Race 5: Pippie
Race 6: Sikandarabad, saving on Super Titus
Race 7: Begood Toya Mother

BetEasy – Race Synopsis:

Race 5:
PIPPIE (4) has the pace to get control of this from the front and she is quick enough to keep them from snapping at her heels and worrying her. Finds a rhythm, she clearly works well with Melham, and she runs the sort of time that makes her really hard to catch in this class. TOFANE (11) could be a sharp improver. Wrong race fresh but strong home to win last time and that can be the run that brings her to her top now. DAWN DAWN (10) is off a win and has a strong chance while her stablemate BELLA MARTINI (8) has some fantastic ratings for this and is a chance fresh. EMBRACE ME (3) did enough behind Pippie last time to be considered.

Race 6:
SUPER TITUS (11) won the lead up and did it in good style. Looks to have plenty more to come based on that win and 2000m is going to be ideal in what is no doubt an early spring target for him. Can stamp his ticket to the Caulfield Cup. Stablemate SIKANDARABAD (5) fits a similar mould. Third up and ready to peak out to 2000m off a pair of very solid efforts. Liked the latest and the betting edge may well sit with him. WOLFE (14) was a fail on the heavy last time but if the rain stays away here he can quickly bounce back. Caulfield should suit him on speed. Terrific return from SUPERNOVA (15) and he can come here and run well on the back of that. STEEL PRINCE (4) also arrives off a strong return. Warmed right up late there and 2000m is going to suit ideally now.

Race 7:
BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER (14) worked hard in the run in the Memsie last time. That was a high pressure Group 1 and he stood up well. Back to a handicap now and he tumbles to the minimum. Set for the race and it looks like they have got it right. Top pick. AMPHITRITE (12) ran really well first up. Closed strongly and if the leaders do crumble here she looks the best placed to sweep through and pick up the pieces. SO SI BON (5) has been fantastic in two runs this prep and rates highly on his Memsie effort. WIDGEE TURF (8) and DESPATCH (3) are good 1400m horses that need to be given hopes.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 5:
SPEED: 4 looks leader. 5, 12, 13 handy. Tough to tip against PIPPIE, who’s unbeaten in the prep. 1200m certainly didn’t stop her here last time leading into that strong headwind. Spanish Whisper and Fidelia emerged from the race to run very well last week. DIVINE QUALITY was a brilliant winner fresh last Spring making G1 winner Booker look second rate. VICTORY KINGDOM was very good fresh chasing a hot speed then forget MV. GREY SHADOW ran by her here fresh. TOFANE was back to her best last time winning despite a wide run and ran fastest last 200m all day. DAWN DAWN and EMBRACE ME hopes.
Selections: 4. Pippie, 2. Divine Quality, 11. Tofane

Race 6:
SPEED: 16,14 from 13 with maybe 4 sitting closer? Tipped SIKANDARABAD in a G2 at WFA last time and thought he was terrific from back and wide leaving their run very late, he did zoom home 4th-fastest last 200m of the day. SUPER TITUS was wide all way yet still beat ETYMOLOGY (good with blinkers back on) and STEEL PRINCE (Fitter now!). WOLFE can hit back here on drier. SUPERNOVA is promising, he made up a stack of ground fresh and has GALLIC CHIEFTAIN form. BRIMHAM ROCKS best blowout?
Selections: 5. Sikandarabad, 11. Super Titus, 4. Steel Prince, 9. Etymology

Race 7:
SPEED: 14, 6, 15 with 3, 11 & 9, 13 handy. BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER set a strong speed in the Memsie on a tough day for leaders. His first 600m was some 7.5L above the G1 average and he stayed on (slower) inside lanes. In short, he ran terrific and now plummets 7kg into a handicap. SO SI BON ran by him there and crossed the line with star mare Alizee. DESPATCH chased said strong speed and ran well also. AMPHITRITE was terrific fresh behind the slick Pippie, In mostly an on-pace race, she was clearly race-fastest home. She was 2.6 lengths off Mystic Journey second up last prep. 1, 9, 13, 15 chances.
Selections: 14. Begood Toya Mother, 12. Amphitrite, 5. So Si Bon, 15. Age Of Chivalry

3. So Si Bon (4 stars)

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 5:
PIPPIE (4) Solid effort when winning last run at this track and expecting to settle positively. Flying this preparation with 3 wins from 3 runs. Is in good order and can run well here. DAWN DAWN (10) Having third run back from a spell. Displayed potential when winning last time at this track and strong performer at this trip. One of the major hopes. ANGELIC RULER (6) Resumes from a spell. Kept finding the line when 2nd last start at Moonee Valley but will be dropping in distance here. Place wouldn’t shock. TOFANE (11) Got the upper hand late when winning last run at Moonee Valley and third up from a spell. Very tidy this preparation winning 1 from 2 attempts. Could run into the placings.

