Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:

Flashed home late into 2nd three runs back at Randwick but up in weight today. Must respect in this event. Race 2:
DEEP SPEED (4) Grabbed towards the finish when 2nd two runs back at Moonee Valley but first run back after a spell. Has good tactical speed and will be nicely positioned. Top prospects. ALL OF BRIGHTON (2) Landed the spoils when winning three runs back at Flemington. Expected to be flashing home. This field suits. SACRED PALACE (7) Solid effort when winning last run at Bendigo and dropping weight today. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Must respect in this event. DICKIN MEDAL (6) Finished strongly when 5th last start here and third up from a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Trifectas chance.

Race 3:
ZORRO’S DREAM (9) Finished strongly when 2nd last start at Flemington and should get going late. Been in the money 6 from 7 attempts this campaign. No surprise to see a win. WHIPCRACKER WAY (2) Got the cash when winning three runs back at Sandown but up in weight today. Key hope. METEORITE (4) Having third run back from a break. Good win last time at Mornington and carrying less weight this time. Could pose a threat and looks promising. KALKARNI ROYALE (5) Really dug deep when winning two runs back at Geelong and can save some energy from the draw. Very strong each way claims.

Race 4:
SUGARTOWN (10) Displayed potential when winning two runs back at Bendigo and dropping in class. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Has been a model of consistency since resuming from a spell. Include in all exotics. ZESTY BELLE (4) Solid win three runs back at Flemington and gets a nice run behind the speed. One of the main dangers. HAI SUN (7) Having second run back from a spell. Scored a victory last start at the track and shows good early pace. Consider an each way bet. OCEAN’S JEN (12) Having third run back from a spell. Fought on gamely when winning two runs back at Sandown and will appreciate the drop in weight. Strong each way bet.

Race 5:
OVER THE SKY (5) Game effort to win two runs back at Sandown. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Go close. ZACHAZ (3) Came on strongly when 3rd last run at Swan Hill but hoping that the added weight won’t hurt. Displays very good finishing speed. Suitably placed in this race. TOORADIN (6) Was first to greet the judge when winning two runs back at Warrnambool. Should muster plenty of early toe. Can surprise and by no means out of it. EXCELMAN (4) Won two runs back at this venue. Can measure up to this company.

Race 6:
RED SANTA (7) Competitive effort when 3rd last run at Rosehill and will try to take advantage of the barrier. Goes very close. NAMAKWA (1) Scored a victory two runs back at Flemington and suited by the weight drop. Tracking very well this preparation. Can feature. VIBRANT GLIDER (2) Racing for the second time this week. Good performance to run into 3rd two runs back at Sandown. Will be looking to sit just behind the leaders. Worth strong consideration. FLOSSING (5) Was fighting out the finish when winning two runs back at Bairnsdale and gets some weight taken off today. Looks to have a good chance of placing.

Race 7:
CHIEF ALTONY (9) Displayed potential when winning last start at Sandown and displays good closing speed. Tracking very well this preparation. Major claims. THINK ‘N’ FLY (3) Having third run back from a spell. Made considerable ground when 2nd last time at Flemington but rises in weight. Better claims. THOUGHT OF THAT (7) Second up from a break. Looked good when 3rd three runs back at Moonee Valley and will appreciate the drop in weight. Can go on with it. SCOTTISH DANCER (4) Solid win last run at Murray Bridge but facing a stronger grade today. Very competitive this campaign. Don’t dismiss.

Race 8:
MALKOVICH (10) Good win last run at this venue and goes down in weight. Expecting to settle positively. Should go well. VILLAMI (12) Races well fresh winning 3 from 4 runs. Won narrowly two runs back at Warwick Farm and likely to be well placed early. Main hope. VIRIDINE (1) Nice run when placing 3rd last time at Randwick. Can go through the gears. Contender. ORDER OF COMMAND (3) Nice effort to run into 2nd two runs back at Rosehill but resuming. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Worth consideration.

