Sportsbet – Race Comments & Tips:

Race 1:
NOTE: Rail is True, we have not raced here since Sept 6th, that day the rail was 7m and the inside lanes were inferior ground. Up to five debutantes in race 1: IRUKANDJI looked good at the jump outs and Encryption franked that form. OOHOOD and stablemate SECRET BLAZE have ability it seems. Of the raced: SANGLIER jumped out well prior to, and since that inconclusive debut when he drew the wrong spot. YULONG MONOCEROS was sound on debut and they ran useful time. LONG LEAF won quite well on debut in Adelaide.
Selections 3, 2, 6, 7

Race 2:
SPEED: 12 may lead 2, 4, 5, 6 with 1 and 9 perhaps next? LUQYAA ran home well against the Cup day pattern at Flemington and just missed a quality filly in Our Crown Mistress. LADY OF CREBILLY looked good in Adelaide from off the pace. It was a good day to lead for most of the day and she ran good time relative to the day. LEILA’S STAR rushed home behind Tamasa before the top maiden win and she looks like she will relish 1400m. SPLIT LIP can win if she runs 1400m out. SHAGRA, SIA, YULONG XINGSHENG are all hopes. SO FAR SOKOOL is a hope on the Tamasa form also.
Selections 3, 4, 14, 1

Race 3:
GALLIC CHIEFTAIN got lost in the Queen Elizabeth last week, making up a stack of ground. The run prior he just missed Vengeur Masque and beat home subsequent impressive winner FANATIC. Fanatic has run well at 3200m and this is Gallic Chieftain’s first attempt at the marathon trip. SWACADELIC swung wide (winner Fanatic saved ground) last week and ran very well. He just missed Qewy in this race last year and that horse was coming off a fourth in a Melbourne Cup! HAVANA COOLER and DOUKHAN next.
Selections 2, 3, 4, 1

Race 4:
SPEED: 1, 4 from 7 with 2, 3, 5, 6 capable of being handy. Not easy. BURNING FRONT rode a fearsome speed at MV last time and had to crack. He has dropped sharply in trip in the past and run well in a Group 1 Stradbroke. ILLUSTRIOUS LAD was better than KEEN ARRAY at Flemington behind Rich Charm. Having said that, Keen Array can have an ”off day”! THRONUM won like the good horse he is fresh at Bendigo. It’s no easy task at weight-for-age for him but I want him on my side. OCEAN EMBERS impressed at Flemington beating Group 1-placed Faatinah. The small field suits her.
Selections 8, 1, 3, 7

Race 5:
SPEED: 2, 3 from 6 then 8. LUCKY HUSSLER is the class! He looked super at MV then forgive the Cantala Stakes (Kennedy Mile) miss when he pulled up sore. He has been on the heels of Black Heart Bart and Tosen Stardom at weight-for-age. HELLOVA STREET can run great time from the front and he did that out to 1400m again last start. MOSS ‘N’ DALE beat a subsequent Flemington quinella in the Sale Cup latest. Not much between DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR and LAND OF PLENTY. I’m thinking advantage Land of Plenty today at 1500m?
Selections 8, 1, 2, 6

Race 6:
SPEED: 4 may lead 2, 3, 8, 10 with 7, 13 handy. Good race for CRYSTAL DREAMER, who chased a quality sprinter up the straight at Flemington in fast time last week. His one run here was a good win, beating Rich Charm. GUN CASE is a ripper at these sprint trips and did a great job at MV with his 60kg. LADY ESPRIT was sound with 59kg against males latest and is unbeaten here. Both wins were at 1000m. OLIVIER is a live hope fresh. THELBURG was backed fresh but totally luckless! DERRYN is the quality but back to 1000m? CONCEALER has a good case but is also back in trip.
Selections 3, 1, 2, 10

Race 7:
SPEED: 3 may lead 5, 8 and 2, 6? ALMANDIN was a forgive run in the Melbourne Cup. It was the wrong day to be three wide/no cover (is there a good one at 3200m?). The weight-for-age scale suits him best. BIG DUKE was good in the Cup, beating home many high-class stayers. THE TAJ MAHAL was much better in the Emirates. Yes, he was every chance but he was alongside some proper Group 1 horses. BERISHA looks ready to win. Bet they wish this race was not weight-for-age is all. CONSOMMATEUR the best roughie for mine.
Selections 1, 2, 8, 4

Race 8:
Not sure speedmap: 10, 3, 8 go forward. 11 handy. 1, 2 can settle much closer today. 9 next? Both SNITZEPEG and BEAU GESTE were very good in the Carbine Club from way back. Doubt there is much between them. OCTABELLO and HYPNOTIST were not far off them. That form ties in with BLACK SAIL. ICON OF DUBAI was well fancied to beat Snitzepeg here but had some post-race issues. Very wary him. PEACEFUL STATE looks highly promising. He ran good splits home at Ballarat, and Tezlah ties his form in. VILLERMONT has a case also.
Selections 2, 1, 10, 5

