Belmont Race 8: No. 8 Uncle Dick
Belmont Race 9: No. 1 Kay Cee
Flemington Race 3: No. 1 Cherry Tortoni
Flemington Race 5: No. 3 Rich Charm, saving on No. 4 I Am Someone
Race 9: Kay Cee
UNCLE DICK (8) Brave effort to win two runs back at Pinjarra and carrying less weight this time. Shows good finishing speed. Look for a bold run. NO APOLOGY (3) Landed the spoils when winning last run around here and backs up quickly today. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this campaign. Warrants a bet. EURASIA (4) Honest race when 3rd last time at this track and suited by the weight drop. Has run into the money 8 from 11 attempts this campaign. Chance to break through and a could give a show. FUHRER (6) Won narrowly two runs back at Northam but rising in class. Keep in mind.
KAY CEE (1) Left nothing to chance when winning last run at the track and third up from a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Very tidy this preparation winning 2 from as many attempts. Could have race run to suit and is one of the punters top hopes. CHANTREA (4) Got the prize when winning last run at this course and having third run back from a spell. Looks very sharp this preparation with 2 wins from 2 runs. Has the ability to figure. CAMBIST (2) Was all too good winning two runs back at Ascot and will be aiming for a soft run from the draw. Has a nice turn of foot. Honest enough to be an each way player. KARIJINI AURORA (3) Chimed in with a win three runs back at Albany. Tracking very well this preparation. Include.
Race 8: Uncle Dick
Race 9: Kay Cee
This Aquanita Stakes is there for the taking and it does really look set up for UNCLE DICK to plot an unlikely path to black-type victory. Is coming through lower graded races than this, but probably should be unbeaten and will relish the rise to 2000m with William Pike riding for the first time. FUHRER endured a torrid run last start and did a good job under the circumstances. Gets a more economical run and looks a major player. EURASIA gives the impression he’s ready for this trip and drops 5kg. NO APOLOGY is buttering up after last week’s heavily backed 1600m win.
Selections: 8. Uncle Dick (top tip), 6. Fuhrer, 4. Eurasia, 3. No Apology
Good luck beating exceptional filly KAY CEE in the Belmont Oaks. Has got the job done in both feature lead-up assignments, and while it hasn’t been easy, her class and will to win has shone through. Steve Parnham should have her sweetly positioned from this alley and it would be a significant upset if one of these fillies knocked her off. The unbeaten CHANTREA is the intriguing runner. Has obviously never faced a horse the quality of Kay Cee, but Chantrea has some real weapons and deserves to be considered the main danger. CAMBIST and KARIJINI AURORA round out an obvious first four.
Selections: 1. Kay Cee (top tip), 4. Chantrea, 2. Cambist, 3. Karijini Aurora
Race 9: Jamaican Rain
BELLISSIMI AMICI (6) Good run when finishing 2nd two runs back here and second up from a break. Will be looking to sit just behind the pace. Solid claims. QUEEN SWEEPER (7) Racing for the second time this week. Got the cash when winning last start at Doomben. Will be competitive. SEE MARIE (8) Kept finding the line when 2nd two runs back at Gold Coast. Winnable race. TUMBLER RIDGE (1) Gave a strong sight when 3rd two runs back at this course and should race just behind the speed. Has run into the money 5 from 7 attempts this preparation. Will be there at the finish.
MULTAJA (4) Finished strongly when 5th last run at Doomben. Possesses very good finishing speed. Will be competitive. JAMAICAN RAIN (3) Goes well first up with 4 wins from 7 starts. Won narrowly last start at Sandown and won’t be far away during the run. Place chance. JAMI LADY (11) Races well second up winning 2 from 3 runs. Won narrowly last time at the track and expecting to settle positively. Among the chances. HOLD THE LINE (16) Dashed home into 3rd last start at Doomben and gets a reduction in weight. Finishes off strongly. Don’t leave out of trifectas.
Race 5: Tumbler Ridge each-way
Race 9: Love You Lucy each-way
The main query here is the tempo. There is a good chance it’s muddling at best and tactics could be very important. ZERO TO HUNDRED, BELLISSIMI AMICI and SEE MARIE interest me the most and they may well be the last three settling. ZERO TO HUNDRED was a good winner on debut in Sydney on a heavy track. Always have to respect the Ryan stable when they head north. SEE MARIE is screaming to win a race. Attacked the line late again last start. Back in trip, gear changes and just the chance she is coming to the end of it this prep are the queries. Still respecting in this stable. BELLISSIMI AMICI was just fair 1st up last week over the unsuitable 1110m. Out to the 1400m on the bigger track is more suitable. May just need this to top her off but expecting sharp improvement. Drops 3.5kg on last weeks run. If we do get the slow tempo it can suit READY FOR MAGIC who was three wide the trip last start.
Selections: 11. Zero To Hundred, 6. Bellissimi Amici (scratched), 8. See Marie, 3. Ready For Magic
LOVE YOU LUCY has won a Listed race and a G2 in two of her last three starts. Does have to carry the 58.5kg in this but it’s impossible to knock how she is going. JAMAICAN RAIN is a massive query, probably the best horse in the race but hasn’t been spotted in 228 days. Gets the right run and we might need to get a guide through the market. IN GOOD TIME beat a decent field at $61 last start. If she brings that form she can run well again. MULTAJA has good talent, just struggling to win. PENNINO had good support before copping a severe check which cost her the race last start. Handy mare on her day. JAMI LADY is very consistent. This is a jump in grade but maps perfectly. BOOMTOWN LASS just keeps drawing bad gates. Her chances rely on her crossing. If she gets it ok in front she will give a great kick.
