Manly United

Manly United FC vs Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC

7:30 PM / FRI 2 OCT
Cromer Park

Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC

Last RD- Manly have won just twice from nine attempts so far this year, as they sit in 8th on the ladder. For Mt Druitt, they’re exactly the same, as they sit in 10th on the ladder. Manly has a -2GD and Mt Duitt, a -10GD. Manly drew 1-1 with Marconi last Saturday afternoon, at Marconi Stadium NO.1, in what was a close and entertaining encounter. As for the Rangers, they were anything but their namesake, as they were thrashed 5 goals to 0 by Sydney FC. The onslaught occurred at Popondetta Park NO.1, last Saturday evening. In Manly’s clash, they conceded a goal through Jesic. But they also got one through Cholakian. And their only caution of the game came in the 86th minute, that being via a yellow to Paull. For Mt Druitt, they leaked three to Fay and a double to Swibel. They received yellows in the 67th min to Monahan-Vaiika, the 71st min to Roberts and in the 83rd min to Gould.

Key Stats- Manly United have scored 11 goals this season and leaked 13. For the Rangers, they have produced 10 and conceded 20. That is the = worst in the NPL along with APIA Leichardt.

Key Player- Brendan Cholakian. Loyalty, toughness and skill, are just a few key words you could use to describe him as both a player and as a person. Manly’s captain is a long-serving veteran of the club and somebody who wears the crest each week with pride and goes out to make his fans and his club proud. He has seen Manly change all around him over the years, yet he has been the one constant within the club. And a damn good one at that! He is the NPL’s version of an ‘Alfie’ or a Fornaroli. Simply put, the man scores goals in his sleep. He constantly gets Manly into good attacking positions and on the campaign, he’s got four strikes to his name. Manly United should come through here with the W and when they do, expect him to be on the goal-scorers list, with 1 or 2 to his name!

Betting Tips- pick Manly United to win at $1.90 (bet365)

Sydney FC

Sydney FC vs Woolongong Wolves FC

6:30 PM / SUN 4 OCT
Ilinden Sports Centre

Woolongong Wolves FC

Last RD- Sydney FC currently sit in 5th position on the ladder with 5 wins from 9 games. Woolongong reside in 2nd with 6/9. Sydney have scored 20 goals and leaked 15. The Wolves are 15 and 9 respectively. Whilst the Sky Blues sit on 16 points, the Wolves are 2 ahead, on 18 points. These two raring sides are very closely matched! Sydney turned it on in style last round, as they killed Mt Druitt, 5-0. As for Woolongong, they won a close one against the Wanderers 1-0. The Sky Blues goals at Popondetta Park NO.1, came through a massive three to Fay and two converted spot-kicks to Swibel. The onslaught was simply brilliant stuff from them! Meanwhile they conceded zero cards/cautions throughout the game. As for the Wolves, their sole goal at Albert Butler Memorial Park, came via Bingham. Whilst their sole caution was to Madden. In comparison, the Wanderers conceded three. If the last round is anything to go of, then this is bound to be one hell of a game!

Key Stats- From their past five clashes Sydney have won twice, lost twice and drawn once. For Woolongong, they have won on three occasions and lost on two occasions. Both sides like a win and both sides also have a lot to play for in this clash!

Key Player- Lachlan Scott. The former Wanderer in the A-League has found the back of the net four times for the Wolves so far this new season. And from 19 appearances in total, he’s found the back of the net on 12 occasions for Woolongong (according to Wikipedia). The man is a goal-scoring machine that the NPL simply cannot contain. He’s over here, he’s over there, man’s every damn where! And in a game that is expected to be as close as this one is, expect stars like him to ultimately make the difference in what should be a close Wolves win. The ex-Australian U’23’s and U’20’s international knows how to get things done when the match is in the balance. And ultimately his superstar power should help sway things in the Wolves favour. He’ll do what he does on Sunday! That’s for sure!

Betting Tips- pick Woolongong to win at $2.00 (bet365)

Other Betting Tips- pick the following sides to win their respective RD10 fixtures, Blacktown City to beat APIA Leichardt at $1.60 (bet365), Marconi to beat North Shore at $1.44 (bet365), Sydney Olympic to beat Western Sydney at $1.66 (bet365) and Rockdale to beat Sydney United at $2.30 (bet365).
