Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
PLAYOFFS (5) Despite being out sprinted still placed 3rd two runs back at this course. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Been in the money 5 from 7 attempts this campaign. REAL SENSATION (10) Pulled away to win last time at Stawell and finishes off strongly. Should go well. Right in the thick of it and is a major player. REUBER (6) Had a comfortable win last time at Werribee and third up from a break. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Chance in this field so include in exotics.

Race 8:
ARCADIA QUEEN (10) Having second run back from a break. Finished on top two runs back at Flemington and finishes off strongly. Looks a worthwhile proposition today. PROBABEEL (11) Could build on a strong third up record. Game effort to win last run at Caulfield. Should just about get the run of the race. Deserves consideration. CORDILLA (5) Did a good job when winning two runs back at Cranbourne and can go through the gears. No surprise to see a forward showing and one of the main hopes in this race. THE BILLIONAIRE (10) Solid effort when winning last start at Wangaratta and gets some weight taken off today. Should be very competitive and is a genuine threat. VONGOLE (4) Game effort to win three runs back at Pakenham and displays good closing speed. Open to improvement and has a show in this field. VICI (6) Nice effort when winning two runs back at the track and gets some weight relief. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Racing consistently this preparation. Market watch advised

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
NOTE: Rail is True. We have not had a true rail here since Jan 22 and on-pace runners had a good night at that meeting. At last meeting here the rail was 6m and on-pace/ inside was place to be. FANCIFUL TOFF was a strong winner here last time, third horse there then won easily. PLAYOFFS was 5-weeks between runs and way back/ wide from outside gate, she draws better today and has relative weights advantage. That form ties in COIN COLLECTOR. BREAKING LOOSE has been dominant in two 2400m-ish wins, third horse Northanna wasn’t far off RISING ARCHIE one day, and that’s AURORA’S SYMPHONY form.
Selections: 5. Playoffs (Top Tip), 1. Fanciful Toff, 8. Breaking Loose, 4. Aurora’s Symphony

Race 2:
Two (possible) debutants (AWE also an acceptor in Sydney). He (AWE) looked very good in his latest trial up there. THE AMAZONIAN has ability also. DIO had backing on debut in a Silver Slipper (off nice trial form) but didn’t finish off on near-heavy ground, he can improve lengths here! SCORCHED EARTH went to 1200m in Adelaide and blitzed her rivals. She didn’t smash the clock but the margin was 5¼ lengths. PREDETERMINED won well fresh with blinkers on, albeit on a leaders’ track. GLITTER ‘N’ GOLD did a great job on debut after blowing the start.
Selections: 7. Scorched Earth (Top Tip), 6. Awe, 4. Dio, 1. Predetermined

Race 3:
Not sure speed-map here. 4 may lead, 7 was ridden back fresh last prep at 2000m. 1,2,3 and even 6 can be right up there. PERSAN never runs poorly and is very well weighted after the claim. TOO CLOSE THE SUN found a hot G1 Futurity a bit slick at 1400m fresh, quickly to 2040m against these and he can win. IRISH FLAME was up near a fearsome speed in Blamey, he ran very well. HANG MAN, BLENHEIM PALACE and KENTUCKY BREEZE have the Defibrillate form, he just ran well in an Australian Cup.
Selections: 1. Persan (Top Tip), 5. Hang Man, 2. Too Close The Sun, 3. Irish Flame

Race 4:
SPEED: 3 leads 1,2. DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR is very good fresh and form last prep around Zoutori and Behemoth is great for this. AGE OF CHIVALRY was pipped by Viridine fresh last prep. ANCESTRY was pressured in an Oakleigh Plate and held on well on tough day to lead. He is back a notch here onto a track he is unbeaten at. USMANOV ran well last start behind Fabergino. PANDEMIC hit the line nicely behind that same star sprinter (Fabergino) last start, he is 8-weeks fresh here but trialled well.
Selections: 7. Pandemic (Top Tip), 3. Ancestry, 1. Dollar For Dollar, 2. Age Of Chivalry

Race 5:
SPEED: 7 leads? 3 may well go forward this time. 6,9 handy. CHERRY TORTONI was the best run in the race in an Australian Guineas for mine, he won Vase here at this trip in Spring and draws a gate! YOUNG WERTHER has very similar form line through Khoekhoe and he wants all of 2040m. GRANDSLAM can win if he finds that Caulfield Guineas run (when he led). BELTORO gets blinkers on, only Cherry Tortoni had a stronger last 200m than him in Guineas. Filly PARURE beat Khoekhoe and Young Werther at Caulfield.
Selections: 1. Cherry Tortoni (Top Tip), 9. Parure, 4. Beltoro, 2. Young Werther

