BetEasy – Race Synopsis:

Race 3:
TALENTED (2) is bred to be fast and good and followed the big Maiden win on debut with the quinella placing behind Microphone this venue at Listed level and she’s well-fancied in the Golden Slipper. Can only be improved and presents as the one to beat. VARDA (6) won the Maiden easily on debut heavily-backed and the stable has shown they can present them in much tougher after and win features. Williams should manage the rail and the Lonhro filly looks very promising. CHARLEISE (7) draws next to her and debuted in the Talented race and placed 3rd beaten 3.1L. Gets Zahra for Meech and looks a genuine chance. PELICAN (1) was on-pace winning the Open 2 FU at The Valley and that stacks right up.

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 3:
TALENTED (2) Won two runs back at Geelong. Rates well in this race. VARDA (6) Handy enough when winning last time at Bendigo and having second run today. Can make a claim. CHARLEISE (7) Grabbed towards the finish when 3rd last start around here and was on debut last time. Suitably placed in this race. PELICAN (1) Brave effort to win last run at Moonee Valley and having third run back from a break. Very tidy this preparation winning 1 from 2 starts. Minor prospects

Selections: 2 Talented, 6 Varda, 7 Charleise, 1 Pelican

Race 8:
ALIZEE (11) Has impressed in both start this preparation. Should go very close with clear running. MYSTIC JOURNEY (13) Explosive win in the Australian Guineas last start. A repeat of that performance would see her in the finish. HAPPY CLAPPER (1) Gets his chance to win another big time race with the lack of Winx here. Can take this out. HARTNELL (2) Old timer who looks ready to put in another big effort. Can add some value to the exotics.
Selections: 11 Alizee, 13 Mystic Journey, 1 Happy Clapper, 2 Hartnell

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 3:
TALENTED beat Sires winner La Tene on debut then closed off well behind live Golden Slipper hope Microphone here in fast time. CHARLEISE was good there chasing the speed. That was her debut run so fancy she has plenty of upside. FAVOURITE THINGS ran home hard that same race out wide against the track pattern on day. She went to MV and was pipped by PELICAN. For mine, you swap the runs they had and you swap the result. VARDA looked sharp on debut but times were only fair. FLIT was well backed on debut and had little luck behind FACT OR FABLE, who then had a bit against her in Pelican race.
Selections: 2. Talented, 3. Favourite Things, 7. Charleise, 12. Flit

Race 8:
SPEED: 12, 5 can lead 6, 1 with 2, 3 potentially handy. ALIZEE has been outstanding in her three wins this prep. In the latest she was wide/no cover yet still too good for them. Her last 1600m run was a brilliant Group 1 win in Sydney. MYSTIC JOURNEY smashed HAWKSHOT and AMPHITRITE in the Australian Guineas. Her strength late in that race was exceptional and the race rated higher than the Blamey Stakes on the day for mine. HAPPY CLAPPER ran a very fast 1600m last start, thrashing all bar Winx! MATERIAL MAN maybe the best blowout hope.
Selections: 11. Alizee, 13. Mystic Journey, 1. Happy Clapper, 12. Hawkshot

Race 3:
Talented (5 stars)
Varda (4 stars)
Charleise (4 stars)

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 3:
TALENTED Was a Geelong winner on debut before finishing runner-up in the Talindert Stakes at Flemington last start. Still has scope for improvement and rates as the one to beat. CHARLEISE Battled on well when placed in the Listed Talindert at Flemington on debut. She’s a winning chance with the benefit of race experience. PELICAN Has won two from three and is chasing back to back victories after hitting the line strongly to win at Moonee Valley last start. First run up the straight looks the only concern. INVINCIBLE LOTUS Led all the way to win at Seymour on debut. Looks to have some upside and is up to a race in town.

Race 8:
ALIZEE Has gone to another level this preparation and is unbeaten in three runs this campaign including the Futurity last start when she did some work in the run. Has won two races at the mile so no concerns stepping up in distance and she is a genuine winning chance.
AMPHITRITE Won the Vanity two back before working home nicely when placed in the Guineas last start. Has bright place prospects again.
MYSTIC JOURNEY She’s the pride of Tasmania with nine wins from 12 starts and could not have been more impressive last time out winning the Australian Guineas this track and distance. Just needs even luck from the wide gate to be in the finish again.
HAPPY CLAPPER Has chased home Winx last two and brave last time out in the Chipping Norton. Will be right on the speed and this is his chance to get back to the winner’s stall.

