Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 5:
SHOWMANSHIP (6) Brave effort to win last run at Caulfield and goes down in weight. Flying this campaign with 5 wins from 5 runs. Rates highly. AGE OF CHIVALRY (3) Generally strong second up with 2 wins from 4 runs. Came on strongly to finish 2nd last run at Caulfield and has plenty of early speed. Top prospects against this opposition. FELICIA (9) Kicked clear when winning last run at Caulfield and should muster plenty of early toe. Has some strong credentials in this race. MANDELA EFFECT (2) Could build on a strong first up record. Fought on gamely when winning last run at Launceston and easy to come into at this distance. Don’t disregard.

Race 6:
HANSEATIC (8) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Brave effort to win three runs back at Caulfield and expected to be flashing home. No surprise to see a win. BROOKLYN HUSTLE (7) Having second run back from a break. Made a mess of them when winning last run at the track and gets a favourable gate. Go close. BELLA VELLA (5) Game effort to win last start at Morphettville and should race on the speed. Success in a barrier trial at Morphettville on Aug 27th. Expect to go close. BONS AWAY (3) First up from a break. Started $9 and came in 7th last start at Mornington but change in trainer to Wendy Kelly. Watch market moves closely.

Race 7:
AGREEABLE (8) Second up. Solid effort when winning two runs back at Geelong. Has genuine claims in this race. AIDENSFIELD (4) Blitzed its rivals when winning last run at Sandown but resuming after a spell. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Worth a ticket. NIGHT RAID (9) Second up from a break. Won by a huge margin last start at Tatura but up in grade. Open to improvement and is a strong chance again. RIVER NIGHT (2) Having second run back from a break. Ran on strongly when 2nd last run at Caulfield. Can feature.

Race 8:
SURPRISE BABY (4) Displayed potential when winning two runs back at Flemington and can go through the gears. Winning claims. HARBOUR VIEWS (8) Races well fresh winning 2 from 3 attempts. Chimed in with a win two runs back at this course and suited at this trip in the past. Winnable race. SIRCCONI (6) Snuck in a place when 2nd last start at Caulfield and expecting to settle positively. Among better hopes. REGAL POWER (2) Winner three runs back at Caulfield and should race just behind the speed. Interesting to see the blinkers go off for the first time. Worth strong consideration.

Race 5:
7 may lead 3 with 1, 9 handy? AGE OF CHIVALRY was just no match for a quality, match-fit horse in Viridine fresh. Behind them was Begood Toya Mother, who just ran well in a fast G1 Memsie Stakes. This guy has won twice second up. SHOWMANSHIP has come up odds-on but is very promising and probably should be unbeaten! He ran fastest last 200m of the day at his Vic debut and his overall time married up very well against that Viridine/Age Of Chivalry race. The drop back to 1200m is the tiny query for mine. MANDELA EFFECT should have won here fresh last prep. ACHERNAR STAR is proven fresh also.
Selections: 3. Age Of Chivalry (top tip), 6. Showmanship, 2. Mandela Effect, 1. Achernar Star

Race 6:
SPEED: 6 can fly! 5 takes trail with 2, 9 & 1 next? BELLA VELLA became a G1 winner in her unbeaten latest prep, beating Lyre. At the start of said campaign she thrashed FINE DANE. BROOKLYN HUSTLE was a brilliant return winner here. She’s had five weeks between runs, which may well offset the fact she stays at 1000m so, hopefully, she won’t be run off her legs early here with fast speed? She had that Lyre form as 2YO too. HANSEATIC ran down Glenfiddich (reads well now) and then RULERSHIP his first two last prep. Recent jumpout looked sharp!
Selections: 5. Bella Vella (value bet), 7. Brooklyn Hustle, 8. Hanseatic, 9. Rulership

Race 7:
3, 6 led last time. 9, 2, 4 can be right up there. 7, 10, 5 trail? AGREEABLE wants all of the 1200m here but she’s a promising filly. Her 11.56 last 200m in the Quezette was among the day’s fastest. RIVER NIGHT beat her home there and was not in the best part of the track. She’ll have a head-start on Agreeable on the turn so check track pattern! AIDENSFIELD was ridden to win a recent jumpout. She looked good in her two wins in May on wet tracks. DIRTY THOUGHTS beat CLEAN MACHINE on a bottomless track here. NIGHT RAID, ODEUM and GYPSY CHOICE all off big wins on wet. Clock? Advantage Night Raid.
Selections: 8. Agreeable (top tip), 2. River Night, 4. Aidensfield, 9. Night Raid

Race 8:
SPEED: 3, 6 lead 9, 7? SURPRISE BABY ran on nicely into third in this race last year when fresh. Second that day was MAHAMEDEIS, but the challenge for that horse today is coming back in trip to the 1600m. HARBOUR VIEWS has a terrific overall record. His challenge is the step-up to WFA. Taking a line through his easy win over Double You Tee (who has been chasing Mahamedeis) you can certainly make a strong case. Expect better REGAL POWER here. COMING AROUND and SIRCCONI are chances especially if on-pacers are advantaged. STREETS OF AVALON next but 1600m stretches him. Any bias?
Selections: 4. Surprise Baby (top tip), 8. Harbour Views, 9. Coming Around, 6. Sircconi

Unibet – The Professor:

Race 4: Nature Strip (1.40)
Race 7: 1. Finche (16.00) 2. Avilius (4.60) 3. Zebrowski (6.00)
Race 8: Rock (9.50)

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 4:
NATURE STRIP (1) Got the prize when winning last start here and won’t be far away during the run. Has won all previous barrier trials. Looks the winner. GYTRASH (2) Should be ready to fire fresh with 3 wins from 5 runs. Was very impressive when winning two runs back at Morphettville and displays good tactical speed. Placed 2nd in a barrier trial at Warwick Farm on Aug 21st. Big chance. SPLINTEX (4) Game effort to win last time at this venue but resumes after a break. Has placed in all previous barrier trials. Chance in this field so include in exotics. DIRTY WORK (5) Chimed in with a win last start at Rosehill but first up from a break. Success in a barrier trial at Rosehill Gardens on Aug 18th. Each way prospects.

