Wellington Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix vs Brisbane Roar

5:25PM AEDT, Leichhardt Oval

Brisbane Roar

Wellington were cruelled by a late 92nd-minute equaliser to 17-year-old Bernardo Oliveria against Adelaide last round at Jubilee Stadium, in their 1-1 draw. Meanwhile on the opposite end of the spectrum at Dolphin Stadium, Brisbane was all class as they thrashed Macarthur 3-1. Their delicious strikes coming courtesy of Nikola Mileusnic 2-in, a Corey Brown stunner 60-on and a second goal of the season to youngster Henry Hore after that. Both sides are sitting just on the edge of a finals spot, meaning this will be a simply great match-up.

Did you know, the Phoenix have won 4 of their past 6 games after beginning the campaign with just 2 wins from 7 A-League attempts?

Betting tips: Look for Brisbane to win at $2.40 (Sportsbet)

Also look for there to be over 1.5 goals scored at $1.22 (Sportsbet)

Western Sydney Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne Victory

7:55PM AEDT, CommBank Stadium

Melbourne Victory

As the Wanderers prepare to battle the Victory, they do so having won just 1/3 games throughout Mark Rudan’s short tenure so far. With their two defeats coming in the form of 3-1 to City and 1-0 to Western United, with both games contested at home no less. And prior to that debut win over the Glory, they were winless in five straight games. Currently having collected just nine-points through ten-games played on the season, things are looking extremely grim in ‘Wander Land’. Additionally, Melbourne have fashioned three wins from their previous five visits to CommBank Stadium. So, barring a miracle here Western Sydney could be in for another tough night at the office.

Did you know, the last time these teams played each other 9 total goals were scored, as the Victory prevailed 5-4.

Betting tips: Back the Victory to prevail at $2.60 (Bet365)

Also back there to be over 11 corners produced at $2.00 (Bet365)

Melbourne City

Melbourne City vs Newcastle Jets

7:45PM AEDT, AAMI Park

Newcastle Jets

In early February at McDonald Jones Stadium both Newcastle and Melbourne went head-to-head on a dreary Tuesday night, however unlike the conditions, the game was a wonderful spectacle, and a true endorsement of how good Australian Football actually is. Beka Mikeltadze got on the scoresheet for the hosts, while Jamie ‘Macca’ Maclaren scored twice. Now the Georgian and Aussie attackers go to-to-toe once again in what is a conquest between two outstanding Footballing minds. ‘Macca’ has fashioned eight strikes on the season vs Mikeltadze’s seven and each are the focal points of their side’s respective attacks. Will it be the 26-year-old Jet or 28-year-old City representative who propel their team to all three-points?

Did you know, the Jets have actually won 3 of their last 5 encounters against City! The most recent resulting in a 2-1 performance in 2021 when Apostolos Stamatelopoulos’s 89th-minute winner sent his side into raptures.

Betting tips: Pick City to ease their way to all three-points at $1.44 (Sportsbet)

Also look for only Melbourne to score at $2.00 (Sportsbet)

Wellington Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix vs Sydney FC

5:05PM AEDT, Leichhardt Oval

Sydney FC

The ‘Sky Blues’ have previously prevailed in 12 of their last 15 meetings against the ‘Nix’. And with Wellington having to face them against what will be a predominantly Sydney-aching crowd will certainly do them no favours either! However, that’s exactly how Ufuk Talay’s men like it, as evidenced through this season, they have no trouble adapting to various home grounds around the country and doing what they do best, performing under pressure. With Jaushua Sotirio and Gary Hooper on three-goals a piece this campaign, along with Reno Piscopo on two, they have unearthed a very lethal, yet extremely underrated attack that is capable of giving Steve Corica’s men an almighty scare in Leichardt. What impact will the former Wanderer & Co have in their attempts to claim a significant scalp?

Did you know, Talay played for Sydney on 59 occasions and scored 6 goals in the process. He also won both an A-League Championship and Oceania Club Championship with the franchise.

Betting tips: Back Sydney to triumph at $1.95 (Bet365)

Also look for Elvis Kamsoba to score any time at $2.87 (Bet365)

Macarthur FC

Macarthur Bulls vs Adelaide United

7:45PM AEDT, Campbelltown Stadium

Adelaide United

After starting the season going through their opening five matchups undefeated, the ‘Bulls’ have been sent straight to the slaughterhouse lately as they’ve not claimed a single win from their past five straight games in a row. Ante Milicic’s men are struggling mightily and it’s not too difficult to assess why. Key recruit Ulises Davilla has just one goal and zero assists through seven games played. Daniel De Silva meanwhile has just one goal through 10 matchups and Craig Noone is at one strike through ten, with only two assists to his name as well. Macarthur were notoriously stringy defensively throughout that opening month or so of Football, but now that their defence has been watered down, their offence is struggling to turn up each game and it is costing them big time. Unless they’ve miraculously fixed their woes in training this week, Adelaide is primed for a BIG, BIG result right here.

