Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
TONY NICCONI (4) Brave effort to win last time around here and is drawn nicely. Flawless this campaign with 2 wins from starts. Worth consideration. AYLMERTON (2) Won narrowly two runs back at Randwick and will appreciate the drop in grade. Back after a spell. Better claims. GRANNY RED SHOES (15) Found another gear when winning last time at Doomben and has a nice turn of foot. Resuming after a break. Has the ability to figure. SEABROOK (6) Was fighting out the finish when winning last start at Randwick and finishes off strongly. Don’t dismiss
Selections: 4 Tony Nicconi, 2 Aylmerton, 15 Granny Red Shoes, 6 Seabrook

Race 7:
VEGA MAGIC (3) Sprinting sensation who is unbeaten at the track and distance. Likely to prove too speedy for these. KEMENTARI (8) Did look slightly flat when beaten 3.2L by Winx last time out but expecting a bounce back in performance today. Each way the play. HAPPY CLAPPER (1) Classy type who should be ready to go after two recent barrier trials. Looking for another solid performance first up. KINGS WILL DREAM (7) Sure to take great benefit from his impressive first up efforts. Will be flashing home late if the speed is on early.
Selections: 3 Vega Magic, 8 Kementari, 1 Happy Clapper, 7 Kings Will Dream

Race 8:
VOODOO LAD (3) Scored a victory by last run at Flemington and easy to come into at this trip. Tracking very well this preparation. Can have an impact. KEMONO (12) Japanese import having first Australian start for Darren Weir. Resuming after a spell and has good wraps. Has to be included. SANTA ANA LANE (1) Was all too good winning by last start at Doomben and should get going late. First up from a spell. Not the worst in this field. BRAVE SMASH (2) Resuming after a break of 19 weeks. Faded to finish 10th last run at Randwick but will appreciate the drop in grade. Could sneak a place.
Selections: 3 Voodoo Lad, 12 Kemono, 1 Santa Ana Lane, 2 Brave Smash

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
SPEED: 4, 10 may lead 2, 13 but many others capable of being handy. SEABROOK should have won here fresh last prep then beat Fiesta before a good effort in the Golden Slipper. BONDI has been competitive with Seabrook and trialled up nicely for the return. ENCRYPTION was luckless fresh in a fast race. He may be silly odds today. AYLMERTON jumped out nicely. TONY NICCONI is unbeaten and no knock. NATIVE SOLDIER was a huge betting drifter when third to him fresh. Fitter now! GRANNY RED SHOES is a nice filly. Wary her.
Selections: 6. Seabrook, 7. Bondi, 1. Encryption, 2. Aylmerton

Race 7:
SPEED: 5 leads 3, 10 & 6. VEGA MAGIC was back to his brilliant best fresh running sustained fast sectionals. The worry is his recent run on rain-affected ground was below that standard. HAPPY CLAPPER is a gun! He has won his last two fresh, the latter in track record time at 1300m. He then gave Winx a scare! Recent trial super. KEMENTARI was far from disappointing last time when only 3.2 lengths off the freak show that is Winx. He was on the heels of Happy Clapper when they clashed last prep. SHOWTIME won the Lawrence well and is in the game. KINGS WILL DREAM and GRUNT may need further now.
Selections: 1. Happy Clapper, 3. Vega Magic, 8. Kementari, 10. Showtime

Race 8:
SPEED: 8, 7 lead 5, 10, 11, 12 can be handy. SANTA ANA LANE’s last three runs have been outstanding. He carries weight well and trialled up nicely. BRAVE SMASH has never been at 1100m but beat home Santa Ana Lane last August when fresh at 1200m. VOODOO LAD is match-fit and flying. He has dropped in trip before (at G1 level) and run very well. He loves Caulfield. RICH CHARM can win if right. He too loves it here. BALL OF MUSCLE would love a leader bias. He boasts a second to Redzel when fresh last September. KEMONO creates interest. He reportedly jumped out well and is a G3 winner at home. Wet?
Selections: 1. Santa Ana Lane, 3. Voodoo Lad, 12. Kemono, 2. Brave Smash

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 6:
TONY NICCONI unbeaten in both runs and Luke Nolen has had success aboard previously, a winning chance. AYLMERTON first-up after 23 week break and winner when on debut at Canterbury, don’t treat lightly. BONDI back from 19 week spell and won last trial at Gosford, still in this. SEABROOK first-up after 19 week break and bolted in last start in the Champagne Stakes, don’t dismiss.

Race 7:
DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR won last start at Morphettville when first up and five of eight wins have come from dry ground, well placed. SHOWTIME coming off a win in the P.B. Lawrence Stakes and has placed in two of four Group I attempts, dangerous. VEGA MAGIC led throughout for a dominant win last start at Caulfield when fresh and has good early speed, could upset. BLACK HEART BART won five of 21 Group I attempts and known to be strong late, don’t dismiss.

