Illawarra Hawks

Illawarra Hawks vs Brisbane Bullets

WIN Entertainment Centre

7:30pm AEDT

Brisbane Bullets

Both sides were beat with ease playing on the road last round. For Illawarra they went down by 12PTS to Adelaide at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. And for Brisbane they lost by 19PTS to Sydney at Qudos Bank Arena. These two damaging results have left both teams in 5th and 6th respectively looking in on 4th place. For the Hawks they need a win to boost them there and as for the Bullets they need two. This game right here is massive for both sides, make no two guesses about it.

In the Hawks 84-72 loss the only Q they won was the 3rd, 24-13. They lost the other three 21-17, 25-15 and 25-16. And in the Bullets 90-71 defeat they lost Q’s 3 and 4, 21-11 and 29-18. But they did win the opening two 23-22 and 19-18.

Jessup starred for the Hawks as he produced 17PTS on 46.2% shooting from the floor. Outside of him there was Naar with 16PTS on 45.5% shooting and Simon who produced 13PTS with 50.0% shooting. Jessup also had 2REB, 1AS, 1ST and 3BL. Naar hit a pair from deep as he also had 5REB, 3AS and 2ST. While Simon’s other stats included 3REB, 3AS, 1ST and 2BL.

Sobey lit up the floor for the Bullets as he had 31PTS, aided by his 6/11 shooting from deep. He also had 9REB, 2AS and 1BL. Cadee scored 11PTS, as he went 3/6 from beyond the arc. He also had 1REB, 4AS and 3ST. While making his presence felt off the bench, Harrison pulled in a MASSIVE 19 boards. He also had 8PTS, 1AS and 2BL.

These two teams just met in RD11, there at the WIN Entertainment Centre Illawarra Prevailed by 24PTS (96-72). Harvey produced 28PTS during that clash as he went 10/16 shooting from the court. Bairstow was also effective with 12PTS, as he shot 2/3 from the 3-point line. He also had 5REB, 2AS and 1BL off the pine in just a tad over 20 minutes playing time. None of those two players featured in the loss against Adelaide. So, if those two are again absent from the rotation then others will have to step up, otherwise a Brisbane win may be on the cards here.

Betting tips: Pick the Bullets to win at $1.99 (Sportsbet)

Also pick them to have a handicap of +1.5 at $1.90 (Sportsbet)

Sydney Kings

Sydney Kings vs Perth Wildcats

Qudos Bank Arena

7:30pm AEDT

Perth Wildcats

Just last round (RD12) these two teams met. A lot happened in that clash such as Perth winning 95-89 and Cotton scoring 22PTS. Ware also scored 27PTS. But the thing most of note to come out of this competitive encounter was the reffing. It was atrocious and it seemingly favoured Perth most of the time. Cotton gets some doubtful calls go in his favour in a lot of clashes, similar to James Harden of the Brooklyn Nets of that in the NBA.

So, Kings head-coach Adam Forde decided to speak out about it in his press conference. He was given a ridiculous suspended $5000 fine as well as a suspended one-game suspension. Fast forward to now and the #istandwithforde is now trending amongst NBL supporters and the former Perth man got a standing ovation during their most recent home clash against Brisbane. With the Wildcats now heading into Sydney’s territory things are bound to be heated!

Cotton hit 4 from beyond the arc as he also had 1REB, 6AS and 1ST. Ware hit a pair from deep as his other stats included 5REB and 3AS. Big-man Mooney also shot 70.0% as he registered 11PTS, 1ST and 2BL for Perth. Then for Sydney Martin was impressive with 25PTS as he hit 9 of his 19 shots. He also had 11REB and 1BL. Coming off their respective benches Wagstaff produced 11PTS and Moller 12PTS.

The hosts are currently in 4th with a 10-10 record. While the visitors come into this one as the top dogs as they currently sit in 1st with a 14-4 record so far. The Kings have been victorious in 3 of their last 5 games. Their two losses have both been to Perth. While their wins have been 90-71 at home vs BRI, 75-73 at home vs CNS and 103-75 at home vs MEL. For Perth they’ve all been wins and all at the RAC Arena bar the first game vs Sydney. They have been 95-89 vs SYD, 89-65 vs SYD, 81-70 vs ILL, 92-82 vs ADL and 93-75 VS CNS.

When the Kings were thrashed by the Wildcats most recently Ware scored just 6PTS and Martin had only 3 boards. Then in the close loss Ware scored 27 and Martin had 11. The two have obvious links between each other and it highlights how badly Sydney need their two best men performing in order to really bring the fight to the Wildcats.

Ware might’ve scored only 11PTS vs BRI last match, but he dished out 9 dimes, his highest of the season since vs 6th of March. While Martin had 10 boards vs BRI, as well as 16PTS. Suffice to say that while it will be a challenge for these two superstars, they should more then be up to the task.

Betting tips: Pick Sydney to win here at $2.13 (Sportsbet)

Also pick them to have a handicap of +2.5 at $1.90 (Sportsbet)

Melbourne United

Melbourne United vs New Zealand Breakers

John Cain Arena

8:00pm AEDT

New Zealand Breakers

Can we talk about Colton Iverson for a minute? The former Indiana Pacers draft pick and Israeli Cup winner became the first player since Mark Bradtke (1997) to record back-to-back 20REB games. What an absolute champion (both are)! In his sides 92-85 loss to S.E.M he pulled in 26 boards, along with scoring 22PTS. He also had 1AS, 1ST and 1BL. Before that he had 20REBS vs BRI. In that clash he got 10PTS as well + 1ST and 2BL. The South Dakota born C has been on an absolute roll for the Breakers as of late.

And while Iverson may have been the star of the show, it’s a bad show, because that was NZ’s 12th defeat of the season and one that sees them on the same number of wins as last placed Cairns (5). Although the Taipans have played 4 more games than them. The loss occurred at John Cain Arena where the Breakers actually won Q’s 2 and 3, 23-17 and 29-21. But they went down in the other two 29-17 and 25-16.

T. Webster scored 16PTS, Delany had 15PTS and C. Webster had 11PTS. T. Webster shot 50.0% from the floor as he also got 2REB, 7AS, 1ST and 1BL. Delany’ other stats included 2 boards and 1 dime. While for C. Webster he got 1REB and 4AS. Abercrombie also chipped in a lil bit with 9PTS.

For United they are 2nd with a 15-5 record behind only the Wildcats. And their latest game/win came away in Cairns as they beat the Taipans 83-73. At the Cairns Pop Up Arena the only Q they lost was the 3rd, 20-19. They won all the others 24-22, 19-18 and 21-13.

Goulding scored 15PTS for Melbourne, while Hopson had 14 as well as McCarron, Landale had 13 and Peating 9. Goulding hit 3 3’s from beyond the arc as he also had 3REB, 2AS and 1ST. Hopson had 7REB, 3AS and 1ST as well. McCarron shot 50.0% from the court as he had 6REB and 6AST.

These two sides never fail to entertain us when they go head-to-head! And this one should be no different to that of encounters past.

Betting tips: Pick Melbourne to win at odds of $1.50 or more when they become available.

Also pick them to win Q’s 1 and 2 at odds of $1.40 each or more when they become available.
