2011 ATP World Tour Finals – Final – Federer vs Tsonga

The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London conclude tonight with the final between Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. This is the third meeting between the two in the last two weeks after they met in the final of the Paris Masters and again in their first fixture of the London World Tour Finals. Federer won both the previous meetings and will look to make it three from three tonight. You can follow all of the action from the official website here.

Federer vs Tsonga

Federer boasts a 7-3 record against Tsonga, with a 5-2 record this year and a 2-0 record in November. In the Paris final a few weeks ago Federer won 6-1 7-6(3). In their opening fixture for the London Finals, Federer won 6-2 2-6 6-4. Federer is in fantastic form at the moment, having won the Basel and Paris ATP events prior to the tournament. Tsonga is in strong form himself, having made it to the Paris final last week and winning in Vienna earlier this year. His only losses of late have been to Roger Federer.

Tsonga has seen off Nadal, Fish and Berdych to reach the final, and based on this and the Paris ATP tournament results, you would have to argue he is in the second most in form player in the world at the moment. Federer wasn’t at his vintage best when he beat Ferrer in his semi-final, but you would have to believe he has enough in the tank to give 100% against Tsonga. Federer has a fantastic record in finals, and despite the 1.32 odds, I would still back Federer to take the 2011 title.