Race 9:
GRINZINGER ALLEE (13) Game effort to win last run at Sandown but resumes from a break. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Has the ability to take this out. SCANTOON (17) Winner last run at Sandown and carrying less weight this time. Should be right in the finish. FUNDRAISER (11) Third up from a break. Ran on strongly when 3rd last start at the track. Can give this a shake. JUMBO OZAKI (8) Could build on a strong second up record. Good win three runs back around here and drawn nicely. Each way prospects.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
VIANELLO was a drifter in betting first up at track/trip in the race won by Jigsaw but did enough, racing in the worst part of the track in the straight to finish fourth. Second and third had race fitness and were coming off last-start wins. Ollie has opted to give up the ride on her and stick with stablemate and debut winner ZAPATEO. She was back/wide at Geelong and won seemingly with more in the tank but a few from that race have been underwhelming since. SHAME FOR FAME posted the fastest last closing split of the meeting to score at Bendigo. LIBIAMO pick of the first-starters for mine.
Selections: 1. Vianello (Top Tip), 2. Zapateo, 3. Shame For Fame, 9. Libiamo

Race 2:
DEEP SPEED has won a jumpout leading into this prep and is expected to ping out of the gates and be prominent, if not lead. The form through his first preparation stacks up well, his only fail (if you would even call it that) was in a strong 3&4YO race at the back end of the prep. ZIPPING BOY still gives significant weight to rivals even after Alana Kelly’s claim but it’s hard to knock winning form. PIONEER RIVER didn’t handle the soft 7 last start but motored home in the run prior. ALL OF BRIGHTON did enough post-freshen here against the pattern last time out. Both runs prior were solid.
Selections: 4. Deep Speed (Top Tip), 1. Zipping Boy, 3. Pioneer River, 2. All Of Brighton

Race 3:
Put simply, ZORRO’S DREAM never runs poorly but he has been rolled a lot of times when going around as favourite. What makes that even more frustrating is the fact that he generally runs second. Happy to suggest this is the right race for him to be first past the post. KALKARNI ROYALE, who beat him home two back, has a weight swing heavily against her between the pair. She ran on well last start and maps to be more forward here. TONY NICCONI has only ever won at this track and best efforts are up to this. WHIPCRACKER WAY looks well placed back in grade and trip.
Selections: 9. Zorro’s Dream (Top Tip), 5. Kalkarni Royale, 1. Tony Nicconi, 2. Whipcracker Way

Race 4:
ZESTY BELLE might need luck from a tricky gate but always fires fresh and gets in nicely weighted with a 2kg claimer engaged. Her best prior efforts are just better than this. SUGARTOWN, coming off a freshen and a somewhat forgivable effort last time out, looks the danger. There was plenty of merit in her two wins to kick off the prep and now she gets the “Kah” factor. FOREVER FREE is racing in top order despite not winning. Still not convinced she runs out a strong 1100m. REITE DEN BLITZ must be a chance based on a run here two months back prior to a freshen.
Selections: 4. Zesty Belle (Best of the Day), 10. Sugartown, 1. Forever Free, 11. Reite Den Blitz

Race 5:
OVER THE SKY was solid here last start over the mile when going around as favourite in a race that was dominated by on-pacers. He’s on trial over the trip but maps for the run of the race and should be peaking fourth up. EXCELMAN has been freshened and won a jumpout between runs. He had every chance over the trip last time out but it was in a stronger race. He looks well placed. FALLS appeals because he maps to potentially get a fairly uncontested lead. However, he is yet to race beyond the mile. ZACHAZ has also accepted for Randwick. Should the stable opt to come here, watch for him late.
Selections: 5. Over The Sky (Top Tip), 4. Excelman, 2. Falls, 3. Zachaz

