STATE SOLICITOR produced a freakish win in the Colonel Reeves, overcoming extreme traffic problems to win. He was beaten a length in this race last year after being snagged to last. He’s in better form this year and has drawn a gate to be in a commanding position. Expecting him to win and win well. ROCK MAGIC is the second pick back on his home deck. The only query is whether he has another grand final in him. Respecting the high-class mare VIDDORA. WHISPERING BROOK has place claims if she leads.

All about one horse here. STATE SOLICITOR last start win at Ascot took streak to three in a row and goes well at the track, leading hope. SANTA ANA LANE was a winner last start at long odds in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and should race just off the speed, place hope. THE RIVER won last start at Ascot when first up and has multiple wins at the track, place claims. DAINTY TESS in strong form with two wins from four attempts this campaign and goes well at Ascot, capabable of getting into the money.

On paper it’s very hard to go past the Keith Noud winner MONSIEUR GUSTAVE who although facing a weaker field on that occasion at Ipswich really did put them away from inside the final 200m, he’s generally better second up & is unbeaten on soft ground, yet to see heavy. The obvious query though is the wide gate, how much work will he do early on? EGYPTIAN SYMBOL is good fresh & handles all going, trialled up nicely for her return. CALANDA draws perfectly for the Snowden/Browne combination & must be included.
