Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
LA ROCQUE (3) Solid effort when winning last time at Pakenham and fitter for debut run. Good form for this class and absolutely good enough for this race. FLYING EVELYN (2) Won narrowly last start at Moonee Valley and having second run today. Likely to race off the speed. Winning hope. DE LONG STAR (4) Rattled home nicely into 2nd last start at Sandown and having second race start. Minor claims. HER EMPIRE (5) Finished strongly when 3rd last time at Bendigo and having second career run. Looks a great place bet.

Race 2:
ANNAVISTO (7) Having second run back from a spell. Solid win last run at Pakenham and suited by the weight drop. Should muster plenty of early speed. Will take some beating today. CUMBERBATCH (5) Second up from a break. Nice run when 2nd last time at Sandown and carrying less weight this time. Will be in the finish. MISS INBETWEEN (8) Having second run back from a spell. Big effort to finish 3rd three runs back at Moonee Valley and has been racing in stronger company. Good chance and wouldn’t be surprised to see it pick up a win. HINDAAM (3) Was fighting out the finish when winning two runs back at Sandown and finishes off strongly. Winning hope.

Race 3:
ODEUM (5) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Solid effort when winning two runs back at Caulfield but carrying more weight than last time. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Looks the winner. PRETTY BRAZEN (2) At $14 finished 8th last run around here and resumes from a spell. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Better claims. HOLBIEN (7) Rattled home nicely into 2nd last run at this track and likely to be well placed early. Winless this campaign from 8 attempts. Among better hopes. PLEIN CIEL (4) Fell back to finish 9th last time at Ballarat but expected to be flashing home. One of the chances.

Race 4:
LIGHTSABER (3) Did enough to win last time at Sandown but facing a stronger class. Displays good tactical speed. Deserves consideration. PAULELE (2) Having second run back from a spell. Winner two runs back at Randwick and expecting to settle positively. Right in this. KOOLED (9) Stormed home when 2nd last start at Canterbury and having second career run. Warrants a bet. READILY AVAILABULL (1) Second up from a break. Was fighting out the finish when winning two runs back at Ballarat but up against stronger competition today. Market watch advised.

Race 5:
OXLEY ROAD (2) Left nothing to chance when winning last start at Caulfield. Strong form this campaign winning 2 from as many starts. Appears as a winning threat. MARBOOSHA (5) First up. Came on strongly when 2nd last start around here and can find a nice position from the draw. Genuine threat. PINKHAM (7) Second up. Solid win two runs back at Seymour. Genuine winning chance. BELLA NIPOTINA (3) Put in a competitive run when placing 2nd last run at this track and will be hitting the line strongly. Don’t dismiss.

Race 6:
SEPTEMBER RUN (14) Strong record when second up with 2 wins from 3 attempts. Displayed potential when winning two runs back at this track and can go through the gears. Looks the winner. SWATS THAT (18) Having second run back from a break. Solid effort when winning three runs back at Caulfield and hard to fault at this distance. Could win with the right run. CELEBRITY QUEEN (5) Scored a victory last run at Caulfield but gets back and needs luck. Can’t be left out of exotics. SIRIUS SUSPECT (15) Fresh after a break. Showed promise when winning last run at this venue and suited at this trip in the past. Could work into the placings.

Race 7:
LUNAKORN (7) Having second run back from a break. Won two runs back here. Winning claims. QUANTUM MECHANIC (6) Did a good job when winning last start at this track but up in grade. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. Leading chance. SILENT SOVEREIGN (2) Game effort to win two runs back at Caulfield and displays very good finishing speed. Should go close. SCARLET DREAM (5) Was 4.8L behind the winner at Pakenham last run on a good track. Gets in well and finishes off strongly. In the mix.

Race 8:
FIFTY STARS (3) Proven record third up with 4 wins from 6 attempts. Ran on strongly when 2nd last start at this course but rising in class. Keep in mind. PARADEE (17) Got the cash when winning last start at Caulfield and gets the perfect barrier. Should muster plenty of early speed. Tracking very well this preparation. Good chance and wouldn’t be surprised to see it pick up a win. SHARED AMBITION (11) Goes well third up with 2 wins from 4 attempts. Game effort to win two runs back at Randwick and will try to take advantage of the barrier. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Could win with the right run. NONCONFORMIST (14) Caught the eye when 3rd two runs back at Caulfield but prefers to settle towards the tail. One to watch and an each way chance.

