New Zealand Breakers

Result Last Round- The Taipans beat United, 93-86.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- Carins 20-26, 27-18, 22-13, 24-29.

Top Three Performers-

Oliver 26 PTS, 13 REB, 1 AS and 4 BL.

Newbill 19 PTS, 3 REB and 2 AS.

Machado 17 PTS. 4 REB. 10 AS and 2 ST.

Result Last Round- New Zealand beat Illawarra, 91-79.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- New Zealand 28-19, 22-19, 19-21 and 22-20.

Top Three Performers-

Henry 25 PTS, 2 REB, 3 AS, 2 ST and 1 BL.

Delany 20 PTS, 9 REB, 1 AS and 1 ST.

Hampton 12 PTS, 5 REB and 2 AS.

The Deciding Factor- The Breakers, despite having put their off-court issues behind them, still seem to have some dysfunction in and around the club, hence their recently poor results. And they only just snapped that last round with their 12 point win over a down and out Illawarra side. Cairns on the other hand, are now just a single win of a finals spot. Quite a credible achievement for a side of their stature and with their limited finances. And they’ve really gotten their men to try and buy into what their building this season. Last round it was on full display as 4/5 starters scored in double-figures in the upset 7 point W over Melbourne. Oliver scored 26, Newbill had 19, Machado had 17 and Deng scored 15. Those two factors should see them over the line against the Breakers.

Betting tip: Pick Cairns to win at $1.61 (UniBet)

Perth Wildcats v Sydney Kings

Sydney Kings

Result Last Round- Perth lost to Adelaide, 99-98.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- Perth 25-29, 17-29, 13-23 and 33-18.

Top Three Performers-

Cotton 18 PTS, FIVE REB and 3 AS.

White 13 PTS, 4 REB and 3 AS.

Wagstaff 13 PTS, 6 REB and 4 AS.

Result Last Round- Sydney beat Melbourne, 111-101.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- Kings 25-25, 30-25, 31-28 and 15-23.

Top Three Performers-

Ware 27 PTS, 2 REB and 5 AS.

Tate 25 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AS and 1 ST.

Taylor 12 PTS, 1 REB, 3 AS, 2 ST and 1 BL.

The Deciding Factor- The only side that the Kings hadn’t beaten this campaign, prior to last round, was Melbourne United and they took care of that with ease last round in the commanding 10 point victory. Melbourne were their bogey side and they beat them. They overcame all the mental and physical obstacles for their rousing W at Qudos Bank Arena. Ware showed out against his former side, as he and Tate combined for a HUUUGE 52 points! Sydney now have 11 wins from 12 matches played this season and are just one win away from equaling their best ever start to an NBL season. Simply put, with star-power like Ware and Tate on the team and with the start they’ve had, they’ll be to good and to strong for last seasons champs on this occasion.

Betting tip: Pick Sydney to win at $1.85 (UniBet)

Melbourne United

Melbourne United v Adelaide 36ers

Adelaide 36ers

Result Last Round- Melbourne went down to Sydney, 111-101.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- United 25-35, 25-30, 28-31 and 23-15.

Top Three Performers-

Trimble 32 PTS, 2 REB, 4 AS and 2 ST.

Goulding 18 PTS, 3 REB, 2 AS and 1 ST.

Long 13 PTS, 1 REB, 1 AS and 2 BL.

Result Last Round- 36ers beat the Wildcats, 99-98.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- 36ers 29-25, 29-17, 23-13 and 18-33.

Top Three Performers-

Johnson 29 PTS, 17 REB, 2 AS and 1 ST.

Randle 20 PTS, 1 REB, 8 AS and 1 ST.

Moore 12 PTS, 3 REB and 4 AS.

The Deciding Factor- Melbourne went down to Cairns for the 2nd time this season, in last rounds sad and sorry 7 point loss. A few other underdog teams this season have also claimed similar scalps over them as well. Melbourne’s up and down season currently sees them sitting in 4th on the ladder with 7 wins from 13 matches played. The 36ers are just one win of them and Cairns and Brisbane, just the two each. Suffice to say their are a lot of close teams behind United who are catching up to them quickly. United going 0/2 last round also, could prove to be a massive defining factor in the eventual outcome of their season. Adelaide just came of a win over Perth. Put two and two together, it’s clear to see that behind Johnson, Randle & Co, that Adelaide might just upset another star-side on this occasion.

Betting tip: Pick Adelaide to win at $2.98 (BetEasy)

Brisbane Bullets

Brisbane Bullets v Illawarra Hawks

View a detailed form guide for Brisbane v Illawarra

Illawarra Hawks

Result Last Round- Brisbane lost to South East Melbourne, 110-95.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- Brisbane 31-35, 30-18, 18-31 and 16-26.

Top Three Performers-

Cadee 15 PTS

Patterson 14 PTS, 3 REB, 8 AS and 5 ST.