Race 6:
SUPER TITUS (11) Chimed in with a win last run here and has a good draw. Big danger. SIKANDARABAD (5) Generally strong third up. Ended up 3.4L behind the winner at Moonee Valley last start but dropping in class. Expected to fight out the finish. WOLFE (14) Left nothing to chance when winning two runs back at Randwick and shows good early pace. Respect. STEEL PRINCE (4) Second up from a break. Was fighting out the finish when winning two runs back at Flemington. Has the ability to figure.

Race 7:
BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER (14) Has gone through his grade in good fashion. Can easily bring up a maiden G1 victory today. AMPHITRITE (12) Made up good ground in the Cockram Stakes. Will be spotting the leaders a start but can finish off well. AGE OF CHIVALRY (15) Has won last two in style. Will be sent forward with the light weight, each way. SO SI BON (5) Another big effort in the Memsie Stakes last start. Not out of this.

BetEasy – Race Synopsis:

Race 4:
LIBERTINI (1) was dynamite fresh before coming off that performance last start when just doing enough to gun down Villami. Gets out beyond 1200m for the first time and gets on to a heavy track for the first time. Her mum loved it and the fact she lines up suggests they are confident she will handle it. All class and should prove hard to beat. FUNSTAR (5) couldn’t reel in Yao Dash first up, but her performance still held plenty of merit and she should improve sharply with that run under the belt. Already a heavy track winner and looms as a major threat. FLIT (4) was very good behind Libertini first up and like the fact she comes here fresh (28 days). Should relish the step up in trip and has to be respected. ANAHEED (2) eats the mud and appears the next in line.

Race 5:
CASCADIAN (7) really caught the eye late first up when working home strongly to finish a close fifth behind Deprive. Open to sharp improvement off the back of that and like the fact he has been kept fresh (28 days). Sure to appreciate the step up in trip and has drawn to settle a lot closer. Needs to win to get into the Epsom, so suspect he’ll be fairly close to his top. KOLDING (5) was the big flashing light run first up when he had no luck at a vital stage. Another open to good improvement and looms as a major threat. AVANTAGE (3) was solid enough first up and the booking of JMac is a decent push. Talented mare and rates highly on best form. STAR OF THE SEAS (6) should relish the conditions, next best.

Race 6:
PIERATA (3) really impressed first up when closing very well over an unsuitable trip. Sure to appreciate the step up in trip and his first up effort suggests he is back better than ever. If that’s the case he should take plenty of beating on the heavy track. CLASSIQUE LEGEND (6) was very impressive in his maiden preparation, though he’s certainly been thrown to the wolves here. Nowhere to hide, but suspect he measures right up. REDZEL (2) held them all off first up and imagine he’ll get a similar run here from the rails draw. How do you knock him? OSBORNE BULLS (4) should be very strong late.

Race 7:
AVILIUS (2) has been solid enough in both runs back this time in and should be right at his peak racing third up. Sure to relish the conditions on offer and suspect this has always been the first Grand Final. McEvoy sticks and with a fair track on offer, he should prove very hard to beat. HAPPY CLAPPER (1) was there to win first up and while unable to, he still did enough and you just have to respect his record at this C&D. It’s first class! VERRY ELLEEGANT (11) never got into it first up, but gets conditions to suit here and expecting her to improve sharply. DREAMFORCE (3) went like a bomb fresh, next best.

Race 8:
COME PLAY WITH ME (11) was very good in his debut for the Chris Waller stable, sticking on well to finish second behind Wu Gok. Form has already been franked and hard to ignore his dominant display over Gatting two back. Not sure he loves the heavy, but should appreciate the step up in trip. JMac sticks and he should prove hard to beat. BIG DUKE (10) creates plenty of interest fresh with Nash booked. Hasn’t won in over 700 days, but gets conditions to suit and certainly races well at Randwick. FINCHE (4) did enough first up and will no doubt relish the step up in trip. McEvoy a key booking and he looms as a major threat. GIRL TUESDAY (16) is simply airborne this preparation, next best.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 4:
Interesting pace setup here for the fillies. LIBERTINI draws wide and for her first time to 1400m perhaps she might get busy and try to cross up (presuming ANAHEED our leader?). She did that at Scone over 1100m in her first prep so I fancy a repeat of that approach is preferable to camping back and wide, especially after she struggled to shake Villami last start. Track pattern may have been a factor in the narrowness of that victory but I still think she would want to keep things relatively simple here if possible. She settles well in her races. FLIT draws the rail. Is she capable of being a bit closer? LET IT POUR would be a decent thing in a Maiden wouldn’t she.
Selections: 1. Libertini, 4. Flit, 6. Let It Pour, 3. Probabeel

Race 5:
Not exactly loaded up with high speed. 2, 5 and 9 also accepted for the G3 Cameron at Newcastle on Friday. AVANTAGE appears the go-to leader, with 4 and 12 setting up next in line. CASCADIAN was terrific first-up out here. Coming from the back there, I would expect this chestnut with the big white blaze will have the chance set up a bit closer today and be very much suited by the extra furlong. Needs to handle the going of course but if he can do that then look out. He has been back for a lovely trial (sat last, lovely home) and he is ready to make an impact now. STAR OF THE SEAS missed top three for the first time first-up in the Tramway but only just. 3 from 3 on Heavy so is entitled to high respect here.
Selections: 7. Cascadian, 6. Star Of The Seas, 3. Avantage, 5. Kolding

