Newcastle Jets

ADL Last 5 Games- W2 & L3

NEW Last 5 Games- W2, D2 & L1

Previous History- ADL have won 5 of the previous 8 contested clashes between these two sides. NEW won last time however, 3-0.

Adelaide’s last match saw them score in the 2nd min through Goodwin upon his return to the Reds, the 44th min through Mauk in what was his 100th A-League match and then again in the 82nd min with the late winner though Toure, beating WSW 3-2. They are now just 4 points of 2nd place, in what was their 4th win of the season. Will they be able to use the creativity and speed from the likes of Goodwin and Toure to burn Newcastle? If they are to claim all 3 points, then those 2 men should be a big part of it.

Newcastle suffered their 1st loss during their more recent resurgent period as they went down 2-1 to Wellington. They leaked goals in the 22nd and 53rd mins of the match. Having only shot 4/18 on target in that one, will they be able to better capitalize on their chances against the Reds? It doesn’t look like they’ll have much choice with them being both a point behind and having played 4 more games then the 6th placed Glory. Both O’Donovan and Yuel have to do a lot better in this one to help the Jets out attacking-wise.

Betting tips: Pick both teams to score at least once each at $1.58 (UniBet)

Also pick the Reds to score last at $2.10 (bet365)

BRI Last 5 Games- W1, D2 & L2

SYD Last 5 Games- W2, D1 & L2

Previous History- SYD have won 7 of the last 13 games played between these two rivals. The last match resulted in a 0-0 draw.

Brisbane may have gone down 3-0 to the Glory, but they still sit comfortably in 2nd place on the ladder. And when you look at players such as Wenzel-Halls (5 goals and 2 assists this season), McDonald (3 goals and 2 assists this season) and Danzaki (3 goals and 1 assist this season), they’re more likely to bounce back in this one then not. Especially so that they’re playing at home. So, if Wenzel-Halls catches fire here, will the Sky Blues be able to put him out? Brisbane are challenging this season and Sydney will have to painfully see that ….. again.

Barbarouses misfired. Wood and Nieuwenhof weren’t good enough. Retre got himself sent of for a stupid challenge. All of these players and more need to asses themselves after Sydney lost yet another match, this time 1-0 at home to the Bulls. They are now 8th on the ladder and only 4 points off the bottom spot. They simply need to do better in this one. If Bobo gets the start, could he give Sydney the lethal attacking edge they need? The Brazilian has been very good over his past 2 games. For Sydney’s sake, let’s hope something changes in this one.

Betting tips: Pick Sydney to score last at $2.10 (bet365)

And pick there to be at least one goal in each half at $1.60 (UniBet)

Melbourne City

VIC Last 5 Games- W1 & L4

CIY Last 5 Games- W2 & L3

Previous History- 3 Of the last 5 Derbies have been draws. They have been 0-0, 1-1 and 1-1. Last time they played however, it was a 2-1 win to CIY.

They scored first in the 21st minute against W.U. via McManaman. They also scored two after that through Butterfield and Gestede (62nd and 82nd mins). But they lost with the final kick f the game as Sanchez scored in the 95th min to make it 4-3. The victory dropped the ball massively in this one, there’s no doubt about it. It’s especially sad considering they were coming off a commanding win over the Nix. Will Gestede do what he has to do and help lead his team to victory? Or will they choke again? Let’s hope that in their 2nd Derby in 2 weeks they can do at least a tad better.

City were facing a lot of pressure headed into their GF rematch against Sydney at AAMI Park. But in the most City way how, they answered all the critics in a 3-2 win. A game in which they led 3-0 at one stage. Their goals were produced through Maclaren X2 (8th and 53rd mins) and Luna (28th min). They also shot a very impressive 8/20, with a shot hitting the woodwork as well. Can they continue their revival against the Victory? Or will they let the other side of Melbourne beat them to gain some of their previous Wellington-game form back? Regardless, we’re in for both an interesting and physical affair here.