Race 6:
VIBRANT GLIDER really gives me the impression that he will relish the step out in trip after a solid effort in the Silver Bowl Series Final last weekend; he just started to warm up late and got through the line well. He maps to be midfield or worse but at least he will be off the fence to get clear running room when it matters. ZA’EX won very nicely first up, albeit in a maiden, and gives the impression he could measure up. NAMAKWA had every chance last start but there was still merit in the run. UNIQUELY ran very well at cricket-score odds and must be a chance based on that effort.
Selections: 2. Vibrant Glider (Top Tip), 8. Za’ex, 1. Namakwa, 9. Uniquely

Race 7:
THINK ‘N’ FLY will be looking to atone for last start after protesting unsuccessfully against the winner for alleged interference. He maps for a sweet run and is unbeaten when third up. VEGAS KNIGHT I like stepping back in trip after a couple of minor placings over 2400m. He’ll park off a few that will be vying for the front so expect he looks the winner at some point in the straight. SCOTTISH DANCER is chasing a hat-trick and it’s hard to knock winning form. If they go hard up front, watch for him finishing strongly late. CHIEF ALTONY has plenty of upside. This is his hardest test to date.
Selections: 3. Think ‘n’ Fly (Top Tip), 5. Vegas Knight, 4. Scottish Dancer, 9. Chief Altony

Race 8:
We know VILLAMI always fires first up and she maps for the gun run (she doesn’t have to lead!). As usual, she has trialled very well leading into this and the stable would have her set and ready to go. Any horse that pushed Libertini and Loving Gaby to their limits in the past must be respected. ORDER OF COMMAND has a sensational first-up record and beat all bar Eduardo in the Galaxy last prep. MALKOVICH will try to lead and dictate and should prove hard to run down. The best efforts of VIRIDNE surely measure right up to this too.
Selections: 12. Villami (Top Tip), 3. Order Of Command, 10. Malkovich, 1. Viridine

Race 9:
GRINZINGER ALLEE hopefully gets us home. He wasn’t asked to do much in a recent jump out but is yet to miss a top three finish when first up and possesses some pretty strong prior form lines to reference. Where he gets to in the run is the query, but with a good steer from Kah, this race is well within his reach. The dangers for mine all come through the same race at track/trip two back. JUMBO OZAKI was only first up there so should derive a lot of benefit from the run. His second up form is good. MR TIPLA just tries his heart out and has been rock solid of late. FUNDRAISER next.
Selections: 13. Grinzinger Allee (Value Bet), 8. Jumbo Ozaki, 7. Mr Tipla, 11. Fundraiser

Sportsbet – The Wolf:

Race 7: 4. Scottish Dancer

Unibet – The Professor:

Race 8: Rubisaki (3.90) (win)

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
SIR CRACKLE (9) Bjorn Baker 2yo runner on debut by Choisir. Will attract plenty of interest. DRAGONSTONE (4) Scored a victory last time at Warwick Farm but facing a stronger class. Can’t knock. SKY COMMAND (10) Got the cash when winning last run at Warwick Farm and dropping weight today. Could prove to be very difficult to beat. VIANELLO (7) Ran on strongly when 2nd three runs back at this course and gets a nice run behind the speed. Solid place bet prospects.

Race 2:
KOBE ROCKS (1) Really dug deep when winning two runs back at Warwick Farm and gets a favourable draw. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Strong hope. ALVIN THE BOLD (7) Did enough to win last time at Hawkesbury and shows good early pace. No shock to see a win. ALLINTHISTOGETHER (9) Did enough to win last time at Gosford and suited by the weight drop. Must be considered. OAKFIELD PRINCE (4) Winner last run at Taree and should muster plenty of early toe. Going well this preparation. Won’t be far away.

Race 3:
CAVALIER CHARLES (19) Was strong to the line when winning two runs back at Nowra and finishes off strongly. Capable of getting into the money. CASINO KID (1) Got the cash when winning last run at the track. Warrants a bet. BIRDONAWINNINGPOST (6) Good win last run around here but fresh after a break. Should just about get the run of the race. Every chance today. ZOO STATION (10) Second up from a spell. Good win last time at Rosehill. Worth an each way bet in this.