Race 9:
PERSONAL (1) Having second run back from a break. Was first to greet the judge when winning two runs back at this venue and suited by the weight drop. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. No surprise to see a win. YES BABY YES (2) Game effort to win last time at Caulfield. Expected to be flashing home. Respect. MISS GUGGENHEIM (10) Fought on well to win three runs back at Geelong and will be hitting the line strongly. Open to improvement and has a show in this field. CHICA FUERTE (3) Good win three runs back at Caulfield and expecting to settle positively. Winning hope.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
NOTE: Rail is 5m. Was 2m last week and inside lanes seemed inferior ground as day wore on. Straight races you wanted to be middle of track and beyond. LA ROCQUE beat last weeks winner Tycoon Humma in trial before leading all way on debut, she ran useful time and 3rd-filly Ruby Mockingbird had run well without luck in a Blue Diamond Preview back in Jan. DE LONG STAR was no match for a good one on debut but ran 32.92 last 600m, she will win races. FLYING EVELYN was web-backed on debut and beat a couple who ran well behind Tycoon Humma last week. HER EMPIRE and TEMPEST CHARM chances.
Selections: 3. La Rocque (Top Tip), 4. De Long Star, 2. Flying Evelyn, 5. Her Empire

Race 2:
Not sure leader: 2,5,6,7 and also 8 can all be right there at 1400m. 1,9 can be close-up too so? CONCEITED will be much fitter here. CONFRONTATIONAL was not far off him in Zeditave Stks, MISS INBETWEEN did thrash him when they clashed in Spring and was 3L off Embolism (ran 4th in G1 last week) that day. ANNAVISTO was too good fresh, she beat Miss In-between 3L on debut. HINDAAM didn’t finish off fresh but did beat La Mexicana at 1400m in Spring. Her Kevin Hayes Stks race rated almost identical to Zeditave Stks.
Selections: 7. Annavisto (Top Tip), 8. Miss Inbetween, 3. Hindaam, 1. Conceited

Race 3:
SPEED: 7 may lead 5 & 3. SO SI BON was not far off the elites in the G1/WFA Futurity here fresh and was only beaten 2.4L in the G1 Memsie second up last prep. ICONOCLASM was 2.1L behind him in that Memsie when fresh last prep but has beaten So Si Bon and he had only 1kg less than him that day at MV. PRETTY BRAZEN ran well in the Cockram Stakes fresh last prep then beat Arcadia Queen! ODEUM jumped out well and measured up against older mares in a Group 1 at end of last prep. She carries half a kilo above WFA here.
Selections: 5. Odeum (Top Tip), 2. Pretty Brazen, 1. So Si Bon, 3. Iconoclasm

Race 4:
Not sure speedmap. LIGHTSABER beat DAILY BUGLE clearly at Hillside. CHEERFUL LEGEND was not far off Lightsaber when they clashed. He went to MV and beat MICRO and Treporti (who had Ingratiating form). READILY AVAILABULL and PAULELE both had excuses last time. KOOLED was good on debut, just missing Bacchanalia, and that 2YO wasn’t far off General Beau in a Blue Diamond lead-up. HITOTSU and WOLVES both had good closing splits in the G1 Blue Diamond and were not far off General Beau. They want 1400m! SAIF chased well on debut.
Selections: 10. Hitotsu (Value Bet), 9. Kooled, 2. Paulele, 14. Wolves

Race 5:
RANTING was not beaten far in G1 Oakleigh Plate but has 61kg. OXLEY ROAD was well backed at Caulfield and won easily. BELLA NIPOTINA was solid last week and she was right on heels of MARBOOSHA when they clashed here in the Spring behind Written Beauty. Marboohsa is trialling well for her return. FOREVER FREE beat older horses fresh. PINKHAM had some post-race issues (internal bleed) latest and ran well given that. MOZZIE MONSTER is promising!
Selections: 5. Marboosha (Top Tip), 7. Pinkham, 2. Oxley Road, 1. Ranting

Race 6:
SEPTEMBER RUN took some winding up in a fast-run 1000m G1 Lightning but that finale was outstanding. In fact, her 11.28 last 200m was clear fastest all day and she is better suited at 1200m. SWATS THAT did take some running down there, has 2kg swing, drawn 18, danger! September Run is 3-zip over her though. The more I watch Oakleigh Plate replay the more I think BROOKLYN HUSTLE should have won it! She couldn’t build any momentum 500m-to-300m then flew late (10.91 last 200m, only horse all day to break 11). KEMALPASA meets her, and CELEBRITY QUEEN, better at weights and gets softer tempo? He can win! Expect better ELITE STREET.
Selections: 14. September Run (Top Tip), 18. Swats That, 10. Brooklyn Hustle, 4. Kemalpasa