Race 9:
SPEED: 3 can lead 1, 7, 8, 12 with 13 handy. Not sure 4. 6 off them. KIDMENEVER had genuine excuses in the Herbert Power and is back a notch here. Safe to say RAW IMPULSE should have won last week. He drops to 56kg today, but gate 1? DODGING BULLETS is going super. That Odeon form looks good now and ties in BALF’S CHOICE and NOZOMI. Still not sure if PURE PRIDE runs a strong 1800m. Forget last start when she was lame, her win over the now Group 1-placed Wyndspelle is easy to like. PAYROLL jumped in trip in the Matriarch and beat all bar a promising one.
Selections 10, 9, 1, 6

Race 10:
SPEED: 12, 16 may lead 10, 4 & 5. 7, 14, 15 handy? PETITION was having her first run in the blinkers in the Tristarc when badly blocked. She was full of running too! She still managed the quickest last 200m of the day despite not being tested. Shillelagh was also excellent in that race, then won a G1 against males. OREGON’S DAY has had a tough prep and finally, finally draws a gate! If she’s right, she’ll go close here. RAVI is acting like 1500m will suit. The wide gate may be okay by now. QUILATE, DIVINE QUALITY are chances. MISS GARDENIA the overs? SEBRING DREAM and INVINCIBELLA live hopes.
Selections 8, 2, 5

Ladbrokes Race Comments:

Race 1:
Plenty of these on debut LONG LEAF won at only start at Morphettville, standout top pick. SANGLIER back from six week let-up and finished in the middle of the pack at only start at Flemington, capabable of getting into the money. YULONG MONOCEROS finished midfield at only start at Flemington and drops 1kg from last run, place hope. OOHOOD first start and fitter for Morphettville trial, place claims.

Race 2:
LADY OF CREBILLY winner of last two at Morphettville and down in weight, has solid claims. LUQYAA just missed as favourite last start at Flemington and has two placings from three runs this prep, don’t dismiss. YULONG XINGSHENG is a strong finisher, in with a chance. SWORN EVIDENCE finished six lengths off the winner last start at Flemington and capable of closing gamely, chance to place.

Race 3:
GALLIC CHIEFTAIN on a seven day back-up and has two placings from five runs this prep, serious player. DOUKHAN bolted in last start at Randwick and gets out to the right distance range, quinella. FANATIC surprised punters to win at long odds last start at Flemington and gets out to the right distance range, place chance. HAVANA COOLER came on to finish midfield last start at Flemington and faces a rise in distance, chance to place.

Race 4:
Can’t split the top three selections. ILLUSTRIOUS LAD placed when fresh and gets a nice run behind a genuine tempo, commands respect. BURNING FRONT generally races near the speed and won eight of 11 as a favourite, if in the finish no surprise. KEEN ARRAY won once this prep at Flemington three runs back and won’t be far away in the run, in the mix. BASSETT on a seven day back-up and all five wins have come in the dry, not the worst.

Race 5:
DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR winner of three in a row after last start win at Flemington, has solid claims. MOSS ‘N’ DALE generally races near the speed and five wins from 11 attempts this campaign, sneaky chance. HELLOVA STREET gave nothing else a chance to win last start at Flemington and should look to roll forward, could threaten. LAND OF PLENTY has two placings from five runs this prep and amongst the placegetters last start running second at Flemington, chance to place.

Race 6:
CRYSTAL DREAMER in the money last start running second at Flemington and has two placings from four runs this prep, a winning chance. GUN CASE coming off a win at Moonee Valley and goes well at Sandown, each-way claims. DERRYN Mark Zahra a bonus and should race just off the speed, in with a chance. CONCEALER only just missed last start, finishing a neck back from the winner at Flemington and drawn perfectly, looks threatening.

Race 7:
BIG DUKE placed in the Metropolitan this campaign and goes down to right distance range, big chance. ALMANDIN drawn perfectly and won once this prep at Flemington three runs back, in with a chance. BERISHA a strong finisher and drops 1kg from last run, place best. THE TAJ MAHAL short back-up of seven days and finished fourth last start in the Mackinnon Stakes, needs the breaks.

Race 8:
VILLERMONT winner at Benalla and placed once this campaign, well placed. I’LL HAVE A BIT chased well to fall just short last start in the Fillies Classic and likely to race just off the speed, looks threatening. BEAU GESTE chased well to fall just short last start at Flemington and capable of closing gamely, dangerous. BLACK SAIL winner at Echuca and placed three times this campaign, still in this.

Race 9:
RAW IMPULSE short back-up of seven days. Kept chasing and just missed last start at Flemington, has solid claims. PAYROLL short back-up of seven days and amongst the placegetters last start running second in the Matriarch Stakes, could upset. BALF’S CHOICE 6 wins from 10 attempts this campaign and finished two lengths off the winner last start at Flemington, could threaten. KIDMENEVER has shown early speed in races to date and may fade late, still in this.

Race 10:
PETITION has two placings from four runs this prep and chased well to fall just short last start in the Tristarc Stks, a winning chance. DIVINE QUALITY winner at Ballarat and placed once this campaign, in with a chance. RED IS THE ROSE coming off a win at Moonee Valley and two wins from five attempts this campaign, place claims. INVINCIBELLA has been running well this campaign winning twice and placing in all other outings but disappointed when placing as favourite last start at Flemington, place only.