Race 4:
VAN GIZ (7) Fought on gamely when winning three runs back at Warwick Farm and suited by the weight drop. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Winning chance in this line up. DE GRAWIN (4) Bold effort to win three runs back at this venue and expecting to settle positively. Should be right in the finish. MADDI ROCKS (2) Fresh after a break. Did its best work late when 3rd last time at Eagle Farm but carrying more weight than last time. Should be very competitive and is a genuine threat. ZOUMIST (9) Resumes from a spell. Was all too good winning two runs back at Gosford and goes down in weight. Don’t overlook.

Race 5:
HARPO MARX (3) Could build on a strong third up record. Good performance to run into 2nd three runs back here and displays good closing speed. Expect a solid run and the one to catch. OUR INTRIGUE (8) Got going late when 4th last start at Rosehill. Should just about get the run of the race. Has the ability to figure. ZACHAZ (5) Stormed home when 3rd last time at Swan Hill but rising in weight today. Expected to be flashing home. Winnable race. CRIMINAL CODE (2) Third up from a spell. Good show to place 3rd two runs back here but will be rising in distance. Keep it safe and include in any exotic bets.

Race 6:
HULK (3) Showed a good turn of foot when 2nd last start at Rosehill. Tracking very well this preparation. Winning claims. THE BOPPER (2) Kept finding the line when 4th last time at Flemington. Happy to overlook that run but displays good tactical speed. Key player. LANCASTER BOMBER (1) Really dug deep when winning two runs back at Canterbury and gets a nice run behind the speed. Looks promising in this race. DESTINATION (9) Having second run back from a break. Started $7.5 and finished 3.03L from the winner at Rosehill last time on a soft surface but can save some energy from the alley. Should be around the mark.

Race 7:
BAZOOKA (13) Third up. Did well to run into 2nd last time at Rosehill. Key player. ROYAL BANQUET (4) Was $7 and finished 3.7L behind the winner at Rosehill last time on a heavy track but third up from a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Among better hopes. ZOROCAT (12) Couldn’t keep the pace going when 2nd last time at Rosehill and displays good tactical speed. Has run into the money 5 from 6 attempts this campaign. Must respect. GEMMAHRA (8) Grabbed towards the finish when 3rd last run at Rosehill and should come to hand quickly. Been in the money 4 from 5 attempts this preparation. Looks a value runner.

Race 8:
BANDERSNATCH (1) Scored a victory last start at Rosehill but rises in weight today. Shows good early pace. Worth a ticket. RUBISAKI (6) Produced an eye catching run when 2nd last run at Flemington and proven performer at this trip. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Capable of getting into the money. COUNTOFMONTECRISTO (3) Did well to run into 3rd three runs back at Kranji and second up from a spell. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Worth keeping safe. TRICKY GAL (7) Snuck in a place when 2nd last run at Rosehill. Possesses very good finishing speed. Can win.

Race 9:
I AM POWER (5) Freshened up. Really dug deep when winning last start at Rosehill and dropping weight today. One of the top hopes. FROSTY ROCKS (2) Races well fresh winning 2 from 4 runs. Was strong on the speed before fading to finish 3rd last start at Rosehill and shows good early pace. Can figure. VENTURA OCEAN (7) Resumes from a spell. Fought on well to win last run at Eagle Farm. Expected to fight out the finish. MADAM LEGEND (12) Chimed in with a win last start at Rosehill and second up from a spell. Should just about get the run of the race. No surprise to see a forward showing and one of the main hopes in this race.