BetEasy – Race Synopsis:

Race 2:
EASY EDDIE (4) just failed to bring up the hat-trick last start when going down narrowly in the Listed Takeover Target. Racing in career best form and comes here fresh (58 days) off the back of a soft trial at Warwick Farm. Gets his chance at the weights and shapes as one of the hardest to beat. TREKKING (5) raced in good order last preparation and has to be kept safe fresh for the Cummings stable. Two trials in the lead up have been solid and he looms as a major threat with McEvoy sticking aboard. FIERY HEIGHTS (3) was very good in two runs last time in and remains under strong notice for the Barry Lockwood stable.

Race 3:
VILLAMI (10) justified her solid market support on debut when simply too sharp leading throughout over 1100m. Returned decent figures on that occasion and with natural improvement, she appears capable of taking that next step. Should be prominent from the inside draw and be in this for a long way. ATHIRI (4) closed off fairly well in the Blue Diamond Stakes last start and that does appear the A1 form here. JMac links back aboard and she looms as an obvious danger. PROBABEEL (1) measures right up on her New Zealand form and remains under strong notice in her Australian debut.

Race 4:
COSMIC FORCE (2) has been very good in both runs back this time in and now appears set to peak racing third up. The form through Microphone makes for good reading and with JMac taking over, he shapes as one of the hardest to beat. HIGHTAIL (1) was scratched from the Black Opal last Sunday in preference for this and has to be kept safe with the blinkers on for the first time. McEvoy sides his way and he looms as a major threat. BORN A WARRIOR (6) displayed decent ability on debut and has to be kept safe second up.

Race 5:
ARISTIA (6) returned with a bang last start when closing off well to finish third behind Oregon’s Day. Didn’t have the best of luck there and is expected to improve sharply racing second up. Trending the right way and shapes as one of the hardest to beat. VERRY ELLEEGANT (11) split Amphitrite and Fundamentalist first up and the fact JMac sticks is as good a push as any. Inside draw is tricky, but she clearly has the talent. QAFILA (10) impressed winning first up and has to be respected from the middle draw.

Race 6:
PATRICK ERIN (1) has taken on Winx at both starts to begin this preparation and looks to be trending the right way stepping up to 2000m. Will relish any rain about and rates highly on best form. Brown sticks and he shapes as one of the hardest to beat. RED CARDINAL (3) won well fresh on debut for the Kris Lees stable and while he had the race run to suit, hard to knock the way he finished it off. Rates well off the back of that effort and looms as a major threat. GOATHLAND (11) also won well fresh and appears the next in line.

Race 7:
MOSS TRIP (20) closed off well first up in the Millie Fox Stakes and remains open to good improvement racing second up. Has since been given a soft trial and will relish any rain about. Well placed down in the weights and with even luck she should prove hard to hold out. JAMAICAN RAIN (17) won well first up at Caulfield and is another who eats the mud. Should press forward from the middle draw and be in this for a long way. I AM SERIOUS (11) was only narrowly beaten first up and she too can improve sharply here. Will no doubt relish the step up to 1500m and looms as a major threat.

Race 8:
FIFTY STARS (3) displayed sharp improvement up to the mile last start when too strong winning the Blamey. Only won narrowly, but took a good step forward and should have no concerns with the wet track. Drawn well and shapes as one of the hardest to beat. WIDGEE TURF (4) went down as the odds-on favourite last start, but still no knock on his effort and he should be nearing his peak racing third up. Should relish the extra trip and looms as a major threat. LAND OF PLENTY (1) gets the blinkers on for the first time and has to be respected at the top of the weights.

Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 2:
TREKKING (5) Racing fresh after a break. Displayed potential when winning three runs back at Caulfield and hard to fault at this distance. Can go on with it. EASY EDDIE (4) Good win three runs back at Kensington. Jockey Robbie Dolan rates highly. Can figure here. FIERY HEIGHTS (3) Brave effort to win two runs back at Doomben and shows good early pace. Races well in these conditions so do not discard. MUSIC MAGNATE (1) Gave plenty of cheek when 3rd three runs back at Randwick but first up here. Place wouldn’t shock.
Selections: 5 Trekking, 4 Easy Eddie, 3 Fiery Heights, 1 Music Magnate

Race 3:
ATHIRI (4) Landed the spoils when winning three runs back here and third up from a break. Jockey James Mcdonald and trainer James Cummings are usually competitive together. Right in this. PROBABEEL (1) Showed promise when winning last start at Ellerslie. Major player. VILLAMI (10) Was first to greet the judge when winning last start at this venue and having second career run. Contender. LANKAN STAR (2) Good win three runs back at Moonee Valley and back in an easier grade. Has to be strongly considered.
Selections: 4 Athiri, 1 Probabeel, 10 Villami, 2 Lankan Star

Race 4:
HIGHTAIL (1) First up from a break. Did a good job when winning two runs back at Randwick. One of the main dangers. BORN A WARRIOR (6) Made considerable ground when 3rd last start at this course and was on debut last time. Jockey Tommy Berry and trainer Michael Hawkes Wayne Hawkes John Hawkes must be respected as a team. Can feature here. COSMIC FORCE (2) Scored a victory three runs back at Newcastle and jockey James Mcdonald is a plus. Should jump out and bowl along. Can go on with it. FARETTI (8) Was average finishing 6th last run around here but fitter for debut run. Possesses the talent and has some chance.
Selections: 1 Hightail, 6 Born A Warrior, 2 Cosmic Force, 8 Faretti

Race 5:
VERRY ELLEEGANT (11) Dashed home into 2nd last run at Flemington and always seems to find the line well. Ready to win. ARISTIA (6) Second up. Was first to greet the judge when winning two runs back at Flemington and suited by the weight drop. Likely threat. ZALATTE (12) Second up from a break. Won narrowly two runs back at Randwick. Has scope so do not ignore. MIZZY (9) Fought on well to win two runs back at Canterbury. Likely to be well placed early. Use betting as a guide.
Selections: 11 Verry Elleegant, 6 Aristia, 12 Zalatte, 9 Mizzy

Race 6:
GOATHLAND (11) Having second run back from a spell. Fought on well to win last start at Randwick but rising in class. Likely threat. AMBITIOUS (12) Second up from a spell. Slipped back to finish 9th last run at Caulfield but will appreciate the drop in weight. Worth a ticket here. LIBRAN (5) Second up from a break. Flew home into 3rd three runs back at Flemington and strong form at this distance. Worth a ticket here. SAMADOUBT (10) Got the prize when winning last start at Canberra and very competitive this preparation. Has good tactical speed and will be nicely positioned. Chance for exotics punters.
Selections: 11 Goathland, 12 Ambitious, 5 Libran, 10 Samadoubt

Race 7:
I AM SERIOUS (11) Classy mare who has missed a place only once in 16 starts. Will make her presence known. JAMAICAN RAIN (17) Racing well of late and will benefit from the weight drop. Live winning chance. OREGON’S DAY (5) Too good last start and will take improvement from that run. Up to these. ALASSIO (6) Should find the lead comfortably from the soft barrier. Will give them something to chase down.
Selections: 11 I Am Serious, 17 Jamaican Rain, 5 Oregon’s Day, 6 Alassio

Race 8:
LAND OF PLENTY (1) Snuck in a place when 3rd two runs back at Caulfield and has been racing in stronger company. Has a nice turn of foot. Could go well. FIFTY STARS (3) Game effort to win last time at Flemington. Worth a ticket here. DREAMFORCE (2) Third up. Finished on top last time at Randwick and has plenty of early speed. Warrants a bet. SEAWAY (11) Did a good job when winning last start at the track and third up from a spell. Going well this preparation winning 2 from as many attempts. Genuine threat.
Selections: 1 Land Of Plenty, 3 Fifty Stars, 2 Dreamforce, 11 Seaway

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 2:
Plentiful speed over the 1100m. 3, 4, 7, 9 the most likely relegating the likes of JUNGLIZED to a midfield position (or camping wide. If we were assured of Soft 5 I would declare TREKKING the best of the day but Soft 5 is something we are unlikely to be racing on. His fresh runs include two wins, a 2nd to Trapeze Artist, a 3rd to Menari and a half length 4th in good company as well. Trials have been excellent. I trust him to Soft 6 but beyond that start to lose my confidence not just about him but the race as a whole.
Selections: 5. Trekking, 4. Easy Eddie, 10. Junglized, 1. Music Magnate