Selections: 12. Boomtown Lass, 5. Pennino, 1. Love You Lucy, 6. In Good Time
Listed affair for the 2yo’s where Ready For Magic & Nicci’s Spirit the likely tempo setters, Queen Sweeper handy whilst rising 300m in distance Real Fine Wine may push on? Tipped BELLISSIMI AMICI last week however things just didn’t pan out from that inside gate around Doomben, clear very late she made ground however the bird had flown. 1400m second up here much more suitable, she can drop back early before launching down the outside in the straight. TUMBLER RIDGE has been up a while however his run here last time was good, expect a cold ride once again. Definite watch ZERO TO HUNDRED.
Selections: 6. Bellissimi Amici (top tip – scratched), 1. Tumbler Ridge, 9. Plutocrat, 11. Zero To Hundred
The Listed Bright Shadow rounds out the day, likely to be a very open market. Nos.3, 12, 13, 14 & 24 (emerg) all capable of leading, plenty of others who can race handily suggests a solid tempo. They’re likely to be ‘all over the shop’ late here, luck will play a big part. I’m sticking with PENNINO who won well first up, bit against 2nd up then ran into a wall when looking the likely winner at Doomben, that likely solid tempo will suit. MULTAJA has had a freshen up & looked good winning a recent Doomben trial, look for her to be flashing late. Throw HOLD THE LINE in, wet track against latest.
Selections: 5. Pennino (top tip), 4. Multaja, 3. Jamaican Rain, 10. Jadentom
Race 3: Cherry Tortoni
Race 4: Persan
Race 5: I am someone
Race 6: Kings Brook
Race 7: Grinzinger Allee
Race 8: Never Again
Race 9: Beauty Bolt
CHERRY TORTONI (1) Good win last run here but racing in stronger company today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Unbeaten this campaign with 2 wins from as many starts. A win looks likely. NARVAEZ (2) Game effort to win last time at Bendigo but rising in class. Should be going forward early. Could run into the money. ALCYONE (6) Came on strongly to finish 2nd two runs back at Ballarat and gets some weight taken off today. Chance for exotics punters. TOYZ ON FIRE (11) Was all too good winning two runs back at Wangaratta but up against stronger competition. Some place claims.
I AM SOMEONE (4) Got the upper hand late when winning last start at the track and third up today. Will be looking to sit just behind the leaders. Expected to fight out the finish. TAVISAN (7) Really dug deep when winning two runs back at Caulfield. Displays good tactical speed. Big danger. RICH CHARM (3) Caught the eye when 2nd two runs back around here and shows good closing speed. Right in this. SNITZKRAFT (6) Hit the line well when 2nd last run at this venue. Each way hope.
PLEIN CIEL (5) Game effort to win last start at Moonee Valley and shows good closing speed. Can’t knock. HEPTAGON (2) Fought on well to win last run at this venue. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Very tidy this campaign winning 3 from 4 starts. Right in this. SHOT OF IRISH (8) Got the prize when winning last start at Moonee Valley and should muster plenty of early toe. Racing consistently this campaign. Serious player. NOBLE BOY (17) Rocketed home into 3rd last start at Rosehill. At least a place chance.
Race 3: Cherry Tortoni
Race 5: Rich Charm
Race 8: Plein Ciel
Tip: 20 units Cherry Tortoni WIN/ 7units Alcyone WIN
Top four: 1. Cherry Tortoni, 6. Alcyone, 11. Toyz On Fire, 7. Burleigh Boy
Tip: Rich Charm 8 units WIN
Top four: 3. Rich Charm, 10. Hi Stranger, 1. Great Again, 4. I Am Someone
Top four: 1. Reykjavik, 5. Plein Ciel, 3. Moss ‘N’ Dale, 17. Noble Boy
SPEED: 2, 5 from 4, 7 with 7, 12 handy? CHERRY TORTONI looks smart, love the way he cruised into the race here at just start two, and he won well. MYSTIQUE FALCON ran well behind him at Sale then positive ride up in trip latest and he was brave beating TOYZ ON FIRE, who closed off very nicely against the pattern of the race/day. Suspect he is the overs here? BURLEIGH BOY is fitter and has 3kg on Cherry. INSAAF also has a little relative-weights swing. ALCYONE is a work in progress but will eat 1600m. NARVAEZ was brave latest and is proven at 1600m.
Selections: 1. Cherry Tortoni (top tip), 11. Toyz On Fire, 5. Mystique Falcon, 6. Alcyone
RICH CHARM was hopelessly held up here last time and back to 1100m. On and over the line he was running by them all, and that was off a terrific return when just missing GREAT AGAIN. That horse then failed but was lame and had no hope wide versus the bias in any case. I AM SOMEONE had the sweet run but won well in that Rich Charm race and was only second up. MILWAUKEE was as luckless as Rich Charm! LORD VON COSTA hit the line nicely. Three-year-old HI STRANGER is going super but is poorly weighted here. TAVISAN and SNITZKRAFT (1200m helps) are chances.
Selections: 3. Rich Charm (top tip), 5. Milwaukee, 4. I Am Someone, 1. Great Again
SPEED looks good with 8, 18 (em),11 plus 10, 5, 12. Always a good race! REYKJAVIK is flying but 62kg and gate 18 are challenges. HEPTAGON overcame a drop back in distance with 61.5kg to win here. He’s also flying! NEVER AGAIN and VASSILATOR ran on well out wider in that race, dominated by those on inside lanes. VICTORIA STAR is now five weeks between runs but ran Heptagon to 1.1L last time. The 1600m looks OK. NOBLE BOY ran on well in inferior ground at Rosehill. Has Reykjavik form and may be the overs. SHOT OF IRISH was brave dead-heating with PLEIN CIEL latest. A SHIN ROOK yes 1600m!
Selections: 17. Noble Boy (top tip), 16. Victoria Star, 2. Heptagon, 9. Vassilator