Race 10:
BLONDEAU (4) Flew home into 3rd two runs back at the track. Has run into the money 3 from 4 attempts this campaign. No shock to see a win. KATALIN (7) Landed the spoils when winning two runs back at this venue and third up from a spell. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Winning hope. OFF SHAW (9) Came in 2nd last run at Warwick Farm and third up. Likely to be well placed early. Winnable race. MATOWATAKPE (5) Good win last run at Warwick Farm but up against stronger competition today. Can go through the gears. Must respect in this event.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
Randwick was rated Soft 7 on Wednesday but rain is forecast for Friday and Saturday so we will probably head downwards by the looks of things. We begin with 2YOs and 7 and 14 were dual acceptors at preview time. We have seen speed from 1, 3, 5, 10, 13 but the newcomers may have something to say about who leads as well. SIR CRACKLE has scored in all three trial outings with Collett aboard, one back in Feb and two on Heavy recently. Boasts heaps of speed and looks quite the pro. SKY COMMAND was $15 to $7 before scoring easily on debut. GOVERNOR has looked OK at the trials too, especially winning in his latest from the front on H10.
Selections: 9. Sir Crackle (Top Tip), 10. Sky Command, 4. Dragonstone, 1. Darceandermill

Race 2:
Pace from 4, 5, 6, 7 and 2 could get involved on-speed today as well after having a disastrous beginning last start. It is frankly not a race I’m super keen about and I’m reluctant to rule any of them out in a hurry. KOBE ROCKS and MAJOR ARTIE come from a race in which every horse started single figures and both are open to improvement here, particularly ARTIE who lost touch totally early and came home faster than all but the clear winner. Unproven on Heavy though whereas KOBE has seen it and liked it. ALLINTHISTOGETHER is on the up and gets a little weight advantage. May get back to the tail though?
Selections: 1. Kobe Rocks (Top Tip), 9. Allinthistogether, 2. Major Artie, 4. Oakfield Prince

Race 3:
14 + 6 in this week’s Highway. 13 an early ‘take-out’, 14 and 17 are dual acceptors. So then, numbers are plentiful but there isn’t a lot of speed from them. I see 5 leading 8, and perhaps 2 and 8 handy. Sydney’s two standout leading riders wait for further scratchings on Matthew Dale’s pair right down the bottom. Respect to both although NUREMBURG CASTLE would probably have to get way back from that draw. CAVALIER CHARLES nicely suited from his gate and is clearly at this level. DREAM RUNNER better for his comeback and another emergency who can make an impact should he make the final field. TAGS can miss the kick but has been pretty consistent.
Selections: 19. Cavalier Charles (Top Tip), 18. Dream Runner, 3. Tags, 1. Casino Kid

Race 4:
ZOUMIST the filly vs 8 mares. No great depth of speed. DE GRAWIN has the pace to cross them all but she has come back below her best. One more chance here surely as her best two wins (one here under Louise Day) have come on Heavy. Not sure the other pace runner BRAZEN MISS is going any good this prep either. MADDI ROCKS and MISTEED have been freshened and find themselves in new stables. Classwise this suits both well, though MADDI hasn’t seen a lot of wet tracks. In the end I am left with VAN GIZ who often has trouble at the getaway and places more often than she wins approaches this in form on Heavy surfaces.
Selections: 7. Van Giz (Top Tip), 4. De Grawin, 3. Misteed, 1. Dunbrody Power

Race 5:
6, 13 and 4 to set the tone. ZACHAZ also an acceptor in Melbourne and the strong likelihood of a drier track nearer home might mean he stays away. Very intrigued if here though as his form reads well. That said, HARPO MARK does appear tantalisingly placed 3rd-up on the one week backup. It’s easy to see him settling out the back here but it’s not as though he didn’t do that all through last prep and still run on strong into the finish of races just like this. SAVVY LEGEND just never had any room last start as MR GEE got up underneath him early in the straight. That form may be good enough.
Selections: 3. Harpo Marx (Best of the Day), 5. Zachaz, 6. Monsieur Sisu, 13. Savvy Legend

