Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
SCHABAU (4) Was a comprehensive winner three runs back at this venue and should race on the speed. Major player. PERSAN (7) Chimed in with a win last time at Caulfield. Can have an impact. DOUBLE YOU TEE (6) Stormed home when 2nd last run at Caulfield and expected to be flashing home. Struggling this preparation. Can’t be left out of trifectas. YOUNG RASCAL (1) Having second run back from a break. Fought on well to win three runs back at Rosehill and likely to race off the speed. Minor prospects.

Race 2:
BARTLEY (8) Did a good job when winning last run at Warwick Farm and should race just behind the speed. Respect in this company. IMMORTAL LOVE (1) Having second run back from a break. Brave effort to win last start at Caulfield. Expected to fight out the finish. CHERRY TORTONI (3) Fresh after a break. Fought on gamely when winning last start at this track and carrying less weight this time. Likely threat. CROSSHAVEN (7) Finished on top two runs back at Moonee Valley and second up. Will be looking to sit just behind the leaders. Follow market leads.

Race 3:
SAVATIANO (2) Having second run back from a break. Fought on gamely when winning last time at Caulfield and should come to hand quickly. Should prove hard to beat. ARCADIA QUEEN (1) Having second run back from a spell. When $6 came in 5th last time at Caulfield. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Respect in this company. MY GOLD BRACELET (5) Second up from a break. Won narrowly two runs back at Trentham but rising in class. Use betting as a guide. SHE SHAO FLY (9) Ran on strongly when 3rd last start at Caulfield and can save some energy from the draw. Has each way claims.

Race 4:
TOFANE (1) Resuming. Really dug deep when winning last start at Randwick and easy to come into at this trip. Has genuine claims in this race. ZOUTORI (3) Proven record first up with 3 wins from 6 attempts. Ended up 5.6l behind the winner at Morphettville last run on a soft surface. Looks nicely placed today and always seems to find the line well. Appears well in this. BOLD STAR (7) Hit the line well when 4th last time at Caulfield and expected to be flashing home. Big danger. THE INEVITABLE (4) Kept finding the line when 2nd two runs back at this course and finishes off strongly. Appears well in this.

Race 5:
AKTAU (3) Strong record when resuming with 2 wins from 3 attempts. Left nothing to chance when winning last run at Mornington but going up in weight. Genuine winning chance. TOFFEE TONGUE (7) Bold effort to win two runs back at Morphettville and possesses good closing speed. Could prove to be very difficult to beat. DJANGO FREEMAN (5) Fresh today after a break. Stormed home when 3rd last time at Moonee Valley. Could prove to be very difficult to beat. SHOT OF IRISH (8) Having second run back from a break. Was all too good winning two runs back at Moonee Valley. Up to these.

Race 6:
WINDSTORM (14) Won narrowly two runs back at Belmont and finishes off strongly. Tracking very well this preparation. Suited and is a clear standout selection. YULONG JANUARY (8) Weakened to finish 8th last start at Caulfield but expecting to settle positively. Betting may be best guide to the chances and each way is the likely play. BUMPER BLAST (11) Third up from a break. Displayed potential when winning two runs back at the track and easy to come into at the distance. Has each way claims. TRAVIMYFRIEND (12) Scored a victory three runs back at Caulfield and gets some weight relief. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Honest enough to be an each way player.

Race 7:
RUSSIAN CAMELOT (13) Bold effort to win last run at Morphettville and shows good finishing speed. Rates well in this race. FIERCE IMPACT (4) Having second run back from a break. Came on strongly when 3rd last run at Randwick and displays very good finishing speed. Can’t knock. PERFECT JEWEL (14) Races well second up winning 2 from 4 runs. Showed promise when winning last time at Caulfield and finishes off strongly. Right in this. DALASAN (11) Charged home into 3rd last time at Morphettville and third up from a break. Should be swooping on the field late. Marginal hopes.

Race 8:
PRAGUE (1) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Was first to greet the judge when winning three runs back at Rosehill but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Respect in this company. WISDOM OF WATER (2) Strong record when resuming with 2 wins from 3 attempts. Scored a victory two runs back at Gold Coast and change in trainer to Michael Kent Jnr & Mick Price. Has early speed and positions nicely. Suitably placed in this race. DOUBTLAND (4) Had a comfortable win two runs back at Randwick and gets a nice run behind the speed. Place chance. PERSONAL (10) Really dug deep when winning three runs back around here but first up from a break. Should be swooping on the field late. Worth keeping safe.

