Highlanders vs. Chiefs |
![]() |
The Highlanders have been competitive in recent weeks, but they have been consistently unable to get over the line. They have lost five in a row and, looking back further, the Highlanders have lost nine of their last ten. Their season is well and truly over and they now take on the Chiefs who are fighting for a top playoff seed. The Chiefs have been virtually unbeatable at home this season, so securing the top seed would make them firm favourites to win the title. The Waikato side has won six in a row against the Highlanders. They won their most recent trip to Dunedin by a 52-28 scoreline and they defeated the Highlanders by a 46-10 scoreline earlier in the season. The Chiefs don’t have a strong line record away from home as the bookmaker’s favourite, so I will keep it simple and back the Chiefs in the head-to-head at 1.19 (PlayUp). They’re as short as 1.13 with other bookmakers at the time of writing.

Blues vs. Waratahs |
![]() |
The Waratahs are backing up following their extra-time win over the Force in Perth, while the Blues had a bye last week. This fixture takes place before the Hurricanes vs. Moana Pasifika clash, so both sides can still make the finals prior to kick-off, but it’s hard to fancy the Waratahs’ chances given their torrid away form. The Waratahs have gone 1-4, both in the head-to-head and the line, away from home this season. All five defeats were by 13+ margins. The Waratahs have lost ten consecutive games against the Blues and they have lost eight consecutive games at Eden Park. After a rocky start, the Blues have won three in a row at home. Six of their seven home wins over the last twelve months were by 13+ margins. They covered the line in their last two home wins over the Waratahs. I would back the Blues in the head-to-head at 1.08 (PlayUp). They’re as short as 1.04 with other bookmakers at the time of writing. Those looking for more risk should consider the Blues 13+ at 1.48 (bet365).

Reds vs. Fijian Drua |
![]() |
The importance of this game for the Reds will depend on the results of the preceding fixtures, but this is simply a bet against the Fijian Drua’s awful away form. By my count they have lost 22 consecutive games as the away side or when playing at a neutral venue. The Fijian Drua have failed to cover the line in their last four away fixtures. Five of their seven away defeats over the last twelve months were by 13+ margins. Three of the Reds’ last four home wins were by 13+ margins. I would back the Reds in the head-to-head at 1.13 (PlayUp). They’re as short as 1.07 with other bookmakers at the time of writing. Those looking for more risk should consider the Reds 13+ at 1.62 (bet365).
