Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
SMART MELODY (5) Ultra impressive filly who keeps raising the bar. No reason to think she can’t make it six wins on the trot today. EL DORADO DREAMING (1) Stablemate to the favourite who looks set to get a nice run from the barrier. Will be finishing strongly. THRILLSTER (4) Has been racing in good form this prep and can go on with the job here. Each way the play. AMPHITRITE (7) Brought up a hat-trick of wins last start but has drawn the outside barrier today. Watch out late.
Selections: 5 Smart Melody, 1 El Dorado Dreaming, 4 Thrillster, 7 Amphitrite

Race 7:
SHILLELAGH (4) Should take plenty of benefit from her run in the Epsom. A soft run in transit would see her go close. LAND OF PLENTY (5) Racing well but has the outside gate to overcome. Will be hoping for early speed and should be flashing down the outside late. NOIRE (10) Will be searching for runs in the straight but can make a claim in this. Each way hope. JUNGLE CAT (2) Godolphin import who was too classy for them last time out. Will be better for that run and should be hitting the line strongly.
Selections: 4 Shillelagh, 5 Land of Plenty, 10 Noire, 2 Jungle Cat

Race 8:
BENBATL (1) First up in Australia and looks to have found a race to suit. Should be fit enough and rates on top here in an open race. UNFORGOTTEN (12) Ticking all very nicely this prep. This mare has a big win in her soon and today could be the day. HUMIDOR (2) Will use this race as a stepping stone towards another tilt at the Cox Plate and could easily take this out. Worth an each way investment. D’ARGENTO (10) Will have to make up plenty of ground from the barrier but has the finishing speed to overcome that. Watch out late.
Selections: 1 Benbatl, 12 Unforgotten, 2 Humidor, 10 D’Argento

Race 9:
THE AUTUMN SUN (1) Has drawn perfectly here and has the turn of foot to put this field away with ease. Very hard to beat. NATIVE SOLDIER (2) Strong effort here last time out and could prove hard to run down if gifted a soft run on pace. Clear danger to the favourite. LEONARDO DA HINCHI (4) Performed well over the trip last start at Moonee Valley. Each way claims if he can slot in from the awkward draw. OOHOOD (15) No longer Australia’s best maiden after her impressive win last week. May settle closer this time around and can finish in the placings at least.
Selections: 1 The Autumn Sun, 2 Native Soldier, 4 Leonardo Da Hinchi, 15 Oohood

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 6:
SPEED: 5, 9 from 4, 12, 13 but any of 2, 11, 14, 15 may be handy? SMART MELODY won a high-rating Prelude riding a strong speed, fastest of four 1400m races on the day, two won by talented older males. Can she run a strong 1600m the unknown. THRILLSTER was enormous behind her when wide/working yet still ran quicker home last 200m. EL DORADO DREAMING was only first up. She was strong to the line and probably should have beaten SEABROOK when they clashed at 1600m in autumn. MIRETTE is a group horse. She smashed the clock home at Benalla. FIESTA right in this. 7 (gate?), 10, 11 hopes also.
Selections: 1. El Dorado Dreaming, 5. Smart Melody, 4. Thrillster, 15. Mirette

Race 7:
SPEED: 6, 7, 18 with 8, 11, 13, 14 all capable of being handy. Great race. HARTNELL beat two up-and-coming stars in the Epsom and broke the Randwick track record. Just edging up to 59kg makes things a touch harder. SHILLELAGH flew home behind him and not many make ground on Unforgotten at the end of a race! LAND OF PLENTY was enormous last time but 1600m/gate 19? JUNGLE CAT wore down DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR in that Rupert Clarke, both were excellent. NOIRE is flying. She beat Youngstar last time and that girl then stretched Winx!! RADIPOLE or WAGING WAR best blowouts?
Selections: 4. Shillelagh, 10. Noire, 5. Land Of Plenty, 1. Hartnell

Race 8:
SPEED: 6, 11 can lead. 4, 7 can sit closer at 2000m. The first four home from the Group 1 Underwood are here: HOMESMAN was tough beating TOSEN BASIL (both second up) with HUMIDOR and BLAIR HOUSE finding the line very nicely behind them. Tosen Basil and Blair House (who was tardy and can sit closer today) may have more upside in the prep? D’ARGENTO was nutted by Hartnell in G1 Epsom in record time, UNFORGOTTEN flew home behind them. They both look in need of 2000m now. BENBATL and THE CLIFFSOFMOHER are proper Group 1 horses. What a race!!
Selections: 12. Unforgotten, 3. Tosen Basil, 7. Blair House, 6. Homesman