Race 7:
SPEED: 1 looks leader. 3, 10, 7 & 9 handy. SOVEREIGN AWARD has been going too keenly in the lead of late, her mile record is exceptional but her Flemington form is not. SILENT SOVEREIGN was back with winner QUANTUM MECHANIC here second up, she was left behind when said winner dashed but was race-fastest home. She may need further? SCARLET DREAM trialled well and ran on hard in on-pace Shannon Stakes fresh last prep. She needs another win. LUNAKORN was first home of all those coming through Mannerism and was 9-weeks between runs. KANSINO beat Quantum Mechanic two back, meets her 6kg worse.
Selections: 5. Scarlet Dream (Top Tip), 7. Lunakorn, 6. Quantum Mechanic, 1. Sovereign Award

Race 8:
SPEED: 4 may lead 16, 17 with 2, 13 handy. FIFTY STARS ran home hard in fast-run Blamey Stakes last week, he was under pressure a long way out and wants 2000m now! He won this last year and was wide when second to Arcadia Queen in Mackinnon here in spring. HUMIDOR hit line nicely fresh and split Russian Camelot and Arcadia Queen in an Underwood Stakes second up in spring. Many others come through the blanket-finish race that was the Peter Young Stakes won by PARADEE. That form ties in DEFIBRILLATE, which ties in SAN HUBERTO. ANGEL OF TRUTH best blowout? SHARED AMBITION can win.
Selections: 3. Fifty Stars (Top Tip), 17. Paradee, 12. Defibrillate, 6. Angel Of Truth

Race 9:
SPEED: 2 looks leader from 3, 4, 7 with maybe 9 handy? PERSONAL was no match at all for winner Zou Dancer (who ran quite well in Australian Guineas last week) here fresh but ran by STARELLE and meets her 3.5kg better at set-weights today. YES BABY YES won Armanasco (luckily!) with MISS GUGGENHEIM luckless. You could argue Miss Guggenheim should have beaten Starelle here in the Manifold Stakes in spring with even luck that day. ISLAND JOY was behind Starelle latest but 1600m suits her better. CHICA FUERTA was solid in Armanasco and good in Manifold. She sits closer today?
Selections: 1. Personal (Best of the Day), 10. Miss Guggenheim, 6. Starelle, 3. Chica Fuerte

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
WILD RULER (1) Has a good record first up with 2 wins from 3 runs. Landed the spoils when winning two runs back at this venue and should come to hand quickly. Could put a good margin on these. ANDERMATT (6) Second up. Fought on gamely when winning last start at Rosehill but rising in weight. Key hope. DOUBTLAND (3) First run back after spell. Left nothing to chance when winning three runs back at Flemington and dropping in grade. Among the major players. VOWMASTER (7) Having second run back from a break. Finished on top two runs back at Moonee Valley but rising in grade. Contender.

Race 2:
PROFITEER (1) Shot clear to win last start at the track and drawn well. Strong form this campaign winning 2 from as many attempts. Looks well placed. STAY INSIDE (5) Had a comfortable win last run at this track but racing in stronger company. Looks very sharp this preparation with 2 wins from 2 starts. Winning appeal. REMARQUE (7) Let up. Finished on top last start at Rosehill and gets some weight relief. No surprise to see a win. HOME AFFAIRS (4) Really dug deep when winning last time at Rosehill. Can surprise and by no means out of it.

Race 3:
SWIFT WITNESS (1) Had a comfortable win two runs back at Gold Coast and freshened up. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. One of the main dangers. VIANELLO (3) Flashed home late into 2nd last start here and can save some energy from the draw. Include in all exotics. PRETTY WOMAN (5) Showed promise when winning last start at Canberra but up against stronger competition today. Unbeaten this campaign with 2 wins from as many runs. Contender. JOYOUS LEGEND (6) Got the cash when winning last start at Gosford and having second career run. Each way prospects.

Race 4:
SACRAMENTO (2) Handy enough when winning last time at Rosehill but rising in weight. Won’t be far away during the run. Strong hope. MOUNT POPA (7) Second up from a spell. Chimed in with a win two runs back at this venue and gets the perfect barrier. Don’t overlook. ENTENTE (8) Second up. Really dug deep when winning three runs back at Port Macquarie and carrying less weight this time. Genuine winning chance. COLLIDE (4) Strong record when resuming with 3 wins from 5 starts. Came in 3rd two runs back at Newcastle and dropping weight today. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. Honest enough to be an each way player.

