Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 6:
BALLISTIC BOY (1) Fought on gamely when winning three runs back at Sunshine Coast. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Been in the money 5 from 7 attempts this campaign. Deserves a win. SUPERGIANT (3) Fought on well to win last start at this venue and expecting to settle positively. Tracking very well this campaign. Live winning chance. NAVY CROSS (4) Really dug deep when winning last start at Sunshine Coast and should race on the speed. Very competitive this preparation. Worth a ticket. MARAKOPA (11) Handy enough when winning last run at Sunshine Coast but facing a stronger grade today. Racing consistently this campaign. Underrated.

Race 7:
ROTHFIRE (1) Having second run back from a spell. Won last time here and should muster plenty of early toe. Big claims. WISDOM OF WATER (3) Landed the spoils when winning last start at Gold Coast and having third run back from a break. Flying this campaign with 2 wins from as many starts. Big danger. MACROURA (14) Handy enough when winning last run at Rosehill and expecting to settle positively. Flawless this campaign with 3 wins from 3 starts. Genuine winning chance. ISOTOPE (17) Displayed potential when winning two runs back at Sunshine Coast but up against stronger competition today. Shows good early pace. Very strong each way claims.

Race 8:
DAWN PASSAGE (16) Winner last time at Doomben and going well this campaign. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Respect against this field. TREKKING (1) Game effort to win last time at Morphettville. Not without claims. VICTOREM (5) Races well third up winning 2 from 4 starts. Showed promise when winning last time at this course and gets some weight taken off today. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Has each way claims. EXHILARATES (18) Flew home into 2nd last time at Doomben and shows good finishing speed. Capable of better.

Race 9:
AQUITAINE (7) Second up from a break. Finished 2nd last run at Rosehill. Will go well. NIEDORP (5) Bold effort to win two runs back at Doomben and should race on the speed. Going well this campaign. Top prospects against this opposition. BETTER REFLECTION (6) Goes well first up with 3 wins from 3 attempts. Brave effort to win two runs back at Sunshine Coast and displays very good closing speed. Could work into the placings. SUGAR BOOM (8) Couldn’t keep the momentum throughout when 3rd last time at Sunshine Coast and won’t be far away during the run. Underrated.

Race 6:
Probably the worst edition of the Rough Habit in the history of the race. BALLISTIC BOY and SUPERGIANT fought out the Gunsynd which will be the best formline here. SUPERGIANT run them along and still beat them last time. He’s a genuine stayer and the step in trip should only help. BALLISTIC BOY just run out of ground there, Stewart stays on top and this looks the ideal race. NAVY CROSS has the Waterhouse factor and will stay the trip which is a positive. SMART METEOR will get a sweet run and has ability. Another who will see the trip out so goes in trifecta’s. MISHANI SECRET might be next best for those looking for some value in exotics.
Selections: 1. Ballistic Bo, 3. Supergiant, 15. Mishani Secret, 4. Navy Cross

Race 7:
There is a huge query on a handful of horses in the market running the trip out. I’m sure if we had a normal carnival set up they wouldn’t be running here. A couple at big odds I feel will run it out are OVERLORD and NOT AN OPTION but they will needs good rides. OVERLORD has been racing Peltzer in Sydney, that’s very good form. Two runs back he had some of the best late splits of the meeting. Still solid although well beaten on a heavy track last start. If Thornton can find cover I expect him to launch late at $18. NOT AN OPTION has had a freshen and comes here with blinkers first time and Cahill to ride. Needs to land in front of a few from the gate. MACROURA looks highly talented. 1100m to 1400m is a query so watch the market. ROTHFIRE, WISDOM OF WATER, THE DRINKS CART and ISOTOPE all leading hopes but queries as to which of them will run it out. THUNDER MANIA is a horse jumping in grade but he gets the right run, will be strong at the end and has a turn of foot.
Selections: 11. Overlord, 14. Macroura, 3. Wisdom Of Water, 4. Not An Option

Race 8:
You won’t find a more open Straddy. TREKKING is the class runner who is in form but he has a good horses weight and the record of horses with 58kg isn’t good. VICTOREM won the lead up, he draws to get better runs than most of those he beat so he has to be a leading chance again. NICCANOVA and TYZONE were outstanding last start but both have draw wide, they map ordinary on paper so need good rides to find cover. DAWN PASSAGE draws the outside, likely to try and follow DEEP IMAGE across so may land outside leader and then it’s a matter of not pulling the trigger too early. VEGA ONE was right on track for this before an ordinary run last start, can bounce back.
Selections: 5. Victorem, 3. Niccanova, 16. Dawn Passage, 6. Tyzone