Race 6:
Wow. What an awesome race! Will the Everest be any better than this? (Add at least Arcadia Queen so the answer is yes, clearly, but $13.5M better??) REDZEL can lead again and this time will be fully expected to. 9 and 11 sit closest? Maybe 7? On these conditions I can’t see a compelling reason to doubt REDZEL backing up. Many will look to the way the track was playing a fortnight ago though and have PIERATA running past him this time. I’m not here to say he can’t. OSBORNE BULLS won’t run poorly; he never has before. CLASSIQUE LEGEND is expected to take this step into the big time. He does seem to ooze quality. SANTA ANA LANE has improved with a run his last few preps.
Selections: 2. Redzel, 3. Pierata, 4. Osborne Bulls, 6. Classique Legend

Race 7:
4 and 3 the two that will fight for the front. I wanted (indeed, still want) to stick with HAPPY CLAPPER here and I will have to make him a winner for me but as he is a 9YO that has avoided Heavy tracks for the last two years the rainfall has me leaning to two that seem to love this ground very much as a part of who they are. AVILIUS has been thwarted by SAMADOUBT in both runs back but he won back-to-back last prep on ground of this nature. So too did VERRY ELLEEGANT so we should expect a few lengths worth of improvement from her. DREAMFORCE has had 21 of his 26 starts on Good ground but his most recent tries on rain-affected won’t put you off!
Selections: 2. Avilius, 11. Verry Elleegant, 1. Happy Clapper, 3. Dreamforce

Race 8:
4, 9, 11 and 13 could be the way this falls in running. Yes, the WA form had a bit of an impact last week. In COME PLAY WITH ME, we have a horse that clearly beat Makybe Diva winner Gatting back in July but couldn’t quite deal with Wu Gok coming over here after a 7 week let-up. (To be fair, there aren’t too many that can deal with Wu Gok on Heavy ground.) Expect him well liked here to go one better. CARZOFF through the same race obviously and he chooses this option rather than aim for back-to-back Newcastle Cup wins. (3, 5, 8, 10, 15, 19 from this have also accepted for the Cup on Friday.)
Selections: 11. Come Play With Me, 6. Carzoff, 18. Supernova, 17. Scarlet Dream

Betfair – Race Selections:

Ladbrokes – Race Comments:

Race 4:
LIBERTINI (1) Looks very sharp this preparation with 2 wins from as many starts and won’t be far away during the run. Brave effort to win last start here. Has plenty of claims. FUNSTAR (5) Having second run back from a spell. Brave effort to win two runs back around here but up against stronger competition here. Should be very competitive and is a genuine threat. FLIT (4) Having second run back from a break. Did enough to win three runs back at Flemington and will be hitting the line strongly. Could be a value selection. ANAHEED (2) Third up. Was fighting out the finish when winning three runs back at this course. Can threaten if right today.

Race 5:
CASCADIAN (7) Second up from a spell. Good performance to run into 2nd three runs back at Deauville. Sure to be thereabouts again. AVANTAGE (3) Proven record when second up with 2 wins from 3 starts. Solid effort when winning three runs back at Rosehill and likely to be well placed early. Worth a ticket here. KOLDING (5) Second up. Game effort to win two runs back at Eagle Farm and will appreciate the drop in grade. Serious player. DESERT LORD (12) Second up from a spell. Won by a big margin two runs back at Rosehill and ideal trip as proven previously. Can give this a shake.

Race 6:
CLASSIQUE LEGEND (6) Resuming from a break. Solid win last time at the track but up against stronger competition today. Has the ability to figure. PIERATA (3) Having second run back from a spell. Brave effort to win two runs back at this track. Can get the job done. REDZEL (2) Was fighting out the finish when winning last run at this venue and shows good early pace. Among better hopes. OSBORNE BULLS (4) First up specialist with 3 wins from 4 attempts. Flashed home late into 2nd last start at Doomben and drops back to a suitable grade. One of the major players.

Race 7:
AVILIUS (2) Races well third up winning 2 from 4 starts. Needs speed on but will be finishing strongly. HAPPY CLAPPER (1) Goes well in these conditions and has drawn well. Winning claims. DREAMFORCE (3) Impressed first up when winning by a margin. Drawn perfectly and worth an each-way ticket. SAMADOUBT (4) Racing in career best form. Has work to do from the wide gate but can win again.

Race 8:
COME PLAY WITH ME (11) Finished on top two runs back at Belmont and will be well suited at the trip. Has genuine claims in this race. FINCHE (4) Second up from a spell. Nice show when placing 3rd three runs back at Geelong and gets a reduction in weight. Worth consideration. SUPERNOVA (18) Got the prize when winning three runs back at Rosehill and finishes off strongly. Maybe for the trifectas and a marginal hope. GIRL TUESDAY (16) Chimed in with a win two runs back here and should get going late. Each way appeal.