Race 6:
HUNGRY HEART (3) Chimed in with a win two runs back at this track and fitter for multiple trials. Go well. DAME GISELLE (1) Having second run back from a spell. Brave effort to win last start here and will be well suited at the trip. Capable of getting into the money. THERMOSPHERE (4) Brave effort to win three runs back at Rosehill and second up from a spell. Possesses very good finishing speed. A win wouldn’t surprise. LA VERNAZZA (6) Resumes from a spell. Got the cash when winning two runs back at Matamata and strong performer at this trip in the past. Can win.

Race 7:
AVILIUS (1) Made considerable ground when 3rd last time at Rosehill and always seems to find the line well. Will benefit from multiple trials. Has the ability to figure. ANGEL OF TRUTH (10) Second up from a break. Kept chasing when 2nd last run at the track and suited at this trip historically. Can give this a shake. ZEBROWSKI (13) Charged home into 2nd two runs back at this venue and possesses good finishing speed. Massive hope. MISTER SEA WOLF (3) Having second run back from a break. Lost ground in the run home when 5th last time at Rosehill but can go through the gears. Place hope.

Race 8:
DREAMFORCE (1) Won narrowly three runs back at Rosehill and second up from a spell. Should muster plenty of early speed. Likely threat. VANNA GIRL (8) Resuming from a spell. Left nothing to chance when winning last start at Eagle Farm but will be down in distance. Suited. COLETTE (4) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Nice effort when winning last start around here and fitter for multiple trials. Watch it go close. ROCK (5) Managed to run 3rd last time around here and expected to be flashing home. Finished 2nd in a barrier trial at Rosehill Gardens on Aug 18th. Place hope.

Race 4:
I dare say for most (including me) this is our highlight of the programme. Nothing will lead NATURE STRIP albeit BALL OF MUSCLE is a fast horse drawn the rail (BALL has finished way back in his three meetings vs NATURE.) GYTRASH will want to stalk not too far away. NATURE STRIP wins at 61% overall, 60% in Sydney and has won 6 of 11 for this stable (last 18 months). That all indicates he’s more likely to win than lose but he can stumble occasionally (like fresh last prep when GYTRASH had his measure). Fascinating to note that for punters he has been very ‘gettable’ in his latest five wins, starting b/t $3.10 and $4.20. He’s also career profitable when in the red (12 for 9:1:0 and a $14.8 return at SP).
Selections: 1. Nature Strip (top tip), 2. Gytrash, 4. Splintex, 5. Dirty Work

Race 6:
Certainly a promising bunch of fillies. Pace from 5, 10 and 1. 11 and 2 set up handy. VANGELIC had a very encouraging first campaign and has jumped out positively in her trials. She was 2nd in the run to Nature Strip in her latest trial and could be hard to catch today. Full of upside like a few of these. DAME GISELLE we have seen recently and know well. Adapted to lead fresh and could be positive here crossing over too. No knock. HUNGRY HEART beat GISELLE home in the Slipper and has all sorts of scope.
Selections: 5. Vangelic (best of the day), 1. Dame Giselle, 3. Hungry Heart, 2. Stellar Pauline

Race 7:
Good race. Wish I had more confidence. There is no designated leader here at all. Could it be ANGEL OF TRUTH?? We know he used to roll forward but 2nd-up for the new stable….not sure. Maybe WU GOK?? Frankly I’m at a loss and that diminishes my confidence in the race as a whole. OK then, I’ll fall into ANGEL OF TRUTH. Hasn’t won since the 2019 Derby but that first run for the Hawkes camp was undeniably encouraging. Gave the winner plenty of weight and beat the others clearly. Now from the low draw he should at least be handy and so many of these can’t be. ZEBROWSKI was great fresh but may want further now. AVILUS started $2 in this last year. He’s classy and his Sydney record is great. FINCHE hellbent on the Melbourne Cup but is trialling really well.
Selections: 10. Angel Of Truth (top tip), 13. Zebrowski, 1. Avilius, 2. Finche

Race 8:
Can we forgive KOLDING (bad!) and DREAMFORCE (worse!) after their resuming runs? I am big fans of both but I had to look elsewhere. RELOADED moved to the line pretty well in his latest trial and could set up to good effect here on the comeback. McDonald booked so bound to have fans despite a winless prep last time around. ROCK has some fresh form to endorse his chances but he may be way out back here. LOOKS LIKE ELVIS might have been in the frame first-up if he had seen clear. VANNA GIRL has her first test in Sydney but likes winning. OPACITY needs to make a big leap to this level but was undeniably exciting at the end of last prep.
Selections: 9. Reloaded (value bet), 5. Rock, 11. Greysful Glamour, 1. Dreamforce
