Punter bets $1m on Carlton’s Heath Scotland to win the Brownlow Medal

Punters have launched a sensational long odds move on Carlton’s Heath Scotland to win the Brownlow, with one punter backing him with a million dollar wager.

After a number of big punts, Scotland’s odds with Sportingbet have shortened from 2001.00 to 501.00 and Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said there had been support for him in other markets as well.

“We took a bet of $1m to $500 for him to win the Brownlow and another punter has had $1000 at $101 on him to finish in the top 5,” Sullivan said.

“He has also shortened from $67 to $34 to poll the most votes for Carlton in a hot field which obviously includes Chris Judd and Marc Murphy.

“I struggle to see him polling double figures, with so much strong competition in his own side, to be truthful but obviously punters have seen something I haven’t and the money has to be respected.”

Chris Judd remains the Brownlow Medal favourite at 1.80 ahead of Adam Goodes who has also been the subject of a massive betting plunge and is now 5.00.
