Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
REGARDSMAREE (7) Showed promise when winning last start at the track and gets some weight relief. Shows good finishing speed. Strong hope. MYSTERY SHOT (1) Fought on gamely when winning two runs back at this course and has plenty of early speed. Should go close. IMPERIAL LAD (9) Got the cash when winning two runs back at Sandown and won’t be far away during the run. Capable of getting into the money. MARCEL FROM MADRID (3) Flashed home late into 2nd last time at Flemington and displays good finishing speed. Betting is the best guide and has each way claims.

Race 2:
ARCADED (5) Gave nothing else a chance when winning last time at this track and was a debutant last start. Hard to dismiss. DECENT RAINE (8) Put in a competitive run when placing 2nd last time at Gawler and having second run today. One of the major players. TAYLA’S MOMENT (3) Kept running on late when 2nd last time at this venue but facing a stronger class. Likely threat. BIRD OF DUBAI (6) Second up. Made considerable ground when 2nd last run at Moonee Valley but up against stronger competition. One for the each way players.

Race 3:
GENERAL BEAU (1) Having second run back from a spell. Fought on well to win last time at this venue but facing a stronger class today. Will be pushing for a forward position early. Appears as a winning threat. JIGSAW (7) Comprehensive victory when winning last start at Geelong and having second career run. The one they all have to beat. ANAMOE (2) Resumes after a spell. Really dug deep when winning last time at Sandown but racing in stronger company today. Should take beating. EXTREME WARRIOR (3) Second up from a break. Ran on strongly when 2nd last time at this venue and gets a favourable barrier. Should go close.

Race 4:
AMISH BOY (2) Managed to place 2nd last run at Gold Coast and will be hitting the line strongly. Can go on with it. I’M THUNDERSTRUCK (9) Fought on gamely when winning last start around here and fitter for debut run. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. No shock to see a win. JET PROPULSION (4) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Was first to greet the judge when winning three runs back at Newcastle and won’t be far away during the run. Strong claims. POLAND (8) Resuming after spell. Won narrowly two runs back at Flemington. Genuine threat.

Race 5:
PINKHAM (10) Resumes from a spell. Chimed in with a win last run at Seymour and fitter for debut run. Will take beating today. LA MEXICANA (1) Having second run back from a spell. Game effort to win last run at this venue and expecting to settle positively. Could pose a threat and expected to go very close. SENSE OF HONOUR (6) Fresh after a break. Really dug deep when winning last time at Flemington and can save some energy from the gate. Can’t knock. AIDENSFIELD (5) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Good run when placing 2nd two runs back at this course and dropping in class. Should just about get the run of the race. Each way prospects.

Race 6:
NONCONFORMIST (2) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Brave effort to win two runs back at this track and should get going late. Among the major players. OVER EXPOSURE (4) Chimed in with a win last run at Flemington but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Likely to race off the speed. Worth consideration. BEST OF DAYS (6) Freshened up. Came on strongly when 2nd last time at Randwick but will be down in distance. Could take beating. MIAMI BOUND (7) Got the cash when winning three runs back at Moonee Valley and always seems to find the line well. Should take beating.

Race 7:
SNAPDANCER (6) Got the prize when winning two runs back at Randwick but racing in stronger company today. Could take beating. SIERRA SUE (3) Game effort to win two runs back at Flemington and displays good closing speed. Serious player. PROBABEEL (1) Fresh after a break. Solid win two runs back at Randwick but hoping that the added weight won’t hurt. Strong claims. BAM’S ON FIRE (4) First run back from a break. Winner three runs back here but rises in weight. Market watch advised.

Race 8:
SIR DRAGONET (2) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Showed promise when winning two runs back at Moonee Valley but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Serious player. CROSSHAVEN (10) Brave effort to win last start at Flemington and shows good early pace. Looks a winning hope. IMAGING (6) Put in a competitive run when placing 3rd last run at Rosehill and finishes off strongly. Definite winning chance. FIFTY STARS (3) Stormed home when 2nd last start at Flemington and displays good finishing speed. In the mix.

