? SOUND was luckless last week in the MV Cup. He did some work in the run here prior in the Bart Cummings yet still beat home SCHABAU (kept coming/good) and ADMIRE ROBSON (lost spot/good late). Admire Robson was only second up and perhaps has the most scope here but there’s little between them. ASHRUN chased Steel Prince in the Geelong Cup and that horse was third in that Bart Cummings. HUSH WRITER (drier the big tick), BRIMHAM ROCKS and ATTORNEY bring the Mugatoo form in. FUTURE SCORE is underrated.
Selections: 11. Admire Robson (top tip), 10. Schabau, 5. Sound, 7. Future Score

Race 5:
SPEED looks good: 6, 9, 13, 14 like to lead and they all draw gate 10 or wider! Thought ODEUM was a terrific winner of the Thousand Guineas chasing a hot speed and breaking clear. 3YO fillies have proved they can win this race over the journey! MYSTIC JOURNEY has been beaten once at 1600m (she ran second in a fast G1) and was beaten 4L in last year’s Cox Plate: she is the class! VANNA GIRL is in the game. She might finally see a fast-run race here. That will suit NETTOYER also. MISSILE MANTRA best roughie? Like FORBIDDEN LOVE as a filly but 1600m an unknown.
Selections: 12. Odeum (top tip), 1. Mystic Journey, 8. Missile Mantra, 5. Vanna Girl

Race 6:
Great race! SPEED: 1, 2, 7 mainly? FARNAN was the star 2YO last season and was trialling brilliantly before the first-up run in Sydney but went way too hard there and faded. He jumped out very well here with WILD RULER. This 3YO Wild Ruler is unbeaten this prep and easily held Danehill Stakes winner DOUBTLAND at Randwick. RANTING ran on well in that Danehill then beat ANDERS in a brutal 1200m contest at Caulfield. That may be “the making” of him? Little between fillies SEPTEMBER RUN, SWATS THAT and MUNTASEERA. Muntaseera is disadvantaged set-weights.
Selections: 2. Wild Ruler (top tip), 1. Farnan, 12. Swats That, 14. September Run

Race 7:
No natural leader: 4, 10, 11, 12 go forward? Even race this year and that was evidenced by the blanket finish to the Caulfield Classic won by ALBARADO. He made a long, wide run that day and was tough beating LET’S KARAKA DEEL, who fought hard. HIT THE SHOT was strongest late (race-fastest last 200m) with CETSHWAYO (lost spot/laid in/green) second-fastest. Suspect he is the best roughie ($21) out to 2500m/Flemington. YOUNG WERTHER beat Albarado despite limited luck but can he win a Derby at start three? CHERRY TORTONI won very well at MV last week with 7L to JOHNNY GET ANGRY.
Selections: 5. Young Werther (top tip), 1. Cherry Tortoni, 6. Hit The Shot, 2. Albarado

Race 8:
SPEED: 13, 12, 10. 8, 3 go forward too? FIFTY STARS was wide/good second up and he was beaten a lip in this last year with CASCADIAN a very good/close third. Getting to Flemington looks the key for Cascadian. MR QUICKIE was dominant in the Toorak Handicap with 59kg beating BUFFALO RIVER. AGE OF CHIVALRY was wide and ran very well there. REYKJAVIK was luckless and getting way down in the weights is the key to him: best roughie? ROCK was race-fastest home in an on-pace G1 Epsom, finishing with WILD PLANET, who then beat Fifty Stars. Stack of other hopes.
Selections: 9. Rock (top tip), 2. Mr Quickie, 17. Reykjavik, 1. Fifty Stars

Race 9:
SPEED: 6, 10 with 4 ,5? DIAMOND EFFORT was pipped by Dirty Work latest and luckless in Moir prior when should have finished alongside Trekking. That’s proper G1 form and she’s back against her own sex today. Her one go up straight she won well. CALIFORNIA ZIMBOL held off FITUESE at Caulfield and they beat PROPHET’S THUMB clearly, they meet same weight terms. California Zimbol looked lost up straight last spring when just no match for SISSTAR. She’ll be better for that and 3kg swing helps. EXHILARATES was a forgive run latest. Her Loving Gaby form says she can win this: overs? FIESTA goes in
Selections: 3. Diamond Effort (best of the day), 4. California Zimbol, 1. Exhilarates, 6. Sisstar

Race 8:
FUNSTAR (12) Put in a competitive run when placing 2nd last run at Randwick but rises in weight today. Going well this campaign. Capable of getting into the money. ALLIGATOR BLOOD (1) Third up today. Charged home into 2nd last time at Randwick but racing in stronger company today. Each way hope. COLETTE (13) Finished 2l from the winner at Randwick last time on a good track and carrying more weight than last time. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Has the ability to take this out. SIERRA SUE (16) Was fighting out the finish when winning last time at Flemington and third up from a spell. Ultra competitive this preparation with 2 wins from 2 runs. Place wouldn’t shock

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 8:
5 and 8 to lead from 9 and 12 trying her best to slot in. This is a waaaaay deeper pool that ICEBATH dives into this week but it does appear she is a swimmer (by Sacred Falls, who had any doubt?) and she should trail up to have her chance. I know, I know, off a win at BM78 level but she does come through the Silver Eagle as well and was far from disgraced there. So at odds, on the quick backup on similar ground, I’ll be with her each-way. FUNSTAR through the Epsom and it was the right lead-up race last year. COLETTE was solid there too and is 2 from 2 on Heavy. I won’t be losing if she wins. FLIT has a liking for wet just how far back does she get here? So then……mares it is.
Selections: 18. Icebath (value bet), 12. Funstar, 11. Flit, 13. Colette.