Betting tips: Pick City to win here at $2.20 (BlueBet)

And pick the 2nd half to be the highest scoring one at $1.95 (bet365)

Perth Glory

WEL Last 5 Games- W1, D1 & L3

PER Last 5 Games- W3 & L2

Previous History- PER have won 4 of the last 6 Distance Derbies. Last time they beat WEL 1-0.

The Phoenix are coming off the back of a 2-0 win over Newcastle. And Perth, are coming into this one on the back of a 3-1 win over Brisbane. Both sides are displaying some strong confidence at the moment and as well as that both sides form is pretty on-point. The big question to come from this one is, can Davila over-match the electric combination of Castro and Fornaroli? The ex-Chelsea man has 3 goals and 25 shot assists this season. But as we saw in the Glory’s 2-goal win, those 2 can win a game off their own back. This battle will heavily define the outcome of the game and will be very, very interesting to tune into.

Betting tips: Pick the Glory to win at $2.70 (Bet365)

Also pick Perth to score first at $2.05 (Bet365)

W.U. Last 5 Games- W3, D1 & L1

WSW Last 5 Games- W3, D1 & L1

Previous History- W.U. have won 2 of the overall 3 games contested between these teams. Last time they were victorious 5-3.

When W.U. last played and beat WSW 5-3, some of their goal-scorers that day were Diamanti with 2 and Berisha with 1. In their latest W over the Victory, Diamanti provided 2 assists. With the former Watford man laying out some beautiful dishes. While Berisha produced a magical 5-minute period, as from the 53rd-58th mins he scored twice. And he recently moved into outright 2nd on the all-time goal-scorers list in Australian Footballing history. The Wanderers on the other hand are coming into this clash on the back of a 3-2 loss to Adelaide. They had 26 shots in that one but couldn’t even get a point. It’s safe to say who the winner should be here and why!

Betting tips: Pick the Victorian-based side to win at $2.48 (UniBet)

And pick each team to score in the 2nd half at $2.88 (UniBet)

Macarthur FC

CCM Last 5 Games- W3 & L2

MAC Last 5 Games- W3, D1 & L1

Previous History- The only time they’ve met was when CCM won 2-0. They scored goals via De Silva (35th min) and Smylie (89th min).

The Mariners were duped by the refs last time out at Adelaide. They gave away 3X controversial penalties, which as you would expect, the Reds were able to win the game off. So it will be interesting to see her how cautious the officials may be given the Central Coast are involved.

Retre was sent off against Macarhur last weekend as well, so it all adds to the potential chaos for this one.

And last game, the Mariners won 2-0 against the Nix, with goals coming courtesy of Simon in the 40th min and then via Bozanic 10 mins later. It should be close here. But ultimately I think you can pick the Mariners for the win.

Betting tips: Pick the CCM to be victorious at odds of $1.30 or more when they become available.

Also pick them to score first at odds of $1.20 or more when they become available.

SYD Last 5 Games- W2, D1 & L2

W.U. Last 5 Games- W3, D1 & L1

Previous History- 2 Games have been played between SYD and W.U., the ledger is currently split at 1-1. Last time W.U. won 2-1.

Last week I defended Corica’s position at Sydney. But man! Isn’t he on the hot seat at the moment! If the Sky Blues lose against Brisbane, then again here, surely his position is in jeopardy? He should have taken off Barbarouses significantly earlier for Bobo against the Bulls, whilst he made several other questionable selections as well. As many people have pointed out, he inherited Arnold’s team and hasn’t done much different with it to that of what he himself (Arnold) did. While W.U. have the capabilities to terrorize Sydney here. From just 7 games, they’ve scored 4 or more in 3 of them this season, 4 X 2 and 5 X 1. If Sydney don’t look out and Corica isn’t prepared, a fair beating could well be on the cards here. And does that potentially leave a sacking of a club legend on the cards here as well?

Betting tips: Pick each side to score at least one goal at odds of $1.40 or more when they become available.

Also pick Berisha to score at anytime at odds of $2.00 or more when they become available.

Best Bets of the Round

Pick Perth to score last vs the Nix at $2.05 (bet365)

And also pick the result of the Western United vs WSW clash to be Western United/Western United at $4.00 (BlueBet, Bet365, UniBet)
