Race 8:
Expert Tips provided by Best Bets
The big one of the day, map suggests Tom Melbourne & It’s Somewhat should settle one/two with Oregon’s Day & Comin’ Through (crossing over from wide out) parked behind. Suggesting the two ex Japanese runners AMBITIOUS & SATONO RASEN can fight out the finish with a slight leaning to AMBITIOUS who I quite like coming in off a 5 week break, fought hard in the Tancred before a forgivable effort in the QE behind Winx. SATONO ROSEN didn’t see a lot of daylight in the Hollindale until late, snuck through nicely though & should gain an economical run. OREGON’S DAY next best, box seats again.
Selections 3 Ambitious, 7 Satono Rasen, 12 Oregon’s Day, 4 Tom Melbourne

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 8:
AMBITIOUS (3) Had no luck last start in the Queen Elizabeth and will be hitting the line strongly. Rates a winning chance. OREGON’S DAY (12) Strong win in the Hollindale and maps beautifully. Respect against this field. TOM MELBOURNE (4) Racing very honestly this prep and will be in the right spot. Should be around the mark. TRADESMAN (10) Has a great record at the trip and is flying for Darren Weir. Expecting a big run at odds.
Selections: 3 Ambitious, 12 Oregon’s Day, 4 Tom Melbourne, 10 Tradesman

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 8:
OREGON’S DAY Handled the step up in distance with aplomb to win the Hollindale last start. Has an extra 200m to travel here but that doesn’t look an issue the way she won last start. The Hollindale is the premier form reference for this which makes her the horse to beat again. TRADESMAN Is a Perth Cup Placegetter and returned to the winner’s list with an emphatic win over the Warrnambool Carnival last start. Has to be respected with the Darren Weir polish and is a genuine winning chance. TOM MELBOURNE A perennial Group I placegetter but just cannot crack it for the win. Ran his usual honest race when runner-up in the Hollindale last start. Hard to recommend as a genuine winning chance but he is a must for the wider exotics. EGG TART Wasn’t far away in the Hollindale Stakes last start but reckon she needs a wet track to be a genuine winning chance.

Flemington

Unibet – Shaun Beirne:

My Tips
1. Thronum
2. Viddora
3. Super Cash
4. Vega Magic
Suggested Bets:
Back Viddora (8.50) and Thronum (11.00) to win.
If investing 10 units level stake the pair.
Mix up 3, 5, 8, 13, 18 in exotics for a big result.

Betfair – Lay Nominations:

Surveyed on course bookmakers recommend you lay (bet against) the following runners:

Race 3 #1 Miss Admiration
Race 4 #1 Savapinski

Neds – Suggested Runners:

Runners are listed in number order, not order of preference.

Race 7: 1 Vega Magic, 4 Secret Agenda, 5 Viddora, 14 Handsome Thief

Palmerbet – G1 Preview:

Race 7: 1. FLAMBERGE, 2. Viddora, 3. Thronum, 4. Steel Frost

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 7:
THRONUM has been freshened since running second to Hellbent in the William Reid in March. He has drawn to get a good run from gate 5. VEGA MAGIC will be hard to hold out. He defeated Brave Smash at Caulfield when carrying 60.5kg first up last campaign. VIDDORA hasn’t been seen since running second to Dainty Tess in the Irwin four weeks ago. She was scratched from the Ubet Classic a fortnight ago due to a setback. VIRIDINE hasn’t had any luck in recent runs but he has the “visitor’s draw” to contend with today. Don’t underestimate VOODOO LAD – he has a terrific first up record.
Selections 3 Thronum, 1 Vega Magic, 5 Viddora, 10 Viridine

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 7:
VEGA MAGIC (1) Great first-up record and appears to have class on the rest of the field. Can make it consecutive wins in this race. VIDDORA (5) A return to best form would see her go very close today. Each way all day. VOODOO LAD (6) Can fire fresh and previous form is good enough for this. Watch betting. THRONUM (3) Could lead them the whole way if it gets a soft pace. Nice chance at odds.
Selections: 1 Vega Magic, 5 Viddora, 6 Voodoo Lad, 3 Thronum

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 7:
VEGA MAGIC Is chasing back to back Goodwood wins after carrying 56.5kg to victory last year. Has won 12 from 20 and resumes on the back of a Tatura trial win and has to be respected fresh. VIDDORA Hasn’t raced for four weeks but does run his best races fresh. Won the Winterbottom at Ascot with a 36-day break before getting the money in the Magic Million Sprint after a six-week break between races. Just looked a run short when runner-up in the Irwin last start and she’s a genuine winning chance. HANDSOME THIEF Has won two of last three and is chasing back to back victories after winning the Wangoom at Morphettville last start. Is still to be proven this grade but can get into the placings. SECRET AGENDA Finished fourth in this race last year. Has finished runner-up last two at Morphettville and rates as one of the key chances with the same weight.

Rosehill

Race 5, No. 8 Solo Mission – 3.5 stars

Quaddie: 3, 4, 6, 10 / 3, 5, 7, 8, 11 / 4, 6, 7 / 2, 4, 7, 11

Unibet – Shaun Beirne:

Race 4:
Back Coup De Main (3.60) to win.

Race 8:
Back both Hay Now (26.00) and Latitude (21.00) each way and if either run a place we won’t lose on the race.
If investing 10 units have 3 each way Latitude and 2 each way Hay Now.