Race 9:
GREYWORM (2) Should be ready to fire fresh with 3 wins from 5 runs. Solid effort when winning three runs back at Randwick and shows good early pace. Good chance and wouldn’t be surprised to see it pick up a win. VIRIDINE (1) Ran on strongly when 2nd last time at Moonee Valley. Has the ability to figure. GARNER (4) Managed to run 2nd last time at Flemington but resumes after a spell. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Right in this. HOW WOMANTIC (7) Brave effort to win three runs back at Moonee Valley and displays good tactical speed. Worth strong consideration

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
NOTE: Rail back true. Was 9m last week and the inside lanes were avoided (by most) from very early on. REGARDSMAREE should be unbeaten this prep and that was some win here last time with blinkers back on. He was back/wide and keen off a walking tempo yet won running away! MARCEL FROM MADRID is ticking over nicely this prep. He is acting like he wants 1400m now. PAPERBOY was not far off Regardsmaree two back and has a relative weights advantage. IMPERIAL LAD gets down in the weights. SONAREE a hope fresh. Jumpout: good. EUGENE’S FOREST won easily third up last prep. MYSTERY SHOT was too bad to be true fresh!
Selections: 7. Regardsmaree (Best of the Day), 6. Sonaree, 9. Imperial Lad, 8. Eugene’s Forest

Race 2:
Both newbies have shown ability at jumpouts, without raving. This looks an even Prelude. None of these fillies have yet shown anything exceptional ”on the clock” so it will likely be the level of improvement that will be queen. PICARONES ran well behind a good one at Hillside when not in the A-ground. TELLURIDE chased Abseiler (since good in boys’ Preview) before winning at MV in blanket go. BIRD OF DUBAI looked a bit stiff there. TAYLA’S MOMENT split Dosh and Frost Flowers in girls’ Preview. TEMPEST CHARM was ridden but won jumpout well. ARCADED was dominant last 100m on debut beating LADY AUDREY.
Selections: 5. Arcaded (top tip), 3. Tayla’s Moment, 6. Bird Of Dubai, 2. Telluride

Race 3:
ALMIGHTY RISING looked to have plenty to give all coiled up in 28/1 jumpout. JIGSAW was an exceptional debut winner beating Artorius, who then won brilliantly. He ran very good time and has since jumped out super. GENERAL BEAU had gun run in Preview but beat a good field, in good time. EXTREME WARRIOR covered more ground than him though and was every bit as good (in my humble). MARINE ONE ran 11.44 home (race-fastest), yes 1100m. ANAMOE’s debut was lovely/luckless (Extreme Warrior was second) and his Merson Cooper win excellent. CONSTRUCT chased MM winner Shaquero at debut and trialled well.
Selections: 7. Jigsaw (top tip), 2. Anamoe, 10. Almighty Rising, 3. Extreme Warrior

Race 4:
SPEED: 5 may lead 8 with 4,6 handy. AMISH BOY had a task fresh with 58kg Vs older horses then ran by Away Game on the Gold Coast. IT’SOURTIME has impressed in his two wins, definite strength on the clock to latest win and 3rd-horse Power Boom has been running OK behind Miss Albania. YULONG CODE resumes and won jumpout by panels! His maiden win in September was good (but no great guide given walking tempo). The horse he beat has run second to 2 x City/Sat winners in Syd though. POLAND also won jumpout by a space! I’M THUNDERSTRUCK ran slick last 600m figure on debut. YOUNG WERTHER had quiet jumpout, JET PROPULSION went well
Selections: 2. Amish Boy (top tip), 10. Yulong Code, 8. Poland, 7. It’sourtime

Race 5:
SPEED: 1,10,4 with 9,8 right there. PINKHAM looked smart winning on debut and the clock did back her up, the runner-up then won, twice. She won recent trial by 7L with HINDAAM hitting the line nicely behind her. That girl (HINDAAM) ran down LA MEXICANA before the spell but said runner-up was excellent that day absorbing pressure on a hot speed. Her (LA MEXICANA) return win was solid, and in good time! AIDENSFIELD has been jumping out well, her last fresh run was terrific. HIGHLY DISCREET’s form ties in, she closed well (shown whip) in trial.
Selections: 10. Pinkham (top tip), 1. La Mexicana, 5. Aidensfield, 2. Hindaam

Race 6:
Not sure leader. Maybe 8 from 5,4,6, 11 might also. MISS SISKA has been trialling well for her return, she won this last year despite a 3-wide trip and beat HARLEM into 4th that day, he was also 1st-up, as he is today. Harlem had a two-horse war with NONCONFORMIST in a Coongy here in Spring and meets him 8kg better this weight scale. Like the way Nonconformist is trialling though. OVER EXPOSURE should have beaten VASSILATOR for mine before good win latest, in good time. This weight scale does not suit him. BEST OF DAYS needs a win but is going well. NEUFBOSC drops to 1600m off 5-week freshen?
Selections: 8. Miss Siska (value bet), 2. Nonconformist, 5. Harlem, 6. Best Of Days