Race 5:
NATURE STRIP (1) Second up. Fought on gamely when winning last time at Flemington and strong form at the distance. A likely win. WRITTEN BEAUTY (8) Having second run back from a spell. Solid win last run around here but facing a stronger grade. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Key player. EDUARDO (2) Dashed home into 2nd three runs back here and should come to hand quickly. Solid each way claims. SPLINTEX (4) Resumes after a spell. Slipped back to finish 8th last time at Moonee Valley but proven performer at this trip. Each way.

Race 6:
EMANATE (6) Comprehensive victory when winning last start at Rosehill and third up. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Should be far too good for these. FIESTA (2) Landed the spoils when winning two runs back at Flemington and displays very good closing speed. Open to improvement and has a show in this field. POSITIVE PEACE (1) Generally strong second up with 3 wins from 4 starts. Looked good when 3rd three runs back at Rosehill and won’t be far away during the run. Include in all exotics. STOLEN JADE (7) Displayed potential when winning two runs back at Gold Coast and going well this preparation. Likely to fill a place.

Race 7:
AEGON (1) Good win last time at Rosehill and likely to race off the speed. Flawless this preparation with 2 wins from 2 runs. Take holding out. MO’UNGA (7) Having second run back from a spell. Landed the spoils when winning three runs back at Rosehill and expected to be flashing home. Good chance and wouldn’t be surprised to see it pick up a win. PELTZER (5) Winner two runs back at the track and expecting to settle positively. Rates an each way chance. NORTH PACIFIC (3) Came on strongly to finish 2nd last run at Rosehill and having third run back from a spell. Should just about get the run of the race. Capable of a place and a good chance.

Race 8:
BIVOUAC (1) Races well second up winning 2 from 4 runs. Thrashed the field when winning two runs back at Flemington. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Can dominate and win. SAVATIANO (8) Won last start at Rosehill and shows good early pace. Expect to go close. MASKED CRUSADER (7) Generally strong second up. Left nothing to chance when winning last run at this course but rises in weight today. Right in this. DREAMFORCE (2) Got the upper hand late when winning two runs back around here but fresh after a break. Has good tactical speed and will be nicely positioned. Looks a good chance of finishing in the money.

Race 9:
NIMALEE (12) Second up from a spell. Scored a victory last start at Rosehill. Should be right in the finish. SHE’S IDEEL (5) Having second run back from a spell. Did well to finish 3rd last run at Rosehill and always seems to find the line well. Keep in mind. POLLY GREY (13) Second up from a spell. Managed to run 3rd last run at Rosehill. Underrated. ROCHA CLOCK (7) Fought on well to win three runs back at Flemington and should get going late. A win wouldn’t surprise.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
We are Good 4 for Guineas Day at Randwick and there is no significant rain between now and the weekend. Rail out 3 metres. A wonderful card on offer. It begins with this enticing bunch of 3YOs. Lone filly MARBOOSHA (who has trialled really well) also has the option to go to Flemington. Pace from her and WILD RULER primarily but MAMARAGAN has trialled positively, leading twice. RULER has won a couple of trials himself and pretty much proved himself high quality last prep. ANDERMATT can sit handy and has it all before him, though conditions today may mean VOWMASTER can narrow the margin from two weeks ago.
Selections: 1. Wild Ruler (Top Tip), 6. Andermatt, 8. Marboosha, 7. Vowmaster

Race 2:
Most Slipper winners race on this day so all focus on these next two races to see if we can’t find a firm opinion about the big clash in a fortnight. Our current two Slipper faves are here in the Todman and both return to Randwick after making big impression one week apart. Dare say PROFITEER can have the front if he wants it and from the wider draw STAY INSIDE might have to give a bit of a start to him. REMARQUE was to expectations on debut and has trialled well since. Stablemate newcomer SOLAR WINDS fetched $900K as a yearling and may have some fans after taking out a Feb 23 Canterbury trial, his only public appearance. Sat 2nd/kicked on/nice work, but this is tough.
Selections: 1. Profiteer (Top Tip), 3. Anamoe, 5. Stay Inside, 7. Remarque

Race 3:
Popular opinion says the Slipper goes to a male this year so therefore expect this clash of fillies to impact markets a little less than the Todman. I’m sure a few of these (and maybe even a couple from R2) head to the Black Opal on Sunday instead. But as it stands, expect pace from 6, 5 and 2. VIANELLO’s 2nd to Stay Inside reads well but she is going to need some clear air at a crucial time from gate 1. SWIFT WITNESS had excuses at Gold Coast and has come back and trialled fine. GSTAAD showed decent acceleration to win her latest trial. CHILL missed the kick in her hitout and will be in trouble if she does that here.
Selections: 3. Vianello (Top Tip), 1. Swift Witness, 12. Gstaad, 2. Sliders