Race 6:
SPEED good. 6 may lead with any/all of 1, 2, 5, 13, 14, 15 handy. 9, 10 can be up there also. Key hopes draw wide. Many of the main hopes come through Ballarat race won by INTELLECTIVE, who did a good job off tardy start. INDISPENSIBLE was wide and gets Ollie. MAXIMAK was forced wide on the turn and ran on hard. FLANDERSRAIN did some early work and held on well. LA FALAISE had mixed luck (ran well). Of the others: IRiSH PLAYBOY beat JUDESTAR (wide) at Pakenham. Both were good, both draw out. ASTRAEUS is fitter.
Selections: 2. Indispensable (Top Tip), 3. Irish Playboy, 5. Intellective, 12. Judestar

Race 7:
SPEED: 4 can lead 8 with 3, 9 handy. 1, 2, 12 can be up there also. SALTPETER beat home CONCEITED last week but the latter had little luck and will be fitter. NARVAEZ went too hard last time! His form around Parure and Beltoro prior reads very well for this. REUBER looked good at Werribee. BELLINGER looked good at Hillside. REAL SENSATION looked good at Stawell. CHOISIR LANE looked good at Ballarat. ZOUTELLUS has Grand Pope form, which ties in.
Selections: 4. Narvaez (Value Bet), 6. Reuber, 7. Bellinger, 2. Conceited

Race 8:
SPEED: 13 can lead 12 with 3,5,2,11 taking trails. ARCADIA QUEEN was only 1st-up and covered more ground than PROBABEEL when closing in on her late fresh in Orr Stks, she is unbeaten on dry ground at 1600m+. Probabeel has won her last six on dry including three G1 races, in one of those (Epsom Hcp) she sat 3-deep too. Two absolute stars! RUSSIAN CAMELOT was wide/ enormous in G1 Makybe Diva Stks fresh last prep then beat Arcadia Queen in Caulfield Stks. His Cox Plate run was excellent close to hot speed. MUGATOO was wide/ great in that Cox Plate too.
Selections: 10. Arcadia Queen (Top Tip), 9. Russian Camelot, 11. Probabeel, 6. Mugatoo

Race 9:
This race is a BM80. SPEED: 10 may lead 11 with 2,6,7,8 handy? CORDILLA resumes and has jumped out well. She has a touch of quality and was luckless fresh last prep when arguably should have beaten Group-competitive horses. THE BILLIONAIRE did a good job at Wangaratta at his first go beyond 1100m and ran useful time. GOLD SPARK won well Bendigo when 6-weeks off, with 61kg! VICI gets back to The Valley and is a winning hope.
Selections: 5. Cordilla (Best of the Day), 10. The Billionaire, 7. Gold Spark, 6. Vici

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
GREAT HOUSE (4) Winner two runs back at this venue but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Always seems to find the line well. Take holding out. TOSCANINI (7) Fought on well to win last start at Randwick but up in grade. Should just about get the run of the race. Expected to fight out the finish. WELSH LEGEND (6) Nice run finishing 2nd last start at Canterbury and having third run back from a break. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Warrants a bet. KISS THE BRIDE (1) Honest race when 3rd three runs back at Randwick but hoping that the added weight won’t hurt. Not the worst in this field.

Race 2:
MALLORY (3) Handy enough when winning two runs back at the track and always seems to find the line well. Rates a winning chance. ARCADED (2) Did enough to win two runs back at Caulfield and should race just behind the speed. Going well this preparation. Big chance. ROBODIRA (4) Having second run back from a spell. Showed promise when winning two runs back at this venue and back in an easier grade. Should take beating. JAMAEA (5) Brave effort to win three runs back at Kembla Grange and goes down in class. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Quite a few boxes are ticked and looks value at generous odds.

Race 3:
INGRATIATING (2) Fought on gamely when winning two runs back at Flemington and going down in grade. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Looks a strong bet for punters. HILAL (6) Won narrowly two runs back at Randwick. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Winning hope. SHAQUERO (1) Did a good job when winning two runs back at Gold Coast and will try to take advantage of the alley. Should jump out and bowl along. Good prospect for the exotics at least. CAPTIVANT (4) Solid effort when winning three runs back at Randwick and gets a nice run behind the speed. Has each way claims.

