Bookmaker Margin
The bookmaker margin (overround) is a measure of the bookmaker’s profit margin for an event and is a hidden transaction cost for punters. This profit is how bookmakers finance their services but bookmakers vary in the margins they apply. From a punter’s perspective, the lower the margin, the better. Learn more about bookmaker margins.
BetEstate was not included in our most recent bookmaker margins and markets survey.
Our first impression is that BetEstate’s odds for Australian sports are very competitive. In a benchmark test against the bookmaker with the best sports odds in our latest margins survey, BetEstate offered the joint best or best available head-to-head odds for:
– 2 teams out of 2 NRL post-season games
– 1 team out of 1 AFL post-season game
– 11 outcomes (home, draw, away) out of 10 EPL games
– 15 teams out of 15 NFL games
This makes BetEstate a superb option for those who like to shop around for the best odds.
The line and total market even odds are both 1.90 for the popular sporting codes. From the head-to-head markets we surveyed, their margins were only a fraction above the best performer in our latest margins survey. This makes BetEstate a perfectly good option for those who are looking for just one membership.
Sports Markets
In September 2025, we observed markets for American Football (NFL, CFL, NCAA Div 1), Australian rules (AFL, AFL Women), baseball (MLB & Japan), basketball (5 leagues, but not the NBL), boxing, cricket, darts, football (50+ leagues & competitions), golf, ice hockey (NHL preseason), motor sport (F1, NASCAR), rugby league (NRL, NRL Women & Super League), rugby union (4 competitions), snooker, tennis (ATP, WTA, Laver Cup). A strong depth of leagues are offered, but the most obscure leagues (ITF tennis, lower tier Scottish football leagues, etc.) are not. It was strange to see that the NBL wasn’t covered at the time of writing.
A strong range of markets is offered per fixture. For example, we observed 48 markets for an upcoming NRL game and too many markets to count for upcoming AFL, MLB and NFL games. Even for less popular events we observed a broad range of markets. For an upcoming ATP 250 tennis match we observed 9 markets (most small bookmakers offer just one) and for an NRL Women’s game we observed 39 markets.
Same-game multi (SGM) betting is supported for the a broad range of events. In September 2025, SGMs were on offer for the NFL, NCAAF, AFL, AFL Women, MLB, most football leagues, NRL, NRL Women and tennis (ATP 500 event).
Futures markets are not broadly available. We observed a futures market for the Green Bay Packers to win the Super Bowl, but that was it.
In-Play Betting
In-play phone betting is not available at the time of review.
Betting Interface
BetEstate employs the BetMakers betting platform. The website employs a responsive design that tailors the layout to suit the screen size of your device. This review will focus on the three-column layout that is displayed on laptops and PCs.
The website uses the ubiquitous layout with navigation on the left, markets and odds in the centre and the betting slip on the right.
The sports, racing and account categories are listed in an expandable format. Featured sports are listed in their own box. Upcoming races are displayed across the top of the page.
Breadcrumbs are provided at the top of the centre column, but no event search feature is available.
Overall, the navigation is beginner-friendly and easy to use.
When you select a sport, a list of fixtures is displayed along with the head-to-head odds.
A SGM icon is shown for games that support same-game multis. The number of markets available per game are not shown, which is a shame.
Selections that are already in your betting slip are highlighted in the odds area.
When a specific game is selected, the markets are displayed in groups with tabs at the top to switch between them. By default, just the Main Markets table is expanded. This typically features the head-to-head, line and total score markets, where applicable.
A search box is available within each fixture. This enables you to view specific markets and selections quickly. For example, if you enter a player’s name, you can view a list of that player’s odds in every player market (anytime scorer, first scorer, etc.).
The betting slip displays both multi and single bet options. A ‘Stake All Singles’ option is provided. This enables you to enter the same stake for all single bets in your slip. The multi bet tab enables you to remove selected legs from your multi. No built-in exotic multi functionality (Heinz, Yankee, etc.) is provided.
Where promotional boosts and offers are available, they are displayed with icons below the applicable selections in the betting slip.
Overall, the betting interface is incredibly fast and beginner-friendly. We love the search box to find specific market selections. Our biggest, albeit minor, gripe is only the head-to-head odds are shown when viewing a list of fixtures.
Horse Racing
The BetEstate racing interface uses a familiar layout. A speed map and runner ratings are available, along with tips supplied by RaceLab. A trifecta and, where available, a same-race multi link are available to quickly apply the selections provided by the tipping service. You can also build your own SRM using win, top 2, top 3 and top 4 markets.
The fixed odds are competitive. We compared the fixed odds for upcoming races to the best performing bookmaker in our latest bookmaker margins survey and we regularly observed equal or better odds on genuine contenders with BetEstate.
For marquee Saturday metro thoroughbred racecards we observed top fluc and Best of the Best for win markets. Best Tote is commonly offered for other metro win markets, while middle Tote is offered for place markets. For regional thoroughbreds we observed top fluc for win. For harness and greyhounds we observed middle Tote for win and place. SP is also available.
Generally, fixed odds are only available on the day of the race. One exception is feature Saturday racecards, where we did observe fixed odds on Friday.
Many international racecourses are supported, in addition to Australia and New Zealand.
Those who enjoy fixed odds wagering in the days leading up to an event will be disappointed, but everyone else is very well catered for.
Upsides
- Competitive odds
- Higher payout limits than some other bookmakers that use the Betmakers platform
- Good average review ratings on the Apple and Android app stores
- Weekly loyalty rewards
- Identity verification is automated and incredibly quick
- Ultra fast betting platform
- Australian owned
- Daily specials
- Online chat is available up to 13.5 hours a day
- Flexi betting is supported
- Same-race multis are supported
- Same-game multis are supported
- Low minimum stake
- Low minimum deposit
Downsides
- Little is known about the owning company
- Very limited range of futures markets
- Fixed odds for racing are generally only made available on the day of the race
- Line and totals markets for each game take multiple clicks to reach
- No in-play phone wagering
- Inactive account fees
Bottom Line
BetEstate is a solid bookmaker. The highlights of the service are the competitive odds, weekly loyalty rewards, the wide range of markets and the fast betting interface. The current drawbacks are the lack of racing fixed odds in the days leading up to most racecards and the lack of futures markets for sports. Overall, we highly recommend the service due to its usefulness in odds shopping, particularly for sports. BetEstate is also strong enough that a casual punter could use it as a standalone membership.
