Crusaders

Crusaders vs. Reds

Reds

Since the launch of Super Rugby in 1996, no Australian side has ever won a playoff game in New Zealand. The Reds have gone 1-4 in the head-to-head and 0-5 at the line as the away underdog over the last twelve months. The Crusaders have failed to cover the line in their last four home games, however, so I’m not keen on the -12.5 line. I will back the Crusaders in the head-to-head at 1.17 (Dabble, PlayUp). Four of the Reds’ five away defeats this season were by 8+ margins, so those looking for more risk should consider the Crusaders -7.5 at 1.50 (bet365).

Chiefs

Chiefs vs. Blues

Blues

I’ll side with the Chiefs, who have been far more consistent than the Blues this season. The Chiefs have gone 7-0 in the head-to-head and 6-1 at the line at home this year. In recent years they have gone 9-2 as the home favourite against the Blues. The Blues have gone 0-3 as the underdog this season. At the line, the Blues are in with a chance, however. They have gone 2-0 at the line as the away underdog this season and in recent years they have gone 8-3 at the line as the away underdog against the Chiefs. I would back the Chiefs in the head-to-head at 1.35 (PlayUp). Those looking for more risk should consider the Chiefs 1-12 at 2.70 (bet365).