Race 3:
7 and 6 can lead 10, 12 (and perhaps 16 if here). LANKAN STAR and ATHIRI are both very likable out of the Blue Diamond but both are offered very different draws today than they had in that race. ATHIRI returns to the venue where she made such an impression on debut and if she can see clear at the right time will be hard to hold out, so long as he handles the conditions which are unknown to her bot on raceday at the trials. I’m prepared to take a (small) gamble that she will.
Selections: 4. Athiri, 5. Amercement, 2. Lankan Star, 1. Probabeel

Race 4:
The Snowdens with 5 of the 14 runners and my thought is that COSMIC FORCE is the best of them. Honest in defeat on Heavy ground when resuming then not disgraced finishing 2nd to Microphone in the Skyline. That ranks as solid form for this and I fancy McDonald can cross him into a relatively handy position. HIGHTAIL also proven on rain-affected and has been freshened. Won a Canterbury trial well enough recently and expect he can run into the finish. Where to in the run for YULONG SAVINGS?
Selections: 2. Cosmic Force, 1. Hightail, 4. Yulong Savings, 6. Born A Warrior

Race 5:
Mostly fillies here and I would expect one of them to be winning. Several of them (8, 13, 14, 15, 16) also accepted for Friday’s Keith Nolan Classic at Kembla so we will probably cop some scratchings (waiting on that weather to do its thing). 16 can lead if here, otherwise 2 or 8, maybe even 9 might have to be called upon. VERRY ELLEEGANT is all class and it was great to see her return to the level she demonstrated in her first campaign. So long as she doesn’t get buried away at the crucial time I expect her to burst through and do the job. ZALATTE closed out pleasingly first-up as well and presents as a threat.
Selections: 11. Verry Elleegant, 12. Zalatte, 6. Aristia, 13. Scarlet Dream

Race 6:
SAMADOUBT freshly proven at 2000m and looks the obvious leader here as well. 11, 12 and 13 might be next in line. GALLIC CHIEFTAIN holds a nomination for Sunday in Victoria (Yarra Valley Cup) but I hope they send him to contest this. His return was outstanding and 2nd-up last prep he ran a lip 2nd to The Taj Mahal over 2040m. Handles soft ground and the draw gives Jye McNeil some options of settling. Like him a lot to run top three.
Selections: 10. Samadoubt, 3. Red Cardinal, 1. Patrick Erin

Race 7:
What an outstanding collection of fillies and mares we have here. An awesome edition of an always fascinating race. 21 can lead but she needs a couple of scratchings to make her way in. If that doesn’t happen look for 9 and 6 to cross up together. I am mainly concentrating on I AM SERIOUS if the rain really comes down. You could argue maybe slightly unlucky to go down first-up. This is her biggest challenge but she’s at that point in her career when she should put her hand up. DIXIE BLOSSOMS has been there/done that but enjoys wet and trails nicely here. OREGON’S DAY has avoided any sort of rain-affected for the last 18 months. NOIRE the overs perhaps.
Selections: 11. I Am Serious, 2. Dixie Blossoms, 5. Oregon’s Day, 8. Noire

Race 8:
15 kicks out and can lead from DREAMFORCE crossing over. Again conditions crucial here. LAND OF PLENTY and DREAMFORCE handle the wet to a point but if it’s nice and slushy by now there are queries. PLENTY’s only Heavy run was in the Guineas here two years ago and it was absolute bog that day. Has won on Soft 6 more recently and this will prove some sort of compensation for not getting a guernsey in the All Star Mile. Michael Rodd is here to ride! DREAMFORCE loves winning but I would be wary about him on Soft 7 or worse. Promote FIFTY STARS if we end up Heavy and perhaps SEAWAY also.
Selections: 1. Land Of Plenty, 2. Dreamforce, 3. Fifty Stars, 4. Widgee Turf

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 2:
TREKKING Won the Testa Rossa Stakes at Caulfield in the Spring. Has trialled nicely on two occasions leading into this and looks ready to go fresh and worth noting he is twice a winner first-up. SHE KNOWS Has struggled in three runs this preparation but is capable of improving sharply. EASY EDDIE Won successive races at Warwick Farm and Kensington and was a close second in the Takeover Target at Gosford before a let-up. Resumes and has had the benefit of a trial and is a winning chance. ALL OVER BOSANOVA Led all the way to win the Camarena Quality at Canberra last start and she will take plenty of running down here.

