Survey of Bookmaker Ownership in Australia

In response to visitor requests, we have published a survey of the bookmaker ownership structure in Australia.

This should assist those who are looking to add more bookmaker memberships to their portfolio but don’t want to include those which share identical odds and markets to an existing membership.

Many Australian-licensed bookmakers are owned by foreign companies with numerous take-overs occurring in recent years.

Of the fifteen Australian-licensed bookmakers surveyed, six are Australian owned, seven have parent companies in England, one has a parent company in Ireland and one has a parent company in Malta. Ten of the fifteen bookmakers have a sibling brand operating in Australia.

Due to the more relaxed licensing rules, most online Australian bookmakers are licensed in the Northern Territory, with the Norfolk Island Gaming Authority the second most common licensor.