Race 9:
PARLOPHONE (6) Blitzed its rivals when winning two runs back at Morphettville and going well this preparation. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Open to improvement and is a strong chance again. SWATS THAT (9) Racing fresh after a break. Got the cash when winning two runs back at Bendigo but up in weight today. Warrants a bet. MINHAAJ (4) Was a comprehensive winner two runs back around here but resumes after a spell. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. Chance to break through and a could give a show. LETZBEGLAM (3) Solid effort when winning two runs back at Caulfield and won’t be far away during the run. Might be one for the placings.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
NOTE: Rail true. 10m here last meeting and no bias evident. In straight races they were nearer outside rail. As of Wednesday morning bureau says some chance rain Friday then ”high chance” for Saturday with 10-20mm so ?? SCHABAU was brave when collared fresh at Caulfield. He’s been in this distance range once in Oz and walked in with a Roy Higgins, thrashing Top of the Range, then won Bendigo Cup and ran well in Queen Elizabeth here last year. PERSAN was far too good for DOUBLE YOU TEE and EXEMPLAR latest despite five weeks off. The latter two have a weight advantage. LORD BELVEDERE can win.
Selections: 4. Schabau (top tip), 7. Persan, 2. Lord Belvedere, 3. Exemplar

Race 2:
Not sure leader. A number of them will want to be handy though. IMMORTAL LOVE had been on speed in his two dominant wins in his first prep both on wet ground then missed kick in McNeil but ran over Blue Diamond winner Tagaloa. NATIONAL CHOICE didn’t quicken and ended up back last on turn. Loved his last 100m. He’s desperate for 1400m and may be the value with 1.5kg swing on Immortal Love. CROSSHAVEN was close up and RATHLIN, KHOEKHOE were OK. Concede they all can be fitter now. CHERRY TORTONI is a good horse and jumped out well. SO YOU CAN, CROWN MINT and BARTLEY all hopes!
Selections: 13. National Choice (value bet), 1. Immortal Love, 3. Cherry Tortoni, 8. Bartley

Race 3:
ARCADIA QUEEN is the key to this race. She was just OK fresh but track was soft and speed was slow, plus she raced keenly. Obviously she’s had a setback since but her recent jump out looked good. In simple terms, her best wins this race easily but, where is she at? SAVATIANO, of course, won that Lawrence and all her second-up form is excellent. She is probably the ”safer” play. SHE SHAO FLY beat PRETTY BRAZEN (hit the line nicely fresh) in the Cockram, FIDELIA a forgive run there. BONVICINI beat Pretty Brazen fresh in the Vanity here in Feb. MY GOLD BRACELET beat AFFAIR TO REMEMBER fresh.
Selections: 1. Arcadia Queen (top tip), 2. Savatiano, 7. Bonvicini, 5. My Gold Bracelet

Race 4:
ZOUTORI won this fresh last year. He flew into second in the fastest Oakleigh Plate in history fresh last prep then crossed the line with Gytrash in the Newmarket beating home BANQUO and TOFANE. Tofane had excuses in that Newmarket then was a sectional star in a TJ Smith before her maiden G1 win beating a proper horse in Pierata. Thought her jumpout was terrific! 58kg? Banquo held on well in that same Newmarket and ran well fresh. The 1200m here suits him better. BOLD STAR ran by Banquo fresh and wasn’t far off Zoutori in the Oakleigh Plate. THE INEVITABLE draws 1 but was strong home in trial.
Selections: 3. Zoutori (top tip), 1. Tofane, 7. Bold Star, 9. Banquo

Race 5:
SPEED: 8 may lead 12 with 4, 5, 9, 10 handy. 3, 13 next? AKTAU won well here last December fresh at his Oz debut then won in open class at Caulfield in February (beat FUTURE SCORE). He had 54kg in both of those wins and has 59kg today. His jumpout was lovely work. ARISTIA needs another win but was solid second up and can peak. DJANGO FREEMAN crossed the line with SHOT OF IRISH fresh in May. This rain helps Shot of Irish. TOFFEE TONGUE hit the wire sweetly fresh crossing line with Reykjavik. That’s the horse that beat Shot of Irish/Django Freeman that day. MANTASTIC best roughie?
Selections: 3. Aktau (top tip), 7. Toffee Tongue, 8. Shot Of Irish, 5. Django Freeman

