To take advantage of the odds before they possibly shorten, these previews are usually published before the team sheets are announced. Those who are more risk-averse should wait for the squad lists before wagering.
Highlanders vs. Hurricanes |
Hurricanes in the head-to-head at 1.45 (Dabble, NextBet)
The Hurricanes have won nine in a row against the Highlanders. This includes five consecutive wins away from home against the southern side. The Highlanders have gone 1-9 as the underdog over the last twelve months. Eight of the Hurricanes’ last ten away wins over the Highlanders were by 1-12 margins and seven of those ten wins were by 1-7 margins. Those looking for more risk should consider the Hurricanes 1-12 at 2.50 (bet365).
Brumbies vs. Chiefs |
Brumbies +12.5 at 1.43 (bet365)
The Brumbies have lost five in a row to the Chiefs, however four of those games were played in New Zealand. The host side should be relatively fresh for this clash given coach Stephen Larkham made ten changes to the squad for their away fixture against the Drua. The Chiefs failed to cover the line in their last three away games. Over the last twelve months they have gone 2-4 at the line in as the away favourite. The Brumbies have not suffered a 13+ home defeat over the last twelve months.
Over 50.5 at 1.50 (betr)
Spanning this season and the last, the Brumbies’ last eight games all went over the bookmaker’s total. The same can be said for seven of their last eight games in Canberra. The Brumbies’ average total score this season is 69.0. The Chiefs’ two away games so far this year went under the total, but they were both against domestic opposition. I’m not sure how long these odds will last. betr currently have the even odds total set at 54.5, while everyone has the total set at 58.5.
Fijian Drua vs. Reds |
Fijian Drua in the head-to-head at 1.72 (Dabble, NextBet)
This game will be played in the energy-sapping conditions of Lautoka, where the Fijian Drua have a 12-3 record. The Reds have a 0-3 record in Fiji and that is despite the fact that all three games were played in the easier conditions in Suva, where the Drua have only a 4-5 record. The Brumbies made ten changes to the squad for their away fixture against the Drua last week and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Reds opt to do the same.
Waratahs vs. Blues |
Blues in the head-to-head at 1.50 (NextBet)
The Blues have won 11 in a row against the Waratahs and that includes five consecutive wins in Sydney. The Blues have covered the line in each of their last five away fixtures. The Waratahs have gone 4-8 at the line as the underdog over the last twelve months. Four of the Blues’ last five away wins over the Waratahs were by 1-7 margins. The Blues have only won once away from home by a 13+ margin over the last twelve months. Those looking for more risk should consider the Blues 1-12 at 2.50 (bet365).
