Chiefs vs. Highlanders |
Same-game multi: Chiefs to win and under 66.5 points at 1.50 (bet365)
The Chiefs have won eight in a row against the Highlanders and the hosts bring a six-game winning streak into this clash. The Highlanders have gone 0-5 as the away underdog over the last twelve months and they failed to cover the line in their last three games. The winning margin stats are mixed. Five of the Chiefs’ six home wins over the last twelve months were by 13+, however seven of the Highlanders’ eight defeats over the same period were by 1-12. The Highlanders’ last visit to Hamilton saw them thrashed by a 36-point margin, however the they only lost by a 3-point margin to the Chiefs at home earlier this season. My lean is towards a lower scoring game. Six of the Highlanders’ seven away games over the last twelve months went under the bookmaker total. The Chiefs’ last three games went under the total and their last four home clashes against the Highlanders went under. Looking back further, 9 of the last 12 meetings between the two in Hamilton went under the total.
Fijian Drua vs. Waratahs |
Same-game multi: Waratahs +21.5 and Over 40.5 at 1.50 (bet365)
The Fijian Drua’s home games are spreads across three venues and this fixture will be played at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This is good news for the Waratahs. Their previous two visits (defeats by 3 and 14 points) were in the much tougher conditions of Lautoka, where the Drua boast a 13-4 record. The Drua’s 4-5 record in Suva isn’t as formidable due to the wet weather, which helps counter the high humidity. Looking at the Suva weather forecast for Saturday, we can expect overcast conditions, passing showers and a feels like temperature of 26 °C. Fixtures in Suva are higher scoring than those in Lautoka and Ba. Looking at the stats for Australian visitors to Suva, the Brumbies’ game saw 68 total points, the Rebels’ visit saw 66 points and the Reds’ three games averaged 58 total points.
Blues vs. Hurricanes |
Hurricanes in the head-to-head at 1.53 (bet365)
The Blues have won five consecutive home games, however they have gone 2-5 as the underdog over the last twelve months and in recent years they have gone 1-5 as the home underdog against the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes have gone 10-1 in the head-to-head and 8-3 at the line as the bookmaker’s favourite over the last twelve months. The Blues won this fixture last season, however it was by a 1-point margin and the Hurricanes are in sublime form at the moment. The Hurricanes covered the line in their last three fixtures against the Blues and the Blues failed to cover the line in their last two home games. Given the Blues haven’t lost by 13+ at home over the last twelve months, those looking for more risk should consider the Hurricanes 1-12 at 3.10 (bet365).
Force vs. Reds |
Force +6.5 at 1.52 (bet365)
The Force suffered a disappointing 17-point defeat to the Brumbies in Canberra last week, but prior to that they had covered the line in eight consecutive games. The Force defeated the Reds 42-19 at Suncorp Stadium in April. The Reds failed to cover the line in their last two visits to Perth and they bring a 2-5 away record into this game.
