Liverpool

Liverpool vs. Bournemouth

Bournemouth

Liverpool in the head-to-head at 1.31 (Betfair)

Liverpool have won six home games in a row against Bournemouth. In all competitions the Reds have won 12 of their last 13 meetings against the Cherries. Liverpool have since spent over £250M, primarily on attacking players, in the transfer window. Bournemouth have lost key defenders Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez, while Illia Zabarnyi is also set to depart.

Over 2.5 goals at 1.41 (Betfair)

Liverpool’s last seven home games against Bournemouth went over 2.5 goals. With an average of 3.4 goals per game, 15 of Bournemouth’s 19 away games went over 2.5 last season. Liverpool have looked vulnerable defensively in pre-season and key defensive player Ryan Gravenberch is suspended for this clash.

SGM: Liverpool to win & Over 2.5 goals at 1.62 (next2go, PlayUp)

Combining the above two picks.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa vs. Newcastle

Newcastle

Aston Villa in the head-to-head at 2.30 (next2go)

Seven of the last eight EPL meetings between the two sides were won by the home team. Aston Villa finished last season with five consecutive home wins, and with little player turnover this summer, they should hit the ground quickly. Newcastle have endured a frustrating summer as most of their transfer targets opted for other clubs. Manager Eddie Howe is having to juggle multiple jobs due to Chief executive Darren Eales’ stepping down with health issues and sporting director Paul Mitchell’s sudden departure. Added to the mix is the transfer saga over Alexander Isak, who missed Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia due to transfer interest by Liverpool. The Athletic reported that the striker was “adamant he will never represent Newcastle again”. Isak’s unavailability is compounded by the departure of Callum Wilson. Newcastle went 0-0-5 as the away underdog last season.

Brighton

Brighton vs. Fulham

Fulham

Draw at 3.65 (PlayUp)

A Brighton win (2.00 with Betfair) is arguably the more likely outcome, but the value lies with the draw. Brighton went 8-8-3 at home last season (5-6-3) as the home favourite. Had you wagered $1 on the draw for each of those games, you would be up $16.73. Since promotion to the Premier League, Brighton have gone 1-3-1 at home against Fulham.

Nottm Forest

Nottm Forest vs. Brentford

Brentford

Nottingham Forest +0.5 at 1.33 (Betfair)

Nottingham Forest went 8-3-3 as the home favourite last season, but this is more a bet against Brentford, who have seen Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken depart. Following the departure of Thomas Frank, who took a host of coaching staff with him, Brentford are now managed by former set-piece coach Keith Andrews, who has no head coaching experience.

Under 2.5 goals at 1.96 (Betfair)
BTTS: No at 2.15 (next2go)
Correct score: 0-0 at 12.50 (Betfair)

Both sides lost attacking talent during the summer. Nottingham Forest scored just one goal in seven pre-season games. Five of those games ended 0-0. Thirteen of their 19 home games last season went under 2.5 goals. Only Liverpool kept more clean sheets than Forest’s 13 last season. Both meetings between Forest and Brentford last season went under 2.5 goals.

Wolves

Wolves vs. Man City

Man City

Man City in the head-to-head at 1.45 (BoomBet)

Man City have won nine of their last ten EPL matches against Wolves. Wolverhampton commence life without Matheus Cunha and captain Nelson Semedo, while Man City have been proactive at refreshing and strengthening the squad during the January and summer transfer windows. City finished last season in 7-2-0 form, while Wolves limped home in 0-1-3 form.