Race 4:
COLETTE (4) Won two runs back at Randwick and third up from a spell. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Clear favourite with an abundance of ability against these. THE CHOSEN ONE (3) Second up from a break. Came in 2nd last run at Te Rapa and dropping weight today. Should go close. SPIRIT RIDGE (6) Fresh today after a break. Solid effort when winning last time at Randwick but facing a stronger class. Worth a ticket. TOFFEE TONGUE (5) Rocketed home into 3rd three runs back at Flemington and third up from a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Each way appeal.

Race 5:
WANDABAA (9) Proven record when resuming with 3 wins from 3 starts. Ran on strongly when 2nd two runs back at Randwick and displays very good closing speed. Go close. CALIFORNIA ZIMBOL (5) Strong record when resuming with 2 wins from 4 attempts. Fought on gamely when winning two runs back at Caulfield and goes down in weight. Go close. ORDER OF COMMAND (2) Back after spell. Flew home into 2nd last start at Sandown and goes down in class. Contender. PRIME CANDIDATE (4) Got the upper hand late when winning three runs back at this venue and should jump out and bowl along. Keep in mind.

Race 6:
IMPECUNIOUS (9) Solid effort when winning two runs back at Caulfield and second up from a break. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value. HUNGRY HEART (6) Out of character when 8th at Randwick. Should bounce back and possesses good finishing speed. Can’t knock. ELIZABEEL (7) Showed a good turn of foot when 3rd last run at Randwick and gets a nice run behind the speed. Among better hopes. POLAND (1) Second up. Was first to greet the judge when winning last start at Caulfield and can save some energy from the draw. Include.

Race 7:
FORBIDDEN LOVE (9) Won by a huge margin last start at Randwick. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Tracking very well this preparation. Deserves consideration. CHAILLOT (14) Having second run back from a break. Was fighting out the finish when winning last run at Flemington and shows good finishing speed. Betting may be best guide to the chances and each way is the likely play. ICEBATH (6) Third up. Came in 3rd last run at Randwick. Market watch advised and can run into the money. SUBPOENAED (5) Having second run back from a break. Landed the spoils when winning last run here. Chance in this field so include in exotics.

Race 8:
CRIADERAS (11) Having second run back from a spell. Hit the line well when 2nd last time at Randwick and can save some energy from the gate. Bold performance expected. BUFFALO RIVER (7) Improved result placing 3rd last run at Flemington and expecting to settle positively. Top prospects against this opposition. ROCK (6) Good run when finishing 3rd two runs back at Flemington and displays good finishing speed. Has each way claims. GREYWORM (3) Proven record when third up with 2 wins from 4 starts. Sent around at $6.5 and ran 5th last time at Randwick. Very strong each way claims.

Race 9:
STARSPANGLED RODEO (6) Won with a leg in the air last start at the track and goes down in weight. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Open to improvement and is a strong chance again. YAO DASH (1) Solid effort when winning three runs back at Gold Coast but carrying more weight than last time. One of the main dangers. BOUND TO WIN (14) Races well second up winning 2 from 3 attempts. Finished strongly when 2nd last run at Randwick and can save some energy from the gate. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value. ZAKAT (12) Put in a competitive run when placing 2nd two runs back at Flemington and displays good tactical speed. Right in the thick of it and is a major player

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
Rosehill reported in as Good 4 on Wednesday morning but there is a strong likelihood of rain on Thursday (perhaps b/t 20-40mm) and there could be a little more on Thursday/Friday as well, so we should expect something in the Soft range I think. Rail true. The opener is the lesser race of the day but still a BM78 of some interest. Pace from 7 and 11 primarily. 10 and 14 are dual acceptors. GREAT HOUSE is up 5 kilos but drops to a significantly easier race and can hopefully pozzie closer than he was forced to last start from an outside barrier. Proven to Soft 7 and still on the up. TOSCANINI a clear danger.
Selections: 4. Great House (Top Tip), 7. Toscanini, 12. Mars, 6. Welsh Legend

Race 2:
Golly, where’s our speed?? Maybe ROBODIRA can be forward? LATINO BLEND closer up from today’s draw?? MALLORY and ROBODIRA through the Sweet Embrace and it’s probably the right form. MALLORY a winner on Soft 7 which could be a positive. QUEEN OF WIZARDRY trialled OK in a leader dominated hitout recently. Both runs say she has some quality if she handles the going and same applies to ARCADED. Barrier 1 against in the Blue Diamond and it’s all pretty easy to forgive that 9L beaten margin.
Selections: 3. Mallory (Top Tip), 4. Robodira, 1. Queen Of Wizardry, 2. Arcaded