Race 6:
Not loads of speed. THE BOPPER took a trail in his latest hitout but has (or at least used to have) the speed to lead this lot. 5, 7, 8 all handy. LANCASTER BOMBER meets HULK 3 kilos better off for finishing within 1L of him here on June 12. As a rule he lifts for his 2nd-up run does the BOMBER, proven by the fact he’s won 3 of his latest 4 at second run back. HULK didn’t get the room he wanted last start but had he one suspects he may just have finished a slightly closer 2nd. THE BOPPER at his best would be something to beat here. Solid to the finish in that latest trial. Hasn’t seen worse than Soft 6 on raceday.
Selections: 1. Lancaster Bomber (Value Bet), 3. Hulk, 2. The Bopper, 7. Accelerato

Race 7:
2, 8, 10, 16, 17 the dual acceptors here. 12 and 11 to lead it. 6 pozzies handy. 8 and 17 thereabouts as well. MONEGAL has won Saturday BM78 races at the beginning of her latest two preps, one of them on Heavy. Has more weight for this but she is entitled to it. When CUBAN ROYALE races below BM78 level he tends to win. These Midway races are made to order for him but you could say the same of GEMMAHRA and BAZOOKA as well. ASHIM has trialled since the Australian debut. Three subsequent winners from that race, which bodes well for ROYAL BANQUET as well.
Selections: 2. Monegal (Top Tip), 5. Cuban Royale, 6. Ashim, 4. Royal Banquet

Race 8:
Clearly the highlight of this card and actually this is one very very interesting race. Speed from 1, 4 and 14. Good to have RUBISAKI back in Sydney. She’s 3 from 3 up here, two at this track. LE GAI SOLEIL back from QLD and 7 7weeks b/t runs. Handles wet no worries and won’t have to get a mile back here. ZIEGFELD won his latest trial. Market can tell more. BANDERSNATCH has won on Heavy but I’m not sure he’s mad about it. CHARLIESE more renowned for her dry track deeds but is flying. CHIEF IRONSIDE is a good grade of horse to appear mid-winter. 4 of his latest 8 starts have been at G1 level. Latest trial was at the end of May.
Selections: 6. Rubisaki (Top Tip), 15. Le Gai Soleil, 5. Order Again, 7. Tricky Gal

Race 9:
Pace from 2, 6, 7. FROSTY ROCKS an obvious leader and races well fresh and on wet. Plenty to like about him here. ZAKAT and HANDSPUN (below her best when last seen) should represent Godolphin well, both set to run on strong. CHAT would be my confident pick on Soft or better. He is a good grade of galloper and fancy we are still to see his best but two Heavy runs have been so-so (not terrible). VENTURA OCEAN has no wet form to recommend but the booking of McDonald would balance that out for many. This is tougher than the two he won in QLD though.
Selections: 2. Frosty Rocks (Top Tip), 11. Zakat, 13. Handspun, 3. Chat

Race 10:
6, 10, 15 also in R7. Speed comes from 9, 10, 12 and 11. MONEGAL slightly preferred in the earlier race but if they choose this I’m happy to follow. Ditto GEMMAHRA. OFF SHAW went through a bad patch over summer but it seems he wants Heavy to show his best work and he could end up getting a very cosy lead here. Not sure KATALIN would want another Heavy track; it was the excuse put forward after her Rosehill run a few weeks ago.
Selections: 9. Off Shaw (Top Tip), 3. Smart Image, 8. Charretera

Unibet – From the Trader’s Desk:

Race 1 #9 Sir Crackle (3.90) – BEST BET
Race 6 #3 Hulk (3.40) – LAY BET
Race 8 #7 Tricky Gal (10.00)
Race 10 #2 Ulysses (8.50) – VALUE BET

Sportsbet – The Wolf:

Race 4: 4. De Grawin
Race 5: 8. Our Intrigue
Race 7: 4. Royal Banquet and 6. Ashim

Quaddie: 4,6/1,5,6,15/3,5,7,11,12/4,5,7,9