Race 3:
ATHIRI Was a Rosehill winner in her only first preparation run and has been close-up in her two runs this time including a fourth in the Blue Diamond Stakes last start when just over a length from the winner. PROBABEEL Is a New Zealand Filly who has won her last three. This is her toughest test to date but it is hard to knock the winning form. KIAMICHI Had a Rosehill win on debut and a runner-up finish in two first preparation runs before finishing on the placegetters heels in the Sweet Embrace resuming. Still has scope for improvement second-up and goes in all the exotics. LANKAN STAR Hit the line strongly when a half-length second in the Blue Diamond last start and just needs a touch of luck from the wide gate to be in the finish again.

Race 4:
HIGHTAIL Won two from four in his first preparation and did finish third in the Magic Millions before a let-up. Won a Canterbury trial in the interim and looks ready to go fresh. YULONG SAVINGS Was an easy Bendigo winner on debut before gaining second on protest at Flemington last start. Looks to have some upside and shouldn’t be under-estimated. COSMIC FORCE Was a Newcastle maiden winner in his first preparation and has finished runner-up in the Lonhro Plate and Skyline Stakes in his two runs this time in. Only needs even luck in running from the gate to be in the finish again. LUBUK Looks to be on the improve and is worth including in the wider exotics.

Race 5:
VERRY ELLEEGANT Won the Ethereal Stakes at Caulfield in the Spring and hit the line strongly when runner-up in the Vanity resuming at Flemington last start. She’s right in play with the run under her belt. ARISTIA Won the Wakeful and The Oaks in successive races before spelling and looks to have returned in good order finishing third in the Frances Tressady at Flemington resuming. She’s right in the mix fitter second-up. SEABROOK Didn’t get the clearest of runs in the straight resuming in the Surround last start. Only needs even luck in running here to be in the finish fitter second-up. MIZZY Battled on strongly when a half-length fourth in the Surround Stakes at Randwick last start. Will be right on speed and will be in the race for a long way.

Race 6:
BRIMHAM ROCKS Has been well beaten both runs this time in but did finish runner-up in the Kingston Town Stakes third-up last campaign and a sharp improvement wouldn’t surprise. RED CARDINAL Was most impressive with a strong finishing win in the Parramatta Cup resuming last start. Generally holds his form second-up and if that’s the case here will take a power of beating. AUVRAY Improved considerably at his second run back from a break finishing just over two-lengths from the winner in the Randwick City Stakes last start. Any further improvement here would see him right in the finish. AMBITIOUS Was well beaten at Caulfield but a sharp improvement second-up wouldn’t surprise.

Race 7:
FIESTA Was a Warwick Farm winner resuming two back before finishing on the placegetters heels in the Surround Stakes last start. Rates as one of the key chances. I AM SERIOUS Hit the line strongly to just miss in the Millie Fox resuming. She is one of the most consistent mares around and will be in the finish again. JAMAICAN RAIN Has won three of last four and is chasing back to back wins after a victory in the Mannerism at Caulfield last start. I wouldn’t be under-estimating her. EL DORADO DREAMING Won the Sires at Randwick as a three-year-old and nothing wrong with her two runs this time in including a close third in the Surround last start and that form held up in the Randwick Guineas. She’s right in play.

Race 8:
FIFTY STARS Has won seven from 11 and returned to winning form with a strong win in the Blamey at Flemington last start. Looks set to get a soft run in transit from the gate and rates as the one to beat again. SEAWAY Is unbeaten in two runs this preparation winning successive races at Rosehill. This is his toughest test to date but looks up to the task down in the weights. DYSLEXIC Made up plenty of ground when a length and a half fourth in the Guy Walter resuming last start. Expecting her to be more forward in the run here and worth noting she won second-up last preparation DREAMFORCE Had no luck in the Southern Cross resuming two back before a strong win in the Liverpool City Cup last start. Only needs a touch of luck from the awkward gate to be a winning chance again.