Race 7:
SPEED: 11 may lead 7 with 4,5,6,9 capable of being handy. PROBABEEL is the class and better than mares grade. She has 60kg but should be giving two below her 8kg on ratings. She has won her last four on dry tracks. LASHES might be a match-fit danger, her form can be tied in to Probabeel through Roheryn. SNAPDANCER easily beat Tailleur two-back, that girl then beat Lashes. SIERRA SUE is unbeaten fresh, her sole defeat on dry ground was to Affair To Remember. Liked her jumpout win! BAM’S ON FIRE jumped out well. PAUL’S REGRET a hope also.
Selections: 1. Probabeel (top tip), 3. Sierra Sue, 6. Snapdancer, 7. Lashes

Race 8:
SPEED: 5 looks leader with 7, 9, 10 handy. 6 next? SIR DRAGONET resumes, he has never raced below 2004m but he showed great dash in recent trial. He is the class and looks ready to go fresh. IMAGING might well have won a Missile Stakes fresh last prep with any luck, he then ran very well in two slick Group 1 races in Sydney. 3YO CROSSHAVEN is in the game off his solid trial win. STREETS OF AVALON is a Group 1 winner here at 1400m and did win nicely fresh up. FIFTY STARS hit the line in his trial behind Sir Dragonet. BLAZEJOWSKI is not out of this and may be stupid odds again?
Selections: 2. Sir Dragonet (top tip), 6. Imaging, 5. Streets Of Avalon, 10. Crosshaven

Race 9:
SPEED: 2 can lead 7,10. GREYWORM has been trialling very well for his return, he ran OK in Shorts fresh last prep and was not far off Dirty Work/ Bivouac but he didn’t lead. The last three times he has led in his races, he has won. VIRIDINE is much better suited here as opposed to MV and is a big danger! GARNER won trial well in S.A. and hit line hard this track/trip fresh last prep crossing the line with BOLD STAR who also flew late. SWORD OR MERCY keeps running slick times and is a must include for mine. Can make a case for all ten of these though…
Selections: 2. Greyworm (top tip), 1. Viridine, 4. Garner, 10. Sword Of Mercy

Unibet – Trav Noonan:

Race 4: I’m Thunderstruck (4.00) (win)
Race 6: Nonconformist (4.80) (win), Night’s Watch (14.00) (win)

Unibet – The Professor:

Race 5: Profiteer (1.75)
Race 6: North Pacific (2.30)

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
NASDAQ DUBAI (5) Sterling Alexiou & Gerald Ryan trained 2yo by Not A Single Doubt on debut. Could feature prominently. CONEXY (1) Game effort to win last start at Doomben but back from a break. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Well placed and has solid claims. TESTIMONIAL (12) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. When $7 came in 6th last time at the track but having second run today. Can go on with it. TILIANAM (13) Handy enough when winning last time at Canberra and having second career run. Capable of a place and a good chance.

Race 2:
ANOTHER ONE (1) Comprehensive victory when winning last time here and let up. Very tidy this preparation winning 2 from 3 starts. Goes close. MNEMENTH (5) Having second run back from a spell. Scored a victory two runs back at Albury. One to watch and an each way chance. COMMANDO HUNT (11) Fought on well to win last start at Muswellbrook but up in grade. Worth keeping safe. LADY DEMI (4) Made considerable ground when 2nd three runs back at the track but gets back and needs luck. Hard to knock and looks a nice each way proposition.

Race 3:
WRITTEN BEAUTY (6) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Fought on gamely when winning last run at Flemington and goes down in weight. Take holding out. SPACEBOY (2) Could improve on placing 3rd two runs back at Wyong but rising in weight. Expecting to settle positively. Has to be included. BLACK MAGNUM (5) Proven record when resuming with 3 wins from 5 runs. Brave effort to win two runs back at Canterbury and carrying less weight this time. Has each way claims. ZANIAH (7) Hit the line well when 3rd last run at Flemington but likely to get back. Has claims.

Race 4:
APRIL RAIN (8) Showed promise when winning last time at Canterbury and third up. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Looks very sharp this preparation with 2 wins from as many starts. Every chance today. MADAM LEGEND (1) Was rock solid when winning three runs back at this course and displays good tactical speed. Don’t dismiss. STARLA (4) Good show finishing 2nd last run at Rosehill. Underrated. TEPARIO (6) Third up from a spell. Got the prize when winning two runs back at Canterbury. Market may be ultimate guide.