Race 6:
SPEED looks good with 5, 6, 8 plus 10. The 9, 12, 13 can be handy also. WINDSTORM was excellent at his Victorian debut charging home and breaking 11 seconds his last 200m. He has handled soft ground and 1400m looks ideal now. ICONOCLASM comes back from a G1/WFA race but he is better on dry so check track. FURRION can fly fresh but 71 weeks off a task? YULONG JANUARY was wide last time. Level of pressure here? BUMPER BLAST was impressive first up on soft 5 but looked less comfy on soft 6 last time: check track! TSHAHITSI beat TRAVIMYFRIEND second up last July.
Selections: 14. Windstorm (best of the day), 5. Tshahitsi, 8. Yulong January, 11. Bumper Blast

Race 7:
SPEED: 2 may lead 5, 6, 12 with 14 & 4 taking trails. MASTER OF WINE was wide first up in a very fast race. Happy to forgive as all his other form since blinkers went on has been excellent. FIERCE IMPACT beat him home over 6L in that (fast) Winx Stakes and his last two second-up runs have been a G1 Toorak Handicap win and a third to Te Akau Shark and Verry Elleegant at WFA. RUSSIAN CAMELOT could be anything! DALASAN crossed the line with Fierce Impact in an All-Star mile and can peak here. KINGS WILL DREAM can win but draws wide. PRINCESS JENNI my best blowout hope.
Selections: 9. Master Of Wine (top tip), 4. Fierce Impact, 13. Russian Camelot, 11. Dalasan

Race 8:
I certainly expected more from DOUBTLAND fresh but it was a very fast race. His win at start two on wet ground was brilliant. RANTING was forced wide turning in the McNeil and charged home in a race-fastest (11.32) last 200m. EXTRA TIME had no soft run there and ran super also. PERSONAL jumped out well. PRAGUE has looked good in Sydney trials and wasn’t far off Tagaloa in a Golden Slipper (ties in McNeil form). AMISH BOY was off the speed and strong home in latest jumpout. Gate 1? WISDOM OF WATER won jumpout vs older horses. He wasn’t far off second in a JJ Atkins and chased Away Game in MM.
Selections: 4. Doubtland (top tip), 2. Wisdom Of Water, 1. Prague, 7. Ranting

Race 9:
MINHAAJ won a jumpout easily in the second-fastest time of 17 heats. She was a brilliant winner here in March, beating Muntaseera. That’s the filly LETZBEGLAM beat in a Diamond Prelude. Letzbeglam sat wide in a recent jumpout and beat older horses well. FOREVER FREE is unbeaten and ran on well under a light ride in her heat. She beat Ranting at start two and he crossed the line with Diamond winner Tagaloa in the McNeil two weeks back. PARLOPHONE won Lightning impressively then bucked early in Quezette. Forget that. SWATS THAT beat the Quezette winner on debut. Her recent jumpout was terrific.
Selections: 6. Parlophone (top tip), 4. Minhaaj, 9. Swats That, 3. Letzbeglam

Race 8: Fasika (2.45)

Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 5:
MO’UNGA (7) Good win last start at Newcastle and second up. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Will give a big sight. OVERLORD (4) Ran on strongly when 3rd last run at this track and second up from a spell. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. One of the main dangers. GLOBAL QUEST (1) Dashed home into 2nd two runs back at this track but racing fresh after a break. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. Can surprise and by no means out of it. AIM (3) Third up. At $6.5 came in 4th last time at this venue. Better hope

Race 6:
FARNAN (1) Landed the spoils when winning last start at the track and displays good tactical speed. Has plenty of claims. ROTHFIRE (3) Won by a big margin last start at Eagle Farm and expecting to settle positively. Suited. NORTH PACIFIC (5) Put a gap on the rest when winning last time at Randwick and likely to race off the speed. Ultra competitive this preparation with 2 wins from 2 starts. Major player. MAMARAGAN (4) Having second run back from a spell. Finished strongly when 3rd last time at this venue but facing a stronger grade today. Don’t dismiss.