Race 3:
Pace from 10, 9, 14 and 11. Pending conditions, INGRATIATING will have a think about whether he wants to scoot around here or not but undeniably – after stablemate Anamoe’s performance last week – there should be great respect for the formline he brings. HILAL looked to beat CAPTIVANT fair and square although the later has a change of headgear which could affect the way he settles. SHAQUERO looked plain from that race and may need it drier.
Selections: 2. Ingratiating (Top Tip), 6. Hilal, 4. Captivant, 7. Head Of State

Race 4:
2 and 8 the dual acceptors here and and absence of a clear-cut leader. It probably falls to a resuming SPIRIT RIDGE. He has been handy in two trials. COLETTE will cross handy and is likely to jump out a very short favourite here, for good reason. Has come back vying with Verry Elleegant in both runs and on the wetter ground she in fact had a clear edge 1st-up. She won’t mind if the rain falls hard later in the week. Without looking at this forensically just yet I have her in my head as no longer than a $1.20 chance here. On Heavy that quote would be generous. SPIRIT RIDGE handy but not seen worse than S5 out here.
Selections: 4. Colette (Top Tip), 6. Spirit Ridge, 3. The Chosen One, 7. Mustajeer

Race 5:
Pace a little tricky here but expect 6 and 4 prominent with 3, 2 and 1 taking trails. WANDABAA went from BM70 a the start of last prep to starting $3.70 vs Savatiano at the end of it. She may get a fair way back here – and this is Rosehill 1100m – but she is unbeaten fresh and into this off two winning trials (the latest over Mugatoo). CALIFORNIA ZIMBOL looks another ‘sit off and pounce’ sort of mare, well suited here on anything down to Soft 7. Query worse than that.
Selections: 9. Wandabaa (Top Tip), 5. California Zimbol, 2. Order Of Command, 4. Prime Candidate

Race 6:
Waiting on final scratchings for this one. 13 an early scratching and 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 were all booked for Friday’s Kembla Grange Classic (same money, fillies only, 1600m). 5 was in a Benchmark race there as well so expect we’ll be losing at least a few. If all here then speed from 5 ahead of 11, 1 and 7. POLAND can settle in for a cute trail just off the speed, or – depending on who’s left – might have to take it up. Either way his return win was a credit to him and the runner-up dropped back to 1200m and ran a G1 bottler last week. EMBOLISM suited 3rd-up, just needs that tempo to set him up.
Selections: 1. Poland (Top Tip), 2. Embolism, 7. Elizabeel, 9. Impecunious

Race 7:
Always a great race. 3 fillies versus 15 mares in this year’s edition. 8 might want to cross right over the top and lead again. 2, 18 and 9 certain to be handy. FORBIDDEN LOVE snuck under a few guards last start but she trounced that bunch of fillies and looks set to get a similar sort of friendly time in this. Wouldn’t be chasing her in too short though because – typically – it is a race of several genuine chances. VANGELIC was thrashed but does meet her 4.5 kilos better off. ICEBATH has returned well but found a few better. She would be a standout top pick if conditions got very wet but we will wait and see about that. TRICKY GAL and KRONE two that beat her home last time.
Selections: 9. Forbidden Love (Top Tip), 6. Icebath, 12. Tricky Gal, 3. Krone

Race 8:
7 and 3 the clear-cut leaders here and BUFFALO RIVER doesn’t tend to loaf. I thought he was grand in defeat last start and if he doesn’t overdo it out front he can be very hard to run down. But…..here I go again with CRIADERAS. Convinced he is a high level winner of the future, how frustrating to see him a clear last on the bend last time. Drawn the rail here – on the face of things not a positive gate for him – and I would just like to see him settle with a couple behind him. Powerful at the finish we know he will be and pattern pf the day can be crucial too. I feel pretty much locked in to him though.
Selections: 11. Criaderas (Best of the Day), 7. Buffalo River, 6. Rock, 3. Greyworm

Race 9:
Nice big field in the last, a BM88 over the 1350m. Look for 5 and 1 to cross up front. Thoughts here are for Soft 7 or better. A genuine Heavy track and I would throw my hands up in confusion. HOLYFIELD should return well at 1350m. Forget first-up last time around on a H10. Won his latest trial well. TWO BIG FARI draws further out than might be ideal but does have some fresh form and could be underrated in this line-up. YAO DASH should continue on with his sound recent output. MY GOLD BRACELET worth thought, out of left field. BOUND TO WIN in the mix. BULLFINCH trialled OK. Market?? Best trip??
Selections: 5. Holyfield (Value Bet), 4. Two Big Fari, 1. Yao Dash, 10. My Gold Bracelet