Race 9:
SPEED: 2, 11 from 4, 7. THE AUTUMN SUN is one of the more exciting 3YOs I’ve seen for a while. His Golden Rose win was phenomenal to the eye and the clock certainly backed him up. He ran 44.84 his last 800m off a very strong speed. On times/ratings he’s in a league of his own vs the 3YO males. First go Caulfield the unknown. Filly OOHOOD looks the only danger. She sailed by Maid of Heaven last time to win the G1 Flight and that girl then beat boys in a G1 in Sydney. GEM SONG has a future. NATIVE SOLDIER strong last time, now to 1600m. GOOD ‘N’ FAST, SACCHARO, LEONARDO DA HINCHI place hopes.
Selections: 1. The Autumn Sun, 15. Oohood, 6. Gem Song, 2. Native Soldier

Betfair – Race Analysis & Selections:

Race 6:
SMART MELODY just keeps winning races and made it five from as many starts when claiming the Group 2 Guineas Prelude last start over 1400m. Goes up to the mile for the first time with James McDonald to ride and she looks the one they have to beat again from barrier 2. EL DORADO DREAMING resumed well for new yard when third to Smart Melody last start. Placed over the mile last campaign in G1 company and will be hitting the line strongly. FIESTA brings strong Sydney form with her in the princess series and was only narrowly beaten over this trip in the Flight last start at Randwick.

Race 7:
SIEGE OF QUEBEC was okay in the Epsom last start but did not have a great deal go his way on that occasion and has drawn to get a much better run in this race today. Beat Pierata two back in the Bill Ritchie which is good form for this and down in the weights will take plenty of beating. LAND OF PLENTY ran on well to just miss when third to Jungle Cat in the Sir Rupert Clark last start. Won his start prior to that and has come back in terrific order this campaign. JUNGLE CAT resumed with a Group 1 win on his Australian debut. Up to the mile now which is a slight concern but expect him to be competitive.
1. Siege Of Quebec (5 stars)
2. Land Of Plenty (4 stars)
3. Jungle Cat (4 stars)

Race 8:
UNFORGOTTEN continues to race well this campaign and ran on well to finish third in the Epsom last start following a terrific win in the Chelmsford. The step up to the 2000m will really suit her now fourth up and she will take plenty of beating. BENBATL is an interesting runner who was last seen in the G1 Juddmonte Stakes at York in August. Has won at Group 1 company at both Meydan and Munich this year and expect a strong showing today. HUMIDOR will relish the step up to 2000m now and rarely runs a bad race.
1. Unforgotten (5 stars)
2. Benbatl (4 stars)
3. Humidor (4 stars)

Race 9:
THE AUTUMN SUN had no luck first up when third in the Stan Fox before a brilliant win in the Group 1 Golden Rose last start. Expect him to settle a little bit closer to the speed today and he will relish getting out to the mile now. Should arguably be undefeated from five career runs and he should be too good for these. LEONARDO DA HINCHI followed up some good form with a last start win at Moonee Valley. Remains over the mile and looks to have plenty of ability. GEM SONG is up in grade today but has come back in terrific order and is capable of a strong showing.

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 6:
SMART MELODY Puts an unbeaten record on the line winning her five starts to date including the Prelude last start. Gets all the favours on speed in a race where there doesn’t look to be much pressure and will get her chance to run out the 1600m for the first time. FIESTA Looked the winner in the Flight Stakes before being nailed on the line by Oohood. Has been a model of consistency in the three-year-races in Sydney and she has to be a winning chance again launching from an ideal gate. EL DORADO DREAMING Won the Sires Produce at Randwick in the Autumn before finishing third in the Champagne Stakes at her only 1600m start. Liked the way she hit the line in Thousand Guineas Prelude when third and she is right in play fitter second-up stepping up to the mile. THRILLSTER Hasn’t missed a place in her six starts and three times a winner including the Atlantic Jewel at Moonee Valley two back before a huge run in the Prelude last start when she kept closing over the 1400m after enduring a wide run in transit. She looks right up to a race like this.

