Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide vs. Carlton

Carlton

Both sides bring LLWWL form into this game, but I will side against the visitors. Carlton remain without star forward Harry McKay and important midfielder Sam Walsh for at least another month. Their other key forward Charlie Curnow did pass a late fitness test to play last week, however he failed to kick a goal in their shock defeat to North Melbourne. Carlton have gone 1-4, both in the head-to-head and the line, as the away underdog over the last twelve months, while Port Adelaide have gone 6-3 as the home favourite. In their head-to-heads, Port Adelaide have won four of the last six as the home favourite against Carlton. The Power’s last five wins were by 1-39 margins, while seven of Carlton’s eight away defeats over the last twelve months were by 1-39 margins. Narrowing it down further, six of Carlton’s last eight away defeats were by 1-24 margins. I would back Port Adelaide in the head-to-head at 1.72 (bet365). Those looking for more risk should consider Port Adelaide 1-39 at 2.35 (Dabble) or Port Adelaide 1-24 at 3.30 (Dabble).

Port Adelaide have averaged 172 total game points at Adelaide Oval this season, but their offence has failed to fire consistently of late. They now take on the under-strength Carlton, for whom six of their seven away games this season went under the bookmaker’s total. Carlton’s average total score away from home this season is just 151.6, which is the lowest in the league. I would back Under 173.5 at 1.50 (bet365).

One SGM candidate is Port Adelaide 1-39 & Under 180 at 2.90 (bet365).

Sydney

Sydney vs. Western Bulldogs

Western Bulldogs

Both sides bring WLWLLWW form into this game. Sydney have averaged 162.3 total points at the SCG this season, with no game going over 172. This has seen five of their six home fixtures go under the bookmaker’s total. The Swans’ profligacy in front of goal has been a trend this season. Six of their last seven games saw them kick more behinds than goals. Seven of the last eight games between Sydney and the Western Bulldogs at the SCG went under the total. Their meeting in Sydney last season saw just 135 points scored and their last Sydney meeting before that saw 154 points. I would back Under 182.5 at 1.50 (bet365).

Hawthorn

Hawthorn vs. North Melbourne

North Melbourne

This game is being played at UTAS Stadium, where Hawthorn have won eight in a row (7-1 at the line). North Melbourne’s last two visits to this venue saw them lose and fail to cover the line. Over the last twelve months, the Hawks have gone 9-1 in the head-to-head and 7-3 at the line as the listed home side. Over the same period, the Kangaroos have gone 1-8 as the away underdog. Hawthorn come into this game having won six in a row against North Melbourne. The Hawks covered the line in all six of those wins. Hawthorn won this fixture at this venue by a 170-46 scoreline last season. North Melbourne have avoided defeat by 40+ in seven of their last eight games, so I’m on the fence regarding the 1-39 vs. 40+ selection. For this reason I will just stick with the head-to-head market. I would back Hawthorn in the head-to-head at 1.17 (Dabble).