Race 7:
FUNSTAR (5) Strong record when second up with 3 wins from 3 runs. Charged home into 2nd two runs back at Randwick and finishes off strongly. Can win this. SPECIAL REWARD (3) Got the prize when winning two runs back at Newcastle and won’t be far away during the run. Could prove hard to beat. WILD PLANET (6) Second up from a break. Was all too good winning three runs back at Flemington. Respect. NICCANOVA (2) Stormed home when 2nd two runs back at Doomben and possesses very good closing speed. Tracking very well this preparation. Marginal hopes.

Race 8:
FASIKA (8) Goes well first up with 2 wins from 3 attempts. Fair result placing 3rd last time at Randwick and proven performer at this distance in the past. Major player. HAUT BRION HER (5) Handy enough when winning last time at Flemington and shows good early pace. One to watch and an each way chance. SWEET DEAL (7) Second up from a break. Fought on well to win last start at Randwick and gets some weight taken off today. Quite a few boxes are ticked and looks value at generous odds. MIZZY (3) Bold effort to win three runs back at this venue and should jump out and bowl along. Will be there at the finish.

bet365 – Suggested Play:

Race 5: Mo’unga
Race 6: Farnan, saving on North Pacific
Race 7: Special Reward
Race 8: Fasika

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 5:
2 an early scratching and 10 accepted on Thurs./Fri. as well. Look for 9, 11, 6 and 10 to set the tone. GLOBAL QUEST draws widest provides a conundrum. Far and away the high rater of this group; indeed, he split Farnan and North Pacific here last prep. But now out of left field he fronts up fresh to a 1500m event, a distance he hasn’t gone near in his brief career. We all know by now that Waller has a deep bag of training tricks though and the colt approaches it after 2900m worth of trials. Draws widest, which is its own query, but I’m prepared to buy in. Stablemate OVERLORD has quality too but struggles to jump clean. The other Waller runner MO’UNGA has impressed out of town.
Selections: 1. Global Quest (top tip), 4. Overlord, 5. Bazooka, 9. Yardstick

Race 6:
This is such an awesome race. I doubt it’s the time for ROTHFIRE to be coy so I think he’ll boot up and hold out FARNAN with PELTZER relenting and trailing just off with NORTH PACIFIC. MAMARAGAN probably next in line and I feel tied in with him here after a return run that declared he has come back at the same level at which he competed in his initial prep. He’ll have very good horses ahead of him but is going to be strong late again. Maybe last look? NORTH PACIFIC has been far too good in off season events. Think he can measure up. And FARNAN has made a strong habit of winning. I can’t knock him at all. KING’S LEGACY is my outsider but is a dual G1 winner and the only one here that has beaten FARNAN.
Selections: 4. Mamaragan (top tip), 1. Farnan, 5. North Pacific, 3. Rothfire

Race 7:
3 and 8 to lead 6 and 7. RIODINI was a mix of off-speed/handy in NZ and joined very much an on-pace stable. Has missed the start and settled back in two trials out here though (albeit both Nature Strip trials so he wasn’t going to lead was he). SPECIAL REWARD could end up getting a bit of control up front and there was a lot to like about his resuming run. Edging to 1300m won’t hurt a bit and he beat a strong sprint field 2nd-up last time around. FUNSTAR and WILD PLANET through the same race and I think we can say they ‘did enough’. RANIER could launch late pending tempo? Just one very quiet trial for him.
Selections: 3. Special Reward (top tip), 5. Funstar, 6. Wild Planet, 4. Ranier

Race 8:
A wonderful bunch of mares here. Emergencies 18 and 19 have an earlier (and easier!) option. Speed solid from the likes of 11, 7, 5, 4 and 3. Have been keenly awaiting for first-uppers like SHOUT THE BAR and HAUT BRION HER (two trial wins!) to reappear but FASIKA and MIZZY are a level above in terms of fresh horses that I just can’t wait to see again. As it happens, they quinellaed this race 12 months ago. I have loved FASIKA’s trials and she can be offered good options from her draw today (forward or stalking). Beat Gytrash in her first trial so no knock there. MIZZY split Bivouac and Libertini in a Randwick hitout earlier in the week. Big winning hope. Deep race, excellent race.
Selections: 8. Fasika (top tip), 3. Mizzy, 5. Haut Brion Her, 12. Jen Rules