Race 8:
A race with a standout top pick. VOODOO LAD chased strongly to win last start at Flemington and six of 12 wins have come from dry ground, major contender. BRAVE SMASH first-up after 19 week spell and drawn perfectly, place claims. FUHRYK resumes after a 23 week spell and all wins have come when faced with dry ground, not the worst. WHYPEEO first-up after 14 week spell and winner of two when first-up including a win at Doomben last go, chance to place.

Betfair – Race Analysis & Selections:

Race 6:
AYLMERTON won two of his three starts in debut campaign including the Group 2 Todman Stakes and he returns for a new yard today. Steps out in Victoria for the first time and looks right up to winning this race today. BONDI was narrowly beaten in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes by Seabrook prior to a spell and resumes today of a trial win. More than capable of running into the finish fresh with TONY NICCONI also worth including off two recent wins. Has fitness on his side and you can’t knock winning form.
SEABROOK and GRANNY RED SHOES also in the mix in what looks a very open race.
1. Aylmerton (5 stars)
2. Bondi (4 stars)
3. Tony Nicconi (4 stars)

Race 7:
VEGA MAGIC returned in terrific order to win the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes last start over Voodoo Lad who went on to win the Aurie’s Star. Goes up to the 1400m for this where he is undefeated and with the run under his belt looks hard to beat second up. KEMENTARI just missed after having no luck in the Missile before a slightly disappointing effort behind Winx in her race last start. Certainly a capable type and remaining over the 1400m third up should be prominent. HAPPY CLAPPER returns today and has a pretty good record when fresh previously. Form in the autumn was terrific and he will be getting to the line strongly.
1. Vega Magic (5 stars)
2. Kementari (5 stars)
3. Showtime (4 stars)

Race 8:
VOODOO LAD continues to race well, winning two of his last three and runner up to Vega Magic on the other occasion. Has fitness on his side and with a terrific record at the course and over this trip could prove too strong once again. SANTA ANA LANE finished last campaign with two Group 1 wins in the Goodwood and Stradbroke. Recent trial form has been okay and despite aiming up at bigger targets like the Everest should give a big sight. WHYPEEO also returns off a handy winter carnival and has each way claims.
1. Voodoo Lad (5 stars)
2. Santa Ana Lane (4 stars)
3. Whypeeo (4 stars)

Race 8: 1 Oohood, 2 Fiesta, 4 Outback Barbie, 12 Miss Fabulass

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
PIERATA (4) Nearing peak fitness. Fought on well to win last start at this track. Inclined to respect any betting moves and presents good prospects. LE ROMAIN (1) Got the cash when winning by last run at this venue and should race on the speed. Appears as a winning threat. LANCIATO (9) Got going late when 4th last run at this venue and shows very good finishing speed. Races well second up winning 3 from 3 runs. Knockout chance in this. TOM MELBOURNE (12) Good show when finishing 2nd two runs back at Gold Coast and has a nice advantage with a good alley. Racing fresh today after a break. Place hope
Selections: 4 Pierata, 1 Le Romain, 9 Lanciato, 12 Tom Melbourne

Race 7:
UNFORGOTTEN (15) Bold effort to win two runs back at this course. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. One of the better chances. PRIZED ICON (7) Resumed from a break last start and all the better for that run. Came in 3rd last run at Rosehill but racing in stronger company here. Contender. CABEZA DE VACA (10) Ended up 3.4L behind the winner at this venue last time but likely to be well placed early. Proven record second up with 3 wins from 4 runs. Honest enough to be an each way player. SINGLE GAZE (13) First up from a spell. Snuck in a place when 2nd two runs back at Rosehill and drops back to a suitable class. Can surprise and by no means out of it.
Selections: 15 Unforgotten, 7 Prized Icon, 10 Cabeza de Vaca, 13 Single Gaze

Race 8:
MISS FABULASS (12) Strips fitter today. Bold effort to win last start at Canterbury but facing a stronger grade. Big chance. PURE ELATION (3) Finished on top by last start here and jockey Michael Walker is a plus. Well placed and has solid claims. FIESTA (2) Having second run back from a break. Game effort to win last time at the track. Worth a ticket here. OOHOOD (1) Caught the eye when 2nd two runs back at this track and will be trying to topple them late. Must respect in this event.
Selections: 12 Miss Fabulass, 3 Pure Elation, 2 Fiesta, 1 Oohood

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
Outstanding contest this one. 8 the logical leader with 3 (maybe), 4 and 6 trailing handy. LE ROMAIN hauled the big weight and was simply too good on return. His 1400m record has always been impressive and this prep he gets to it quicker than he did last prep. No reason to knock. PIERATA proved beyond any doubt he is a genuine top level galloper with his Missile win. He ought to be stalking beautifully in the run. COMIN’ THROUGH is always solid fresh and his latest trial was sound even though TOM MELBOURNE beat him home. TOM was 2nd (of course) to Happy Clapper in this race last year. Maybe that trial win may have switched his winning mindset on???
Selections: 1. Le Romain, 4. Pierata, 2. Comin’ Through, 12. Tom Melbourne

