Black Caviar is once again the hot favourite as she enters the BTC Cup this Saturday at Doomben. Black Caviar’s odds have dropped from $1.25 to $1.16 at Sportingbet following a string of massive wagers on the unbeaten mare. Her incredible form along with an ideal draw of barrier four has seen the punters line up to back her.
To date Sportingbet has received individual bets of $150,000 and $50,000. These figures aren’t unprecedented, with as much as $1,000,000 placed on Black Caviar with other bookmakers at Randwick earlier this year.
Hay List is the second favourite at $5.50, with Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan saying she has been friendless in betting so far.
“He looked to have Black Caviar in big trouble in the T.J. Smith and was dominant in the All Aged but punters simply can’t see him beating her,” he said.
“No doubt there will be some money for him by Saturday but he would still be an enormous result for bookies if he can end Black Caviar’s unbeaten streak.”