Race 9:
Gollan runners to dictate the pace. SUGAR BOOM is one of the best barrier horses we have and she will burn across to lead. She also has ability and likely to steal a length or two on the corner and be hard to run down. Stablemate HOWWONDERFILLIFEIS will follow it across and sit outside leader. NIEDORP lands on their backs and gets the suck run throughout. She will slipstream as long as possible and have last crack at the leader. AQUITAINE brings the Sydney form which is hard to line up but she does look a handy horse who will be strong late. SUKWHINDER is underrated and gets blinkers on. She just can’t draw a gate and will need a good steer from out there.
Selections: 5. Niedorp, 8. Sugar Boom, 7. Aquitaine, 6. Better Reflection

Race 6:
Last start winner Supergiant & the Sydney visitor Navy Cross should just about set the tempo in the Rough Habit, Traduce & Man Of Sinn have led at previous recent runs & may also push on? Not a great gate for BALLISTIC BOY however Brad Stewart has a knack of slotting them in & even if he doesn’t here the big long straight & additional 200m is going to work in his favour should he have to drift right back. SUPERGIANT beat him last time & full credit to him as he ran along at a strong speed in front, only start number 6 for him here so plenty of improvement still to come. No knock NAVY CROSS.
Selections: 1. Ballistic Boy (top tip), 3. Supergiant, 4. Navy Cross, 2. Smart Meteor

Race 7:
Back 200m in distance this year the Atkins has drawn a cracking bunch of youngsters. Will Rothfire clear them early, will he take a sit? On the map he has nos.14, 3, 18, 17 drawn inside & no.2 drawn to his outside as his early competition. Reckon I’ll be on my own here tipping TICK TOCK BOOM who is big odds as I type, caught my eye charging home from the back in the Ken Russell before toying with rivals at the Sunny Coast, will run the trip right out! ROTHFIRE the yardstick, handles this track & is untapped, who says he won’t run 1400m? Similar ISOTOPE who I thought chased home well latest.
Selections: 10. Tick Tock Boom (top tip), 1. Rothfire, 17. Isotope, 3. Wisdom Of Water

Race 8:
Queensland’s greatest race is the Group 1 Stradbroke. Fair to say the barrier draw has turned this years upside down with many of the favoured hopes drawn the carpark! Map says 9, 11, 15 & 16 the main pace, I’m expecting a few more to go forward also though. TYZONE is the horse who looks primed (bar the gate), his closing sectionals his last couple excellent & he races well here (2nd last year), how much start he gives away is my concern. DAWN PASSAGE flying, just might get over on the map. VEGA ONE might find cover & he must be forgiven his latest. NICCANOVA will be storming at them late.
Selections: 6. Tyzone (top tip), 16. Dawn Passage, 8. Vega One, 3. Niccanova

Race 9:
Pace in the closer from the speedy Sugar Boom & stablemate Niedorp, include 15 (em), 9 & 10, interestingly nos.14,15 & 17 draw in & are all emergencies, should they not run Niedorp is a ‘moral’ to find the fence if that ground is ok & either lead or trail? Sydney visitor AQUITAINE has some big numbers down south, beaten by a horse in form latest & drawn to park handily in the run, hard to beat. Big watch on BETTER REFLECTION, very talented & unbeaten first up. NIEDORP back to 1000m with the likely good run will give a sight, game latest giving all up to 1200m however this is more her go.
Selections: 7. Aquitaine (top tip), 6. Better Reflection, 5. Niedorp, 16. Dynamic Verse

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 7:
CLASSIQUE LEGEND (1) Resumes from a spell. Good run when placing 3rd three runs back at this track but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Worth an investment. ADELONG (13) Got the upper hand late when winning last run at Rosehill and displays good tactical speed. Solid claims. JUNGLE EDGE (2) Was first to greet the judge when winning two runs back at Morphettville but will have to carry more weight. Has plenty of early speed. Has the ability to take this out. SNITZ (6) Really dug deep when winning last start around here and shows good early pace. Very tidy this preparation winning 2 from as many starts. Strong chance.

Race 7:
The highlight of the day is a very fetching off-season sprint over the 1100m. 6 and 13 the pacemakers. 8 and 2 next in line. CLASSIQUE LEGEND draws widest but I’m not too fazed by that. This should be a pretty genuine tempo and he has all sorts of quality about him. His one run on Heavy was a very game defeat and he also won a recent trial comfortably on wet. Should clearly have finished top four in the Everest but had his momentum slowed for a large part of the straight. That’s quality form and he will call on his quality here. ADELONG the filly in form. She’s up and going and sure to give a sight.