Race 5:
PROFITEER (1) Back from a let up. Winner last start at Flemington and carrying less weight this time. Racing in good form and must respect. ASHEMA (9) Displayed good finishing speed when 3rd last start around here and dropping weight today. Minor claims. SNEAKY FIVE (8) Fresh after a spell. Brave effort to win last time at Rosehill. Marginal hopes. NICE FOR WHAT (11) Resumes from a break. Did well to finish 2nd last time at Flemington and having second race start. Not the worst in this field.

Race 6:
NORTH PACIFIC (3) Resumes after a break. Put a gap on the rest when winning three runs back at this venue but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Looks the one to beat. PELTZER (1) Good win last time at the track and expecting to settle positively. Can figure. THE FACE (6) Left nothing to chance when winning last time at this venue but racing in stronger company. Displays good tactical speed. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value. PRAGUE (2) Honest race when 2nd three runs back at this course but fresh today. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Watch market moves.

Race 7:
OLE KIRK (1) Resumes from a break. Game effort to win last run at Caulfield and looks well placed in this grade. Will take some beating today. DAME GISELLE (10) Resuming. Got the upper hand late when winning two runs back at the track and proven runner at this distance. Ready to win. THE BOPPER (3) Having second run back from a spell. Good win two runs back at this track and likely to be well placed early. Must respect in this event. PRIME STAR (2) Fresh after a break. Ran on strongly when 2nd last time at this track but returning to a shorter trip. Follow market leads.

Race 8:
ALL TIME LEGEND (8) Really dug deep when winning two runs back here and goes down in weight. Looks the one. MOUNT POPA (7) Resuming after a break. Was all too good winning last time at this track and dropping weight today. Can give this a shake. QUACKERJACK (1) Finished 2nd last start at this track and expecting to settle positively. One of the main dangers. ORDER AGAIN (3) Found another gear when winning two runs back at this venue and having third run back from a spell. Will be looking to sit just behind the pace. Looks to have a good chance of placing.

Race 9:
BLAZE A TRAIL (6) Having second run back from a break. Won two runs back at Newcastle and can save some energy from the gate. Key player. SKY LAB (12) Having second run back from a spell. Was first to greet the judge when winning last start at Wyong and goes down in weight. Contender. DERBARI (9) Backing up quickly. Finished 2nd last run at Rosehill and gets a reduction in weight. Place wouldn’t shock. ZING (8) Bold effort to win two runs back at the track and should race just behind the speed. Has run into the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. Exotics chance.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
Conditions were upgraded to Soft 7 late Wednesday morning and should improve further leading to the weekend. There is a forecast for thunderstorms on raceday but it’s a bit early to be certain about that. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a Good 4 by Friday and then we’ll see how things play out. Rail back to the true position. CONSTRUCT is down for a Prelude at Caulfield and will go there. 4, 6, 8, 9 also accept for (a $20,000 race at) Canberra on Friday. The other Snowden runner – CONGLOMERATE – was positive in a recent trial, as was NASDAQ DUBAI. KELVEDON ROAD has trialled well twice out of town. Had troubles at the start in the latest but was good late. RETRIEVAL has been off-speed and home quiet in two most recent. Got some time for TESTIMONIAL, who draws better today.
Selections: 12. Testimonial (top tip), 5. Nasdaq Dubai, 1. Conexy, 13. Tilianam

Race 2:
This week’s Highway sees 16 accept and there is a depth of genuine chances in it. 6, 12 and 13 were dual acceptors at preview time. FULL OF FIRE can find the front and the filly PRALINE can cross over with him. ANOTHER ONE dons blinkers for the first time in a race. Freshened since a pre-Christmas win here, I’m somewhat concerned he could be cluttered up inside runners – something that was used as an excuse two runs ago – but his record stands well against any others here. Where LADY DEMI gets to is a question in itself but she rarely runs poorly in a race of this type and I could be wither her each-way.
Selections: 4. Lady Demi (top tip), 1. Another One, 15. Red Kanzi, 11. Commando Hunt

