Sydney vs. Geelong

Five of Sydney’s last six home games against Geelong went over the bookmaker’s total. Ignoring the 2020 season, which had shortened quarters, the last two games between these two at the SCG saw 187 and 178 total points. Both teams’ games went over 200 points last week with Geelong and Sydney posting the 1st and 2nd high scores of the round. Sydney’s average total score at the SCG in 2021 was 162.1. Despite the wet forecast, I would back over 143.5 total points at 1.95 (BlueBet, PlayUp).

Essendon vs. Brisbane

Essendon have gone 1-4 as the home underdog over the last 12 months and their last two games against Brisbane resulted in 28-91 (home) and 45-102 (away) defeats. Essendon conceded a league-high 138 points against Geelong last week. I would back Brisbane in the head-to-head at 1.45 (Sportsbet).

Gold Coast vs. Melbourne

Gold Coast won away against the heavily depleted West Coast last week, which has resulted in their head-to-head odds firming to the point that the value now lies with Melbourne. The Suns have a poor 2-5 record on the back of a win over the last 12 months and they have gone 2-6 as the home underdog. Melbourne, meanwhile, have gone 10-1 away from home over the same period. Spanning this season and the last, Melbourne have won eight straight and they have won their last nine games against the Suns. I would back Melbourne in the head-to-head at 1.29 (Sportsbet).