Race 4:
Expect some of these to defer to Monday’s $250,000 Canberra Cup? It may be preferable over this Listed race worth barely more than what a bog standard Saturday clash will be worth in only a few short months. We’ll see what we end up with then but SACRAMENTO should be relied on to do his thing again. Up 2 kilos from last start and there are new dangers here like MOUNT POPA to test him out. POPA is 4 weeks b/t runs but almost knocked over Shared Ambition off the break, and that galloper then acquitted himself well down in Melbourne a fortnight later. ENTENTE’s record b/t 1600-2000m reads 6 for 4:2:0.
Selections: 2. Sacramento (Top Tip), 7. Mount Popa, 8. Entente, 3. The Lord Mayor

Race 5:
Great contest! Speed red-hot. We know EDUARDO goes fast but he took a trail in his latest trial. JUNGLE EDGE doesn’t go quietly. SPACEBOY and BELLA VELLA could use their low draws to boot up. And of course NATURE STRIP could cross them all if he wants to. My guess is that he will want to?? He bounced back and won the Lightning well and of course he took this race out easily last year after a disappointing Lightning 4th. Will he back to that scary short price today?? Regardless, WRITTEN BEAUTY is a talented filly that did pretty much as expected on return and could have last look at these. It’s an acid test sure but she looks up to it.
Selections: 8. Written Beauty (Top Tip), 1. Nature Strip, 2. Eduardo, 4. Splintex

Race 6:
Speed from 1 and 10 primarily. EMANATE emerges from a decent Benchmark race to tackle black-type race for the first time. She’s won four of her latest five and the recent work suggests strongly she is nicely on the up to something like this. Nicely draw, good options. FIESTA hasn’t scored fresh for a while but she generally produces a good run off her breaks. JEN RULES can do likewise. POSITIVE PEACE looked pretty flat first-up and she needs to pick it up in a hurry. VULPINE only just proven as a genuine Saturday mare but she is up and going and hard fit.
Selections: 6. Emanate (Top Tip), 2. Fiesta, 5. Jen Rules, 1. Positive Peace

Race 7:
PELTZER to lead out as per usual. 10 can boot up and make a bid. 4 will be open to crossing. AEGON made a sorry mess of several of these in the Hobartville and is already well proven at the mile. Drawn just outside of midfield which is arguably better than the lower draw he had last time. He stands proudly unbeaten and the others will have to lift but he does race on Good for the first time. PELTZER has his own 5 from 5 record – here at Randwick. That can be the key factor in him improving. MO’UNGA (it’s the Lunar Fox form!) switches back and draws to park a little closer than he normally does perhaps. He’ll be sporting blinkers for the first time.
Selections: 1. Aegon (Best of the Day), 7. Mo’unga, 6. Lion’s Roar, 3. North Pacific

Race 8:
This was clearly named as the G1 aim for SAVATIANO when she won the Expressway so well some 5 weeks ago. She is well renowned as a five time G2 winner but G1 has eluded her to date and now is the time. (She actually ran 2nd – as fave – in this last year.) She’s had a nice little trial last week to help keep herself at the mark. Stablemate BIVOUAC can storm on his day. His Randwick record is…..reasonable. Maybe DAWN PASSAGE is the overlooked? Nice all-the-way trial win recently but he will likely be sitting comfortably at midfield here. MASKED CRUSADER was the butt of jokes last prep now looks for last laugh. Won’t shock.
Selections: 8. Savatiano (Top Tip), 1. Bivouac, 6. Dawn Passage, 7. Masked Crusader

Race 9:
18 mares contest the last but there is precious little speed here over the mile. 10 seems to have forgotten how to lead which leaves it open for 12, 16 and 18 to contest the front. NIMALEE was impressive on return and looks equally hard to hold out here. Drawn and weighted to see every chance and 1400m to the mile is the natural progression. Her performance in the Angst last campaign says she is up to winning at this level. Out of the same race comes POLLY GREY and she’ll be better for it as well. Favours for SELICA in run? SHE’S IDEEL hit the line pleasingly when resuming. She always needs a few things to fall into place.
Selections: 12. Nimalee (Value Bet), 18. Selica, 13. Polly Grey, 9. Outback Diva