Race 3:
2 and 4 to lead 3 and 1. WRITTEN BEAUTY adds plenty of interest to the meeting. Went quickly through her grades last prep and she approaches this off a resounding trial win on Monday just gone. On the strength of that alone, I couldn’t back anything to beat her. Presume she’s nice and short. ZANIAH led her recent trial and just coasted to the line. Could have won it easily and it was a solid outing in prep for her return. She will try to have last say in the race and is a mare of some quality but running past the filly may prove too difficult. Other resumers like STAR BOY and BLACK MAGNUM have had winning trials.
Selections: 6. Written Beauty (Best of the Day), 7. Zaniah, 4. Star Boy (8)

Race 4:
A field of 12 and no dual acceptors! Waller with 5 of the 12. MADAM LEGEND was 1200 back to 1100 last time but now looks suited rising to the 1300m from a draw where she can either lead or trail. Looks well placed here but worth remembering that STARLA has beaten her home in both their meetings and is looking very much like she could notch her next win at any time. She does that though – her record when starting single figures is 18 for 1:7:2. APRIL RAIN has won as expected so far this prep now needs to transition from Canterbury to Randwick on Saturday. FASHCHANEL two from two fresh and has trialled nicely here recently.
Selections: 1. Madam Legend (top tip), 8. April Rain, 11. Fashchanel, 4. Starla

Race 5:
$2M on offer. Nice work if you can get it. PROFITEER was dominant on debut and has come here to win a trial (at Rosehill) last week with Bowman aboard. Clearly has the speed to lead these and he looks to be all quality so a big pay cheque awaits all involved. ASHEMA in both runs so far and you could certainly say this is no easier but she should come up with gun run and has a chance to end up top three again. MYSTIC GEM has to leap up in grade but could see a friendly run as well. The Maher/Eustace pair not so much; their gates could end up quite problematic.
Selections: 1. Profiteer (top tip), 9. Ashema, 10. Mystic Gem, 12. Jessica Rabbit

Race 6:
Pace put forward by 7 and 6 primarily. Expect them to stride along quite genuinely. NORTH PACIFIC is the clear-cut high-rater in this race and just needs the tempo to unfold roughly as expected to surge over the top. All being well, a Group One win awaits him this prep. Two recent trials, both pretty much as you’d want to see. PELTZER has won all four at Randwick – 1200, 1300, 1500 and 1600m. Where he gets to from the outside and speed drawn underneath him remains to be seen. TOMMY GOLD hasn’t put more than two runs together as yet but fresh form solid and can be next best.
Selections: 3. North Pacific (top tip), 1. Peltzer, 8. Tommy Gold, 6. The Face

Race 7:
Speed supplied by 3 and 4 with 8 and 9 handy. This looks very similar to the previous in that the Hawkes runner OLE KIRK has lengths on his opposition classwise and with even luck should just run past and run away. Runner-up in his sprint runs last prep but to a flying (at the time) Anders and then Rothfire. Performances somewhere in the region of those will do the trick here. DAME GISELLE is his strongest opponent in terms of what she’s done so far and a recent trial 3rd to Nature Strip/Bivouac is a decent outing to resume off.
Selections: 1. Ole Kirk (top tip), 10. Dame Giselle, 8. Rule Of Law, 11. Bella Nipotina

Race 8:
1 and 8 offer the only real speed in the race. ALL TIME LEGEND is asked to go up in class but of course gets the weight relief and is arguably better off for that one mile run under his belt. I’ll lean his way over the resuming MOUNT POPA who has waited a week to return and should have plenty to say about the result. Both are weighted well here on where I expect they can get to in their careers. Erring on the side of race fitness and the map but odds could sway to POPA perhaps if they take a risk with him. QUACKERJACK showed a glimmer of form last time and could be worth keeping safe as well.
Selections: 8. All Time Legend (top tip), 7. Mount Popa, 1. Quackerjack (SCRATCHED), 3. Order Again

Race 9:
1 to lead 9 and 10 with 8 closer today as well. ULYSSES was outgunned by just one runner last time and has a chance to go all the way here again. I thought he was very game in defeat and now edges out to 1600m, a trip he has run well over (but hasn’t won at). JVO to alleviate the 60 kilos and rate him nicely up front. DERBARI on the quick turnaround and out to the mile. This looks a bit harder but can see favours in the run. BLAZE A TRAIL was sound off the break and did the 1300 to 1600m successfully last prep. Not exactly sure where ZING rates against some of these others in terms of class but she will certainly find a better run than last time.
Selections: 1. Ulysses (Value Bet), 9. Derbari, 6. Blaze A Trail, 8. Zing