Race 7:
JUNGLE CAT Arrived on the line to win the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield last start after three straight wins in Dubai. First go at the mile is a query but will get every chance to run the trip out from a good gate. LAND OF PLENTY Won the Macleod Stakes at Moonee Valley two back before having no luck when a close third in the Rupert Clark last start. Should be right at his peak fourth-up and suited stepping up to the mile. HARTNELL Showed his class to win the Epsom last start. Goes up 2kg for the win but the mile looks his best distance these days and is a winning hope again. I AM A STAR Is racing in great form chasing three wins on the trot after winning the Stock Stakes at Moonee Valley over the mile last start. Will need some luck from the gate but if it comes is racing well enough to be in the finish down in the weights.

Race 8:
D’ARGENTO Was nailed on the line in the Epsom last start. Won the Rosehill Guineas in the Autumn over this trip and rates a winning chance here. BLAIR HOUSE Won successive races in Dubai earlier in the year and didn’t get the clearest of runs in the straight in the Underwood having his first Australian start. Hasn’t won beyond 1800m looks the only concern. HUMIDOR Won the Memsie three back before a close third in the Underwood last start. The 2000m suits and he rates a winning chance. NIGHT’S WATCH Hit the line strongly to win the Naturalism last start. The Caulfield Cup is his goal and reckon he might find the WFA too tough here.

Race 9:
OOHOOD Unusual for a filly to tackle this race but Catchy did finish in the placings last year. Lost her best maiden in Australia tag winning the Flight Stakes relishing the mile at Randwick last start and it would be no surprise to see her go on with the job after a confidence boosting win. THE AUTUMN SUN Looked a top-liner in the making coming from the back of the field to win the Golden Rose last start after being unlucky in the Stan Fox. Won his only 1600m start winning the Group I J.J. Atkins during the Brisbane Winter Carnival and stands out as the one to beat. LEONARDO DA HINCHI Hasn’t missed a place in his five starts to date and is chasing back to back wins after a Stutts Stakes victory at Moonee Valley last start having his first run at the mile. Will be on the speed and that proven ability at the trip holds him in good stead. NATIVE SOLDIER Led for the last 900m and was too good in the Guineas Prelude last start and historically that race has been a key pointer to this. Only has to run out the mile for the first time.

Race 7:
1. Redzel (3 stars)
2. Santa Ana Lane (3 stars)
10. Shoals (3 stars)
17. Osborne Bulls (3 stars)

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 7:
VEGA MAGIC (5) Ready to peak now third up and will be aiming to go one better than last year. Rates on top in a race with many chances. TRAPEZE ARTIST (4) Should take benefit from last start and looks set to get a nice run. Can win here. SHOALS (10) Keeps raising the bar and won’t be harmed by the prospect of a heavy track. Looks a winning chance with clear running. REDZEL (1) Happy to put a line through his efforts last start. Will likely get a better run this time around and is looking to make it back-to-back wins in this race.
Selections: 5 Vega Magic, 4 Trapeze Artist, 10 Shoals, 1 Redzel

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 7:
The market suggests everything has a hope and I very much see it that way as well. REDZEL looks to lead and may, even in this race that’s worth a few quid, be largely left alone? Has to have a winning chance on that possibility alone. SANTA ANA LANE and SHOALS were set up by blistering speed in the Premiere and IN HER TIME was only just outgunned. IN HER TIME can sit just in behind the first few in the run and will be looming large. She can dash strongly from that stalking spot and has handled to Soft 6 (which may well be where we are by this stage). Hoping VIDDORA is in the frame as well.
Selections: 9. In Her Time, 2. Santa Ana Lane, 1. Redzel, 11. Viddora

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 7:
REDZEL Won this race last year on the back of four straight wins and whether he is going quite as well this year is a genuine query after his defeat in the Premiere Stakes last start, however finds the front comfortably from the inside gate and can bounce back. VEGA MAGIC Chased home Redzel in the inaugural Everest on an identical preparation having a six-week break after the Memsie Stakes which he won last year and finished a close fourth this year. Should settle in the first three in running and is right in the mix. SHOALS Has only missed a place once in her 12-starts and seven times a winner. Has been placed both runs this time in including a closing third in the Premiere Stakes last start. She should be right at her peak third-up and gets a soft run from the inside gate. A winning chance for sure. BRAVE SMASH Was beaten a length when third in this race last year and has been placed in each of his three runs this preparation including a runner-up finish in the Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley last start. Connections have plotted a different path this year with his lead-up races over 1000m and 1100m compared to 1200m races last year. May well be a touch fresh this year and can blouse these late.