Sobey 14 PTS, 2 REB and 2 AS.

Result Last Round- Hawks went down to the Breakers, 91-79.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- Hawks 19-28, 19,22, 21-19 and 20-22.

Top Three Performers-

Ball 25 PTS, 12 REB, 10 AS and 1 ST.

Andersen 15 PTS, 1 REB and 1 AS.

Dech 11 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AS and 4 ST.

The Deciding Factor- Both these sides are simply crap this season and that’s honestly the most polite way of putting it. For Brisbane, while still in and about finals contention, given the talent they boast e.g. Patterson, Sobey, Cadee, etc, they should be doing a lot better then that of what they currently are. And for the Hawks, they’re basically just a way for LaMelo Ball to improve his draft-stock to as high as possible. Nothing more and nothing less. A W to either side would be massive for them, but seeing as neither could realistically speaking play Finals Basketball this season, the match also doesn’t really matter as it’s just a battle of the NBL’s bottom-feeders. Look for individual talent such as the previously-mentioned Ball, Patterson, etc to define the outcome of this one.

Betting tip: Pick Brisbane to win at $1.42 (Bet365)

S.E. Melbourne Phoenix

S.E. Melbourne Phoenix v Perth Wildcats

Perth Wildcats

Result Last Round- SEM beat Brisbane, 110-95.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- SEM 35-31, 18-30, 31-18 and 26-16.

Top Three Performers-

Madgen 23 PTS, 3 REB, 3 AS and 1 ST.

Creek 19 PTS, 7 REB, 4 AS, 1 ST and 1 BL.

Roberson 17 PTS, 1 REB, 6 AS and 2 ST.

The Deciding Factor- In Perth’s disappointing and confusing 11 point loss to Adelaide last round, one man who will feel most pissed of about the result would’ve been Bryce Cotton. The former Jazz-man shot just 7/16 from the court, good for just 43.8%. He also hit just 3/9 from beyond the arc, good for 33.3%. OUCH! He also converted only 1/2 FT’S. This was a poor effort from him all-round and one that he will look to rectify immediately. And un-fortunately for SEM, they will prove to be his latest victims. Whenever he shoots poorly, Perth tend to lose, his is quite literally the blood of this team and they ride or die with him. Look for him to get 20+ points in a rebound Wildcats victory.

Betting tip: Pick Perth to win at $2.31 (BetFair)

Sydney Kings

Sydney Kings v Cairns Taipans

5pm AEDT
View a detailed form guide for Sydney v Cairns

Cairns Taipans

Result Last Round- Sydney beat Melbourne, 111-101.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- Kings 25-25, 30-25, 31-28 and 15-23.

Top Three Performers-

Ware 27 PTS, 2 REB and 5 AS.

Tate 25 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AS and 1 ST.

Taylor 12 PTS, 1 REB, 3 AS, 2 ST and 1 BL.

The Deciding Factor- Bruce, Taylor and Kicket. One is a veteran NBL player having arguably his greatest ever season. The next was a dude who was cut from the 36ers to make way for Jerome Randle’s return to the club. And the third is another veteran who’s been hitting James Harden esque shots from deep this season. Bruce scored eight last round, Taylor 12 and Kickert was a perfect 4/4 from the line. Oh and btw, I forgot to mention that all three of these men are bench players, not starters! The Kings bench, which also includes Moller and Taylor should be a massive contributing factor as to why Sydney beat Cairns this round. As good as the Kings starters are, the bench is freaking awesome for them to.

Betting tip: Pick Sydney to win at $1.30 (Bet365, BlueBet, SportsBet, UniBet)

New Zealand Breakers

New Zealand Breakers v Brisbane Bullets

View a detailed form guide for New Zealand v Brisbane

Brisbane Bullets

Result Last Round- New Zealand beat Illawarra, 91-79.

Quarter By Quarter Scores- New Zealand 28-19, 22-19, 19-21 and 22-20.

Top Three Performers-

Henry 25 PTS, 2 REB, 3 AS, 2 ST and 1 BL.

Delany 20 PTS, 9 REB, 1 AS and 1 ST.

Hampton 12 PTS, 5 REB and 2 AS.

The Deciding Factor- Neither side has been doing all that great this season. But NZ and Brisbane, as of lately, appear to be trending in the opposite direction. The Breakers won by 12 last round, the Bullets in comparison lost by 15. People want Brisbane import players, bar Patterson to be cut. People called out Brisbane on social media last round for their horrific effort against SEM. Rumors of Brisbane replacing their coach have also been going around. It’s been a bit of a downfall post their long-awaited playoffs appearance last season. Neither side is great, hence their lowly ladder positions, but at the end of the day, whether it’s decide in four quarters, or five OT periods, or anything else, somebody’s still got to get a W and somebody’s still got to get an L. The Breakers ain’t getting the L.

Betting tip: Pick NZ to win at $1.80 (BetEasy)