Did you know, after playing 25 games for Adelaide United and scoring 11 goals in the process via Tomi Juric’s two stints with the club, he has gone 0/2 for Macarthur so far.

Betting tips: Look for 1+ goals to be scored in each halve at $1.65 (Sportsbet)

Also look for this matchup to fashion over 2.5 strikes at $1.79 (Sportsbet)

Melbourne Victory

Melbourne Victory vs Central Coast Mariners

7:45PM AEDT, AAMI Park

Central Coast Mariners

Melbourne have lost their last two games in a row, meanwhile the Central Coast have drawn their past two, however more importantly, this is their first clash against one another since the Victory lifted the FFA Cup (now Australia Cup) aloft at AAMI Park after their scintillating 2-1 final victory over the Mariners. In what was a true display of Footballing wits, Melbourne were well-deserved winners, however the Mariners did both themselves and their travelling supporters proud. Now the likes of Jake Brimmer, Marco Rojas, Marco Urena and Oliver Bozanic will once again be going at it, at the very same stadium where their previous encounter was contested. The amount of talent on display in this match is unreal and we are all the more better off for being able to witness special encounters like this in the Isuzu Ute A-League Men’s competition.

Did you know, the Mariners have failed to keep a clean sheet in 5 successive games, whilst they’ve conceded 3 goals on three separate occasions over that short period of game play.

Betting tips: Pick the Victory to win at $2.05 (Bet365)

Also look for both teams to find the back of the net at $1.66 (Bet365)

Perth Glory

Perth Glory vs Brisbane Roar

11:00AM AEDT, Venue TBC

Brisbane Roar

Perth was down and out last week against the Mariners. They were struggling to get any real sort of consistency going in Gosford and they were faltering badly in attack. However, with a punted ball forward in the 93rd-minute of the game, Daniel Stynes stood up brilliantly to slot the ball past Mark Birighitti and into the back of the net, from the centre of the box to salvage a much-needed point for his desperate Glory side. Having come on as a substitute in the 67th-minute, he certainly did what was asked/needed of him. The ex-Gwelup Croatia and Bentleigh Greens man will need to put in a five-star performance off the bench to give Perth any possible chance of dousing an on-fire Roar side. However, even before he comes on, the match may already be done and dusted by that point.

Did you know, the Glory’s last victory came in the form of a 1-0 friendly result over Gwelup Croatia. Whilst Daniel Sturridge has played just 3X this season, is averaging only 18-minutes per matchup and has shot the ball just once in total.

Betting tips: Look for Brisbane to score first and win.

Western United

Western United vs Western Sydney Wanderers

6:35PM AEDT, AAMI Park

Western Sydney Wanderers

When the ‘Red & Black’ and ‘Green & Black’ last met in Parramatta, all that separated the two sides was a sublime 29th-minute right-footed effort from Aleksander Prijovic. It was a superstar moment, in what was otherwise an extremely tight contest between the two rivals, in Western United’s 1-0 win. In fact, the Wanderers actually had a ‘fair grip’ on the stats, owning 69% possession of the ball. However, their shooting let them down, as they went just 1/16 on target + having had a shot rattle the woodwork. In the short period since that 5th of February encounter, the Wanderers have made subtle strides under Mark Rudan. I strongly believe those improvements will be on display at AAMI Park in what should be a close victory to the visitors. This strongly has the potential to be the match where they well and truly flip the script in their favour.

Did you know, Prijovic has represented Serbia 13X, scoring twice in the process. Whilst his best ever statistical season came in 2017-18 with PAOK in the Superleague Greece, where through 40 games he bagged 27 strikes!

Betting tips: Pick the Wanderers to cause a stir and win on the road at $3.30 (Sportsbet)

Also look for Western Sydney to register at least one or more goals in H2 at $1.83 (Sportsbet)

Melbourne City

Melbourne City vs Central Coast Mariners

7:55PM AEDT, AAMI Park

Central Coast Mariners

Its rather incredible to think that the Mariners are on the outside looking into the Top Six with the way the current standings are structured, but unfortunately for Nick Montgomery’s men that is exactly the case. They are camped in 9th on the ladder, with just 3 wins from 9 games so far to back up their mediocre form. Yet, collecting all three-points from this encounter would throw them right back into the thick of the action. It won’t be an easy task though, as in 6 of the Mariners past 7 games against City, they’ve leaked 2+ goals, the peak resulting in a 5-0 humbling back in 2019. A game in which Melbourne had four different names make their mark on the scoresheet. Is a repeat on the cards here, or are the Mariners sturdier and ready to make large amends this time around?

Did you know, Montgomery pulled on the Mariners jersey 113 times, scoring 3 goals for the club and he won an A-League Championship with them throughout the 2012-13 season.

Betting tips: Look for both teams to score at $1.72 (Sportsbet)

Also back City to open the scoring in H1 at $1.53 (Sportsbet)

Best Bets of the week – Melbourne City vs Newcastle Jets

Pick City to ease their way to all three-points at $1.44 (Sportsbet)

Also look for only Melbourne to score at $2.00 (Sportsbet)
