THE LONG HARD LOOK WITH MIKE WILSON

NRL ROUND 2 PREVIEW

FRIDAY

Parramatta Eels vs. Penrith Panthers
Parramatta Stadium.
Kickoff 7:30pm (local)

It has been announced this week that the troubled Timana Tahu has left the Eels and will sign with Penrith. He won’t be strapping on the boots this week and it probably wouldn’t help the Panthers much either. Put bluntly, they were woeful last week. Parramatta on the other hand were cool, calm and collected as they clinically did away with the Warriors on foreign soil, with the structured format that was expected from them. This week, playing in front of the blue and gold faithful, the Eels just need to stick to their new game plan to keep the Panthers at bay.

Mike’s Best Bet: None

Canberra Raiders vs. Brisbane Broncos
Canberra Stadium, Canberra.
Kickoff 8:30pm (local)

The Raiders went through the Sharks last week like a hot knife through butter. They will be on a high and ready to impress the home crowd against the Broncos. Matt Orford has been named in the side but Josh Dugan has not. The Broncos haven’t had much success playing in Canberra in recent years and without Justin Hodges and Ben Hannant, the task of winning might be beyond them. Orford and McCrone will be testing the Broncos kick defence when in the Broncos 20 metres.

Mike’s Best Bet: $45 on Canberra @ $1.53 (Betfair)
