Reds vs. Rebels |
The Rebels reliably beat weaker opponents but they also reliably lose to stronger opponents. This season the Melbourne franchise has gone 5-1 against sides currently ranked below them and 0-4 against sides ranked above them. The Rebels have gone 1-5 as the underdog away from home over the last twelve months and they have lost four in a row in Queensland. The Reds have played well over the last three weeks and if they can repeat that level of performance they should win comfortably. I would back the Reds in the head-to-head at 1.19 (BoomBet). The Reds have gone 4-2 at the line at home over the last twelve months while the Rebels have gone 3-6 at the line as the underdog. Seven of the Rebels’ eight defeats over the last twelve months were by 13+ margins, so those looking fore more risk should consider the Reds -12.5 at 1.91 (bet365).
Blues vs. Hurricanes |
Both teams bringing 9-1 form into this clash. I will side with the Blues this week. They have gone 7-0 at home over the last twelve months, while the Hurricanes have gone 4-4 away from home and 0-2 as the away underdog. The Blues also boast an ominous 6-1 line record at home over the last twelve months and they have covered the line in their last five home fixtures. Another factor is the Hurricanes have injury woes at the hooker position, which isn’t ideal going up against the Blues’ pack. I would back the Blues in the head-to-head at 1.82 (bet365).
Waratahs vs. Brumbies |
The Waratahs have lost twelve consecutive games against the Brumbies and this includes seven games at home. The Brumbies have gone 8-1 as the favourite over the last twelve months, while the Waratahs have gone 2-8 as the underdog. Seven of the Waratahs’ last eight home defeats to the Brumbies were by 1-12 margins. The same can be said for four of the Waratahs’ five home defeats over the last twelve months. Two of the Brumbies’ three away wins over the last twelve months were by 1-12 margins. I would back the Brumbies in the head-to-head at 1.28 (PlayUp). Those looking for more risk should consider the Brumbies 1-12 at 3.00 (Dabble).