Race 7:
10 to lead 3, 5 and do keep in mind that RED EXCITEMENT caused a stir in this race 12 months ago when leading and giving Winx one hell of a fright. Speaking of Winx, UNFORGOTTEN (from out back) and CABEZA DE VACA (leadig up) were both sound in the race named after the world champ. Like where UNFORGOTTEN draws here with that run now under her belt. She possesses a great sprint when she is allowed to show it. PRIZED ICON solid under a hefty weight when returning. He may just nee a bit of luck from a wider barrier. SINGLE GAZE always worthy of respect of course and she was unlucky not to win the Orr Stakes 1st-up last prep. Joins Waller after being ‘unretired’.
Selections: 15. Unforgotten, 10. Cabeza De Vaca, 7. Prized Icon, 13. Single Gaze

Race 8:
10 and 11 the main pace. FIESTA can sneak a nice trail and should only be better for beating a few of these first-up. OOHOOD the most notable of those I guess. Expected more from her there but we note blinkers are reapplied for this run. MISS FABULASS is bred to be anything and won as expected in the tiny field off the break. Did Ranier frank the form earlier? I was very taken with the recent trial of PRETTY IN PINK and would expect her to measure up to a high level this campaign.
Selections: 2. Fiesta, 12. Miss Fabulass, 8. Pretty In Pink, 1. Oohood

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 6:
PIERATA last start winner in the Missile Stakes when resuming and drops 1.5kg from last run, the testing material. LE ROMAIN coming off a win at Randwick when resuming and carrying less weight, cannot be ruled out. COMIN’ THROUGH resumes after a spell of 15 weeks and last start winner in the Doomben Cup, quinella. DIXIE BLOSSOMS resumes from a 20 week spell. Proven first-up winning two from five when fresh and won at Randwick last go, place chance.

Race 7:
UNFORGOTTEN comes to hand quickly and won at Rosehill when last second-up, hard to go past. PRIZED ICON faded to finish on the winners’ heels last start at Rosehill when first up and up in distance, sneaky chance. SEDANZER has a place in two trials and seven from eight wins have been in the dry, the real danger in the race. PATRICK ERIN will come to hand quickly and a winner when last second-up at Ashburton (NZ), place best.

Race 8:
FIESTA won last start in the Silver Shadow Stakes when first up and will be happy to get a good track, the testing material. OUTBACK BARBIE ran on strong to finish on the winner’s heels last start in the Silver Shadow Stakes when resuming, could threaten. OOHOOD came on to finish midfield last start in the Silver Shadow Stakes when first up and placed at Caulfield in only second-up attempt, needs the breaks. MISS FABULASS strong in winning last start to break maiden at Canterbury when first up and has had a flying start to their career, place chance.

Betfair – Race Analysis & Selections:

Race 6:
Arguably the race of the afternoon with a number of our stars set to clash in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes. PIERATA returned with a bang last start when aided by a masterful ride from James McDonald. Got the jump on Kementari there and was too strong late. Since kept fresh (28 days) and has trialled very well in the lead up. Sure to appreciate the step up in trip and has drawn to get a lovely suck run. Hard to beat. LE ROMAIN returned with a bang last start and is sure to make his presence felt with Bowman back in the saddle (placed 5/8). LANCIATO will go back from the draw, but watch for him flying late.
1. Pierata (5 stars)
2. Le Romain (4 stars)
3. Lanciato (4 stars)

Race 7:
Tricky race with close to half the field first up. UNFORGOTTEN did enough first up to suggest she can display sharp improvement second up, having really found the line well late behind Winx. Has never missed the money second up and has drawn to get a lovely run. Bowman legs back aboard and confident she is clearly the best horse in the race. Hard to beat. ACE HIGH failed to fire in his return, however he is clearly better than that and is worth another chance stepping up to the mile. SINGLE GAZE raced in great order last time in and has to be respected on debut for the Chris Waller stable.
1. Unforgotten (5 stars)
2. Ace High (4 stars)
3. Single Gaze (4 stars)

Race 8:
Cracking fillies’ contest with a near capacity field set to face the starter in this year’s Furious Stakes. OOHOOD found the line well late in her return and is expected to display sharp improvement racing second up. Notably gets the blinkers back on and she did get caught in no man’s land down the outside last start. Confident her run was a lot better than it appears on paper. Has a touch of class and should prove hard to beat. FIESTA won well fresh and suspect she can only improve second up. Bowman legs aboard and she looms as a major threat. OUTBACK BARBIE had no luck first up and appears the next in line.
1. Oohood (5 stars)
2. Fiesta (4 stars)
3. Outback Barbie (4 stars)

Sunshine Coast

BetEasy – The Wolf:

Race 4, No.6 Gypsy Toff – 3.5 stars
